Background / History

Tsunade is the granddaughter of Senju Hashirama and Uzumaki Mito, and is described as the last direct bloodline of the Senju Clan. Though born into an exceptional legacy, she once resisted the expectations attached to the Senju name and chose medical ninjutsu to establish herself through her own achievements. 13 24

She became a famed medical ninja and one of the Legendary Sannin alongside Jiraiya and Orochimaru. Her younger brother, Nawaki, and her lover, Dan Katō, both died during the wars; these losses, followed by Uzumaki Mito's death after the Nine-Tails' extraction, left Tsunade fearful of blood and her identity as a ninja.
