Background / History
Tie Kui was raised in the Land of Iron after the Uchiha Clan massacred the Tie Clan during the Warring States period. Her mother survived the massacre, was abducted by an Uchiha during its aftermath, and later returned to the Land of Iron under an assumed identity. After her mother's death, Tie Kui was left alone and grew to hate both the Uchiha Clan and Konoha for their connection to the tragedy. 47
She first met Senju Fujima as a proud samurai challenging a Konoha shinobi. Confident in her swordsmanship, she wagered that Fujima would become her follower if she won; after losing, she was forced into the opposite arrangement. Fujima later healed the hidden injuries accumulated through her harsh training and brought her to Konoha. 40 42
After seeing Fujima defeat the Three-Tails and use Wood Release, Tie Kui realized that he was the Senju Clan's young clan leader. Although initially resentful, she gradually came to rely on him, and Hashirama arranged her village registration and Ninja Academy enrollment. 46 47 59
Her grief over her family and jealousy toward Shizuka Uchiha triggered her Mangekyō Sharingan awakening. Black Zetsu, disguised as the rabbit-like “Bunny-Bun,” exploited her desire to resurrect her family and remain with Fujima, convincing her to seek Senju or Hashirama blood in pursuit of the Rinnegan. 81 82
Madara Uchiha later revealed himself to be Tie Kui's biological father. Before she learned the truth, he altered both her and her mother's memories to erase their hatred of Konoha and the Uchiha Clan; he also implanted feelings for Hiruzen Sarutobi to suppress her attachment to Fujima. Her second Rinnegan awakening broke the seal and restored her original memories. 148 171 173
Following the revelation, Tie Kui rejected the future Madara had imposed on her and confessed her feelings for Fujima. Her despair after his initial rejection led to a suicide attempt, which Fujima stopped. In time, she accepted that her feelings for Fujima were fondness rather than love, and later realized that she truly loved Tenmon Namikaze after he sacrificed himself to save her. 180 182 192 214
Appearance
Tie Kui is a young woman usually regarded as aloof and cold by those around her. When she smiles, however, she is noted for her rosy dimples and softer demeanor. 56 252
- Carries a katana at her waist and fights through quick-draw sword techniques. 40 112
- Her Mangekyō Sharingan has a distinctive miniature-katana design in both eyes. 81
- Wore a princess dress at her birthday banquet, startling her Anbu subordinates with her appearance. 252
Personality
Tie Kui is proud, disciplined, and fiercely protective of her samurai honor. She bows before a duel and refuses to surrender even after realizing that Fujima is overwhelmingly stronger than she is. 40 41
Her childhood losses left her resentful, emotionally vulnerable, and prone to equating strength with safety. Black Zetsu was able to manipulate these vulnerabilities by promising the return of her family and control over her future. 47 82
Despite her cold exterior, she is thoughtful and compassionate. When discussing a boy who had lost his father, she distinguished between pity for his circumstances and criticism of his behavior, showing a practical understanding of the world. 56
As an Anbu leader, Tie Kui becomes more composed and appreciative of others, publicly thanking her subordinates despite admitting that she could be harsh with them. 192 252
Abilities & Skills
Samurai Swordsmanship
Tie Kui is a skilled Land of Iron samurai whose fighting style centers on rapid draws, projected blade aura, and lightning-enhanced chakra swordplay. 40 41
- Secret Sword—Lightning Flash Slash — Fires a blue blade aura from a rapid katana draw. 40 112
- Secret Sword—Whirlwind Rending Wave Slash — Launches three spinning, lightning-infused sword beams. 41

Mangekyō Sharingan
Tie Kui awakened a unique Mangekyō Sharingan after her emotions erupted over her family trauma and Fujima's relationship with Shizuka. 81
- Her ocular technique merges illusion and reality, allowing her to vanish from sight and evade detection by Konoha's barrier. 82
- She can render attacks ineffective by allowing them to pass through her body, then reappear behind an opponent. 112
- Repeated use causes severe physical decline and risks blindness; Madara warns that her young body cannot sustain unlimited use. 82 137 148
- She can manifest Susanoo, though its defensive recovery was insufficient against sustained Water Release attacks. 148 168
Rinnegan
Tie Kui later possesses Rinnegan power and awakens a second Rinnegan while unconscious in Konoha Hospital. 171
- Her second awakening breaks Madara's memory-altering genjutsu and restores her original memories. 171
