Background / History

Tang Ya was raised in Heaven Dou City as the daughter of the Tang Sect’s master. When the Iron Blood Sect attempted to seize the Tang Sect residence, she defended it alone with Blue Silver Grass and hidden weapons despite being vastly outnumbered. Her attacks could not penetrate a Level 3 defensive soul tool, but she refused to surrender the sect’s foundation. Bei Bei intervened and protected the Tang Sect from the Iron Blood Sect. 14 15 16

The Tang Sect’s situation remained precarious because its leaders refused to adapt its traditional hidden-weapon techniques to the era of soul tools. Tang Ya’s father rejected Bei Bei’s proposal to move to Shrek City, valuing ancestral rules over the sect’s survival. 17

After the Tang Sect was annihilated and her parents died, Tang Ya sought assistance from factions formerly allied with the sect, including the Clear Sky Sect, but was repeatedly rejected. She arrived at Shrek Academy determined to become stronger, avenge her parents, reclaim the Tang Sect’s former foundation, and restore its hidden weapons. 22

Bei Bei challenged her inherited beliefs: Tang San’s success had depended on the Blue Silver Emperor and Clear Sky Hammer rather than ordinary Blue Silver Grass, while the Tang Sect’s hidden weapons had fallen behind modern soul tools. After personally losing a hidden-weapons-versus-soul-tools test, Tang Ya accepted that reform was necessary and chose to study soul tools. 22 24

She ultimately agreed to provide the Tang Sect’s mechanical hidden-weapon techniques to Shrek Academy’s Soul Tool Department in exchange for help rebuilding the sect. Fan Yu recognized the value of integrating those mechanisms with soul tools, allowing the Tang Sect to develop into a growing organization with branches across the three great empires. 50 53 79

Following the exposure of Tang San’s actions, Tang Ya concluded that the Tang Sect founded in his name no longer had reason to exist. She decided to disband the Tang Sect. 162

Tang Ya was first described as a young girl with a round, cute face and long black hair tied into a ponytail. At age eleven, she was recorded at 1.65 meters tall and 45 kilograms. 14 33

Personality

Tang Ya is intensely protective of the Tang Sect and initially clung to its traditions even after its decline became undeniable. The deaths of her parents strengthened her resolve to seek revenge and revive the sect through her own efforts rather than relying on others. 14 22

She is stubborn, proud, and emotionally vulnerable when confronted with the shortcomings of her martial soul and sect. However, she is capable of reassessing her convictions: after seeing the superiority of soul tools and accepting the limits of hidden weapons, she chose cooperation and reform over preserving tradition unchanged. 22 24 50

Tang Ya initially feared that her life-devouring martial soul made her an Evil Soul Master. Under Bei Bei’s guidance, she accepted that her path would be determined by her choices rather than her martial soul’s nature, and learned to control her devouring power without harming people. 30 31 50

Tang Ya’s refusal to give up the Tang Sect residence brought her into conflict with Tie Tang and the Iron Blood Sect. Bei Bei and Zhang Lexuan helped defeat the attackers, but the incident underscored the Tang Sect’s weakness and isolation. 14 15 16

Tang Sect’s destruction and Shrek enrollment

After losing her parents and sect, Tang Ya came to Shrek Academy seeking strength and a means to restore the Tang Sect. Her beliefs were challenged by Bei Bei, who pushed her to confront the decline of hidden weapons and Blue Silver Grass. 22 24

Awakening of Dark Blue Silver Grass
