Background
Qian Daoliu is Spirit Hall’s Grand Pontiff, a Rank 99 Limit Douluo, and the Angel God’s High Priest. Having completed the Angel Eight Trials, he can borrow Angel Divine Power within Martial Soul City and the Angel God Temple, making him a demigod-level presence on his home ground 20 328.
He is the father of former Pope Qian Xunji and the grandfather of Qian Renxue. His decisions are consistently shaped by the preservation of Qian Renxue, the Angel Clan, and Spirit Hall’s stability—even when those priorities force him to compromise with Bibi Dong, the woman responsible for his son’s death 13 91.
Appearance
Qian Daoliu is an elderly yet imposing man whose presence can overwhelm entire gatherings without needing to release soul rings. During the Seven Great Sects assembly, he appeared in a simple gray robe with golden eyes and the phantom of a Six-Winged Angel behind him 89.
- Golden eyes that become visibly fierce when his authority or family is challenged 91.
- Radiates sacred golden Angel power rather than ordinary soul power when acting seriously 20 89.
- His Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul manifests as a towering divine phantom 20 328.
Personality
Qian Daoliu is restrained, calculating, and deeply protective of the Angel Clan. He initially recognizes Bibi Dong’s unprecedented talent as a safeguard for Spirit Hall, but privately regards her as a dangerous figure corrupted by an Evil God inheritance 5 13.
His devotion to family often conflicts with his public duties. He hides Qian Xunji’s death from Qian Renxue, covers up Bibi Dong’s involvement, and later refuses to reveal the full truth behind her mother’s hatred because he believes the knowledge would devastate his granddaughter 13 93.
Despite his immense personal strength, he avoids actions that could fracture Spirit Hall or destroy the Angel God’s faith. Nan Feng exploits this restraint by threatening to expose Qian Xunji’s crimes publicly, forcing Qian Daoliu to punish his own allies and eventually disown his deceased son 89 91.
Abilities & Skills
Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul
Qian Daoliu possesses the Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul and stands at Rank 99, placing him among the continent’s strongest mortal soul masters 60 328.
- Can fly and battle in the air with overwhelming mobility and pressure 50 60.
- His martial soul’s sacred aura can resist hostile divine power, including Tang Chen’s Asura power 328.
- His Angel Domain can directly contend with domains created by Bibi Dong and Nan Feng 60.
Angel Divine Power
As the Angel God’s High Priest, Qian Daoliu can draw upon true Angel Divine Power within Martial Soul City and the Angel God Temple’s range 20.
- Angel Domain — Immobilized Nan Feng’s Rank 97 Spider Emperor Avatar and suppressed its strength to the point that it could not move 20.
- Soul inspection — Used Angel Divine Power to probe Nan Feng’s avatar, finding no external possession or Evil God aura and concluding that it shared Bibi Dong’s soul origin 21.
- Divine concealment — Hid from Nan Feng’s heightened perception by using Angel God power rather than ordinary soul power 65.
- Attack suppression — Erased the combined attacks of six Titled Douluo during the Seven Great Sects assembly 89.
Combat Experience
Qian Daoliu is regarded as an invincible existence in the sky and one of the continent’s highest-ranked soul masters 328.
- Held back Tang Chen’s Asura-enhanced assault for nearly a hundred exchanges despite recognizing that he could not ultimately stop Tang Chen’s divine power 328 331.
- Was eventually overwhelmed when Tang Chen’s repeated hammer strikes cracked the Six-Winged Angel phantom and sent him crashing into Spirit City 331.
- Treats divine power as a decisive factor capable of overturning ordinary rank differences, as demonstrated by his earlier suppression of Nan Feng’s Rank 97 avatar 20 51.
Relationships
- Qian Xunji — His son and the former Pope of Spirit Hall. Qian Daoliu mourned his severe injury and death, concealed that Bibi Dong killed him, and later publicly removed him from the Angel Clan genealogy under political pressure 5 13 91.
