Background / History

Kushina survived the destruction of the Land of Whirlpools, witnessing the deaths of countless Uzumaki clansmen. Tsunade later brought her and Tomoko Uzumaki to Konoha, where they were believed to be the clan's last survivors. The loss of her homeland left Kushina insecure beneath her forceful exterior, though she gradually found support in Tsunade, Mikoto, and Hyuga Shin. 42 46 57

She entered the Ninja Academy as a transfer student alongside Tomoko. During her introduction, she openly declared that she liked ramen, hated tomatoes and “sissies,” disliked Hyuga Shin, and intended to become the first female Hokage. Her early hostility toward Shin grew from his blunt assessment that her tough behavior concealed emotional fragility. 38
