Even if he swapped in the Mangekyo Sharingan, the boost to his chakra would only bring him to the level of an elite jonin.

Even counting the abilities of the Mangekyo Sharingan, he could at most unleash Kage-level strength for a brief moment; within Konoha, that really isn't enough to be a threat.

He'd likely be taken down by the Konoha crowd after holding out for a short while—wouldn't that just be handing a Mangekyo over to someone else?

Chapter 47: Attacking Sarutobi Hiruzen

Danzo had already taken notice of him, and regardless of the reason, Hyuga Shin wanted to divert his attention.

Although Hyuga Shin was strong now, he hadn't reached the point of being invincible in the ninja world, and he didn't want to clash with that dog Danzo just yet; it wouldn't benefit him in the slightest.

"It's just a pair of Mangekyo Sharingan! They're useless to me anyway, so if they're gone, they're gone!" Hyuga Shin let it go; he didn't hold a pair of Mangekyo Sharingan in high regard.

"Shin, what are you thinking about?" Mikoto tugged at Shin slightly.

"Oh! It's nothing, let's go!"

"Then what about this guy?" Kushina pointed at the puppet. The bloody scene from just moments ago, when Hyuga Shin ordered this guy to gouge out his eyes, had terrified her.

"I have my own arrangements; you don't need to worry about it." Hyuga Shin took Mikoto by one hand and Kushina by the other, leading them away.

"Mikoto, Kushina, even though we are still young, since we have chosen to become ninjas, we must adapt. For a ninja, slaughter and bloodshed are unavoidable."

Hyuga Shin said to the two girls.

"Mm! I know that." Kushina nodded. In truth, she had already experienced far more cruel things; when the Land of Whirlpools was destroyed, countless members of her clan died right before her eyes—a scene hundreds of times bloodier than this.

Mikoto smiled gently. She had indeed felt slightly uncomfortable just now, but after Hyuga Shin held her hand, her heart calmed down.

Bringing the two girls back home, Mikoto went to cook, and Kushina followed to help, though calling it "helping" was a stretch—Kushina, who knew nothing about cooking, was really just making a mess.

Hyuga Shin returned to his room and used his Tenseigan to monitor every move of Uchiha Ryo. Any scene Uchiha Ryo saw could be seen simultaneously by Hyuga Shin if he wished, much like the Six Paths of Pain.

Uchiha Ryo was the puppet from the Anbu Root that Hyuga Shin was controlling; he had learned this by probing the man's memories.

When he left, Hyuga Shin had ordered him to refine chakra with everything he had, at any cost.

He was a pawn anyway, and a soon-to-be-discarded one at that, so he might as well maximize his utility.

At the very least, he had to divert the attention of Konoha's higher-ups; Hyuga Shin didn't want to be watched too closely before reaching Kage-level.

Over the past few days, he had clearly noticed Anbu members monitoring him and Kushina. Although Hyuga Shin was extremely annoyed, he had no choice but to endure it.

Killing a member of the Uchiha Clan within the village might not be a big deal, but the Anbu could absolutely not be touched.

Even if he really had to move against them, he would need an alibi or someone to take the fall.

Hyuga Shin planned to have Uchiha Ryo forcibly extract chakra at the cost of his own life, then assassinate the Third Hokage and frame it on Danzo or the Uchiha Clan.

He had to make a huge scene, preferably one that would alarm all of Konoha, so that no one would have the spare time to focus on them anymore.

As for what would happen to Danzo and the Uchiha in the end, Hyuga Shin didn't care in the slightest.

Five days passed, and Uchiha Ryo's chakra levels had reached the quasi-Kage level. This was his limit; it was hard to say how long it would take to improve further.

Hyuga Shin couldn't wait any longer; those Anbu outside were simply too much of an eyesore. Every time he and Kushina left the Hyuga compound, they were under surveillance.

Furthermore, Uchiha Ryo couldn't improve his strength any further. The side effects of forcibly boosting his chakra were severe; his cellular life energy was now withered, and he had less than a year to live.

If he were to force any more chakra refinement, he would definitely drop dead on the spot.

Tonight was the night of the full moon, and bright moonlight spilled over Konoha, casting a sliver of light into the pitch-black night.

The Hokage Building was brightly lit. It was already midnight, yet Sarutobi Hiruzen was still working in the Hokage office—such was the misery of being Hokage.

Sarutobi Hiruzen was holding a document, reading and reviewing it, when the door to the Hokage office opened.

A figure dressed as an Anbu with his head bowed walked in.

"Hmm? Who are you? Why have I never seen you before?" Sarutobi Hiruzen frowned, looking at this 'Anbu' member.

"The one who will kill you." He raised his head, his crimson eyes staring directly at Sarutobi Hiruzen, filled with killing intent and brutality, three black tomoe spinning within them.

"On the orders of Lord Danzo, I have come to take your dog life. Die! Fire Style: Great Dragon Fire Technique!"

Sarutobi Hiruzen's expression darkened. He performed hand seals, using an Earth Style: Earth Wall to block the fire dragon lunging at him.

The Anbu guarding Sarutobi Hiruzen in the shadows also reacted, instantly appearing around Uchiha Ryo and surrounding him.

"Who exactly are you?" Sarutobi Hiruzen's face was incredibly grim. Although the opponent claimed to be acting on Danzo's orders, he wouldn't trust information from an enemy, especially one with a Sharingan.

Or perhaps, Sarutobi Hiruzen simply didn't want to believe it.

"Hmph! A dead man has no need for so much chatter. Mangekyo Sharingan, activate!"

Uchiha Ryo's Sharingan spun rapidly, transforming into the shape of a shuriken. An evil aura enveloped the entire building, causing some of the Anbu ninjas to tremble in their hearts, their kunai clattering to the floor.

"This is the Mangekyo Sharingan... you have actually awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan." This time, Sarutobi Hiruzen was truly shocked.

He had grown up listening to the legends of the Mangekyo Sharingan and had once seen the peerlessly powerful Madara Uchiha; he knew just how formidable the Mangekyo Sharingan was.

"Take him down with everything you've got!" Sarutobi Hiruzen shouted, unleashing a B-rank Fire Style: Great Flame Bomb.

The others moved in unison, hurling kunai and shuriken interspersed with explosive tags toward Uchiha Ryo.

Under normal circumstances, Uchiha Ryo might truly have been finished, but for someone possessing the Mangekyo Sharingan, dying so easily would be an insult to the eyes themselves.

A yellow arm manifested, blocking every attack and leaving Uchiha Ryo completely unscathed.

This was the initial state of the Susanoo; while its defensive power was not yet peak, it was sufficient to withstand the majority of ninjutsu attacks.

As Uchiha Ryo's chakra was consumed, the chakra-formed skeleton encased him, rapidly growing flesh and meridians until it finally donned the Crow Tengu Armor, evolving into its third form.

The colossal Susanoo stood a full thirty meters tall, massive as a small mountain; the Hokage Building shattered into pieces, and Sarutobi Hiruzen was sent flying by the impact.

The powerful, malevolent chakra stirred the entire Konoha, waking countless ninjas from their sleep as they stared at the immense, despair-inducing Susanoo.

"What on earth is happening? Is someone attacking Konoha?"

"It seems to be coming from the direction of the Hokage Building. Hurry, let's go check—Lord Hokage must be safe!"

Countless ninjas rushed toward the Hokage Building.
