Background

After graduating from university, Jiang Ran awakened a career panel that records experience from any socially recognized occupation. Seeking both self-sufficiency and a way to accumulate transferable Profession Points, he deliberately worked numerous jobs before settling into three stable roles: psychology teacher, cultural relic appraiser, and mixed martial arts coach. His choice of varied work was motivated less by income than by personal freedom. 1 2

At Fengcheng No. 3 High School, he became known as a skilled, approachable psychology teacher. His near-maxed Psychology skill allows him to identify motives and steer students toward choices they genuinely want, as seen when he helps Li Hao confront pressure to enter medical school. 1

While appraising excavated artifacts at the Feng City Museum, Jiang Ran touched a strange clod of earth and received the qualification of Void Walker. Preparing for the Void's midnight opening, he armed himself with practical survival equipment and relied on his existing combat experience rather than assuming the supernatural would protect him. 1 2

Appearance

Jiang Ran initially presents as a refined, gentle-looking young man whose appearance contrasts sharply with his combat ability. At school, he favors clean, approachable clothing; when operating as the Wisdom King, he conceals himself behind Nuo Opera Masks and dark combat attire. 1 10 47

  • Delicate, gentle features and a calm expression that make him appear nonthreatening at first glance. 10
  • Black eyes; when using certain masks, his visible gaze is described as scarlet. 184
  • Often wears dark hoodies, black clothing, or simple shirts and trousers outside combat. 21 52
  • Uses the pure-black Faceless Nuo Opera Mask as his most recognizable disguise. 45 47
  • Can switch to the gold-and-crimson Martial God: Power mask in battle. 66

Personality

Jiang Ran is calm, analytical, and highly self-directed. He assesses danger before acting, values preparation, and avoids institutions or alliances that would compromise his independence. Although he accepts resources and practical partnerships, he repeatedly refuses to become subordinate to larger organizations. 2 23

His training philosophy is intensely pragmatic. He treats skills, occupations, cultivation methods, equipment, and even professional teaching work as interconnected routes toward greater strength. He favors adaptable combat over rigid forms and actively tests the limits of new abilities against stronger opponents. 2 13 40

Jiang Ran is capable of empathy and protection, particularly toward students, civilians, and those under Kui's protection. He saves civilians from the Silver Worm and rejects the idea of allowing monsters to slaughter nearby humans simply because the victims are not his immediate objective. 21 24 60

At the same time, he is ruthless toward perceived threats, traitors, hostile factions, and Alien Humans. He kills Qian Laojiu's group when they move to seize his gains, eliminates the Old Nine Gates before they can investigate him, and later wages open war against Alien Human nations. 43 51 197
