Background

Sasuke survived the Uchiha Clan massacre and awakened his One-Tomoe Sharingan after witnessing it at seven years old. The loss of his family, together with his belief that Itachi was responsible, became the center of his life and fueled his determination to gain enough strength to kill his brother. 11 72

As Kakashi's student, Sasuke was regarded as Team 7's most likely candidate to place first in the Chunin Exams and received special training because he and Kakashi both possessed the Sharingan. 30 His confidence was shaken by stronger peers such as Rock Lee and Keiichi, but Keiichi's advice—that Sasuke's talent required patience and sustained effort—made him reconsider his reliance on natural ability. 19 21

Personality

Sasuke is intensely proud, competitive, and driven by a need to surpass those he considers stronger than himself. He initially underestimates Keiichi, but immediately becomes serious after recognizing him as a genuine rival. 42

His hatred of Itachi makes him willing to accept extreme risks. When Orochimaru asks whether he would pay with his life for power, Sasuke answers that death is acceptable if he can kill Itachi first. 72 This fixation repeatedly pushes him toward isolation, reckless confrontations, and a willingness to abandon former comrades. 61 257

Orochimaru's Disciple

Driven by revenge, Sasuke seeks Orochimaru's instruction and survives a test against the Sound Four. He accepts the Heavenly Cursed Seal despite knowing it may kill him, then increasingly relies on the power it provides. 72 93
