Background and History

Tang Yi is Tang Shizhe’s first Splitter. Identical to him at creation, Tang Yi receives the name “Tang Yi” and is assigned to attend classes in his place. Tang Shizhe later instructs Tang Yi to call him “Boss” rather than “Matriarch” so their manner of address will attract less attention 3 4.

At Titan Group’s early base, Tang Yi buys supplies, protects Tang Shizhe during splitting, and researches people Tang Shizhe encounters. After Zhao Yin’s death, Tang Yi helps assemble a profile of her habits, contacts, and voice so the Brood Mother can impersonate her 5 6 7 22. Tang Yi also establishes overseas shell companies and recruits Jiro as an explicitly subordinate CEO for Sman Group 27.

As Titan Group expands, Tang Yi handles financing and reports on the group’s finances. Tang Yi negotiates a 20-billion-USD bank loan, later warns that several subsidiaries cannot support themselves, and helps arrange the proposed public listing of Titan Medical’s Bio-Device division 123 178. Tang Yi subsequently heads Titan Group’s Space Development Department and directs the Republic of Mali Space Agency, with responsibility for Orbital Light Space City and the group’s future space fleet 332.

Tang Yi later becomes a senior Federation military leader and commander of the Republic Space Force. Tang Yi takes charge of the Kaqi war while Tang Shizhe evolves, then commands operations against the Mosed Church 428 445 569 581 582.

Personality

Tang Yi is loyal to Tang Shizhe but does not simply agree with every expenditure: Tang Yi questions the cost of expansion and repeatedly raises the group’s financial constraints 4 120 129 178. Tang Yi can also act independently and ruthlessly. Following Kaqi attacks on Federation leaders and Tang Shizhe, Tang Yi pursues a biological-weapons retaliation despite Tang Er’s warning that Tang Shizhe may punish the decision 428 429.
