Soro was eagerly anticipating it, his eyes fixed on the second hand as he watched it tick forward, one mark at a time.
"Soro, what's wrong?" Son Goku asked, briefly taken aback. He hovered in midair, then looked back and realized Soro hadn't followed. He quickly called out to him.
Krillin and Son Gohan, who had just taken off, stopped too. They hovered a few meters above the ground and turned to look at Soro.
"You guys go ahead," Soro suggested with a smile, pointing to the spaceship behind him. "I'll give it a once-over, then turn it into a Capsule and catch up."
In reality, Soro was waiting for his skill to refresh.
There was less than a minute left.
There was no need to go with them and join the excitement just yet.
Vegeta was only one little Saiyan. Soro didn't take him seriously at all.
"Just remember to come find us!" Son Goku nodded, not giving it much thought. He floated slightly higher.
"Um..." Krillin made up his mind and dropped out of the air, landing on the grass. "I'll stay too!"
He looked at Son Goku, then at Soro, his gaze sweeping back and forth between them twice. Suddenly, he felt that staying by Soro's side was probably safer.
"Okay." Son Goku didn't object and nodded.
Then Son Goku, Piccolo, and Son Gohan shot off toward Vegeta like three streaks of light, disappearing over the horizon in the blink of an eye.
Krillin chose to stay behind and stand with Soro.
"Soro," Krillin volunteered, clenching his fists in front of him, his gaze eager. "Is there anything you need help with?"
"Go aboard and tidy up the spaceship," Soro instructed, pointing toward it. "Get rid of the trash!"
"Sure thing!" Krillin agreed with a nod, then turned and headed toward the ship.
He paused and asked, "What about you, Soro?"
"I'll stay out here and keep watch, of course," Soro said with a smile, hands in his pockets as he glanced around. "What if some Frieza Force soldiers show up?"
He tilted his head, the corner of his mouth curling up.
"Why don't I clean up, and you stay here on watch?"
"I'll clean!" Krillin replied hurriedly, picking up his pace. "I'm on it!"
He took the steps two at a time, ran aboard the spaceship, pushed open the door, and went inside to start cleaning.
Soro stood beside the spaceship, his gaze fixed on the watch face.
The second hand kept moving.
Just as Krillin stepped aboard the spaceship,
two points of light appeared in the distance, growing closer and closer.
Sure enough, two Frieza Force soldiers patrolling nearby had tracked them down by sensing their battle power.
They descended from the sky and hovered a few meters above the ground, quickly spotting Soro standing dazed beside the spaceship.
"Huh?" One was a gray-blue alien with two antennae on his head. He muttered, tilting his head as his gaze swept over Soro twice. "Who's that?"
"He's not a Namekian," the other alien mused. He had a crocodile's head, and narrowed eyes with slit pupils. "He feels like a Saiyan!"
"Don't joke around," the gray-blue alien said with a chuckle, waving a hand. "The only Saiyans left are Vegeta and the others. All the rest are dead."
He paused, his expression turning cold.
"Doesn't matter who he is. Our orders are to kill everyone on this planet!"
As they spoke, they slowly rose higher into the air and moved toward Soro.
The energy cannons in their hands were fully charged, their muzzles glowing faintly.
"This guy's battle power is only 100!" the crocodile-headed alien said with a laugh, glancing at the Scouter on his wrist. A cruel smile spread across his face. "Looks like he came here as a tourist!"
"So he definitely isn't a Saiyan!" the gray-blue alien laughed. "How could a Saiyan have such low battle power?"
"There's another reaction inside the spaceship." The crocodile-headed alien looked up, his eyes falling on the ship behind Soro. "Don't let them get away. Let's destroy their spaceship first."
"You're right." The gray-blue alien nodded and adjusted his energy cannon.
The crocodile-headed alien finished adjusting his energy cannon and aimed it at the spaceship.
His finger rested on the trigger, and a cruel smile curled across his lips.
Just as the crocodile-headed alien was about to fire,
"Looking to die!"
Soro gave a cold snort. His voice wasn't loud, but it carried a chilling pressure.
He turned his gaze toward the crocodile-headed alien and glared at him.
In an instant, a powerful energy blasted from Soro's eyes, formless and colorless, moving too fast for the naked eye to catch.
The energy quickly took effect, enveloping the alien's entire body.
"Bang!"
The crocodile-headed alien exploded into a cloud of blood mist on the spot.
Flesh and blood sprayed in every direction, blooming like a red flower in the air before pattering down onto the blue grass.
He was as dead as could be.
The gray-blue alien beside him was completely stunned.
His body froze in midair, his mouth hanging open and his jaw nearly dropping as he stared in disbelief at his companion, now reduced to blood mist.
He opened and closed his mouth, unable to say a word.
A faint gulp sounded in his throat.
"You can die too!" Soro pointed at the gray-blue alien from afar, aiming at the center of his brow.
Powerful energy enveloped him again, formless, colorless, and soundless.
The gray-blue alien's body twisted violently. His bones cracked, and his muscles seemed to be kneaded by an invisible hand.
He opened his mouth, wanting to scream, but no sound came out.
In the blink of an eye, his body turned into a lump of flesh, and he died on the spot.
The lump of flesh fell from the air and hit the ground with a wet smack, splashing blood everywhere.
Soro lowered his hand and shifted his gaze away from the two pools of blood, returning it to the watch on his wrist.
The second hand kept moving.
Five seconds.
Four seconds.
Three seconds.
The corners of his mouth lifted slightly.
"It's here!" Soro was thrilled, his eyes shining. "The skill's finally refreshed!"
As the hands pointed to noon,
the three hands on the watch face overlapped with a soft click.
Skill refreshed!
Soro's consciousness sank into his body, and the icon in the bottom-right corner of his vision began to flash.
A brand-new icon appeared.
But when Soro saw the new skill, he froze.
His eyes widened, his mouth fell slightly open, and he stood stock-still.
What was going on?
What the hell kind of skill was this?
[Stare of Pregnancy]?!
Several question marks popped above Soro's head, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
It made no sense at all.
Then Soro took another careful look at the skill icon.
The icon was circular, with a dark purple background.
At its center was a wide-open eye, its eyelids stretched wide and its pupil vertical.
In the eye's pupil was the silhouette of a pregnant woman, her belly round and swollen.
This...