- Qian Renxue — His granddaughter and foremost emotional vulnerability. He protects her closely, conceals painful truths from her, and supports her leadership of the Heaven Dou infiltration plan 20 93 111.
- Bibi Dong — Initially a gifted subordinate whom he sees as essential to Spirit Hall’s future; later his most dangerous political rival. He installs her as Pope to preserve stability and keep her under observation, but is forced to yield authority as she turns public opinion against the Qian family 5 13 89 91.
- Nan Feng — Qian Daoliu initially interprets Nan Feng’s avatar as an independent split personality of Bibi Dong. Their relationship is openly hostile after Qian Daoliu probes the avatar’s soul with Angel Divine Power, prompting it to self-destruct 18 20 21.
- Golden Crocodile Douluo — Longtime ally and Second Worship of Spirit Hall. Qian Daoliu confides Qian Xunji’s death to him, then strips him of his authority and confines him when Nan Feng’s public accusations leave no other way to preserve Spirit Hall’s legitimacy 13 89.
- Tang Chen — A fellow veteran powerhouse and enemy whose return with Asura Divine Power threatens both Qian Daoliu and the Angel God’s legacy. Qian Daoliu fights him to keep Bibi Dong alive and prevent Tang Chen from completing his divine trial 329 330 331.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Bibi Dong’s Return and Qian Xunji’s Death
When Bibi Dong returns from seclusion as a Title Douluo, Qian Daoliu is impressed by her Twin Martial Souls and extraordinary talent. He entrusts her with Pope Palace affairs while Qian Xunji recovers from Tang Hao’s attack 5.
After Bibi Dong kills and devours Qian Xunji, Qian Daoliu chooses concealment over retaliation. He blames Tang Hao and the Clear Sky Sect, then permits Bibi Dong to become Pope because her strength can stabilize Spirit Hall while keeping her within reach of the Worship Hall 13.
The “Split Personality” Investigation
Qian Daoliu becomes convinced that Bibi Dong has suffered a cultivation deviation after witnessing her alternating hostility and maternal affection toward Qian Renxue 6 8 9.
When Bibi Dong and Nan Feng stage a battle between two identical versions of her, he concludes that the avatar is a mutated soul skill or split personality influenced by Evil God power 17 18. His subsequent Angel Divine Power inspection drives Nan Feng’s avatar to self-destruct, worsening Qian Renxue’s distrust of him 20 21 22.
Conflict Over the Clear Sky Sect
Qian Daoliu opposes Bibi Dong’s escalation against the Clear Sky Sect, fearing that Tang Chen could return as a god and retaliate against Spirit Hall 50. He confronts Bibi Dong after the campaign, but Nan Feng’s aggressive personality challenges him directly before Bibi Dong retakes control of her body 60.
Public Defeat by Bibi Dong
At the Seven Great Sects assembly, Qian Daoliu intervenes when Golden Crocodile and several pontiffs attempt to silence Nan Feng. He suppresses their attack, then punishes Golden Crocodile to contain the political damage caused by Qian Xunji’s exposed crimes 89.
Nan Feng later forces Qian Daoliu to publicly condemn Qian Xunji, remove his memorial tablet from Douluo Hall, strip him of the papal title, and expunge him from the Angel Clan genealogy. Qian Daoliu leaves Spirit City humiliated as Bibi Dong consolidates control over Spirit Hall 91.
Tang Chen’s Return
Qian Daoliu senses Tang Chen’s return when Asura Divine Power approaches Spirit City and immediately recognizes that he cannot easily resist it 328. He nevertheless confronts Tang Chen to prevent Bibi Dong’s death from completing Tang Chen’s divine trial and bringing future destruction upon the Angel Clan 329 330.
After nearly one hundred exchanges, Tang Chen breaks through Qian Daoliu’s defense and defeats him, allowing Nan Feng and Bibi Dong to escape toward the Star Dou Forest 331.
