Background

Ace named the vessel Eclipse when the Eclipse Pirates first set sail from the East Blue. It began as an expensive, medium-sized fast ship with an unusually stable chassis and exceptional speed. 8

Under Jeno's direction, the Eclipse was progressively converted from a high-speed sailing vessel into a heavily armored warship. Its earliest major refit replaced the bow with a Starfall Black Steel Vermilion Bird ram and installed steam boilers with concealed paddle wheels. 53

The crew later used the ship to ascend the Knock-Up Stream, reach Sky Island, and ultimately travel to the moon after Jeno incorporated Sky Island Dial technology into a flight-capable propulsion system. 58 76 77

Following the Water 7 incident, Jeno, Franky, and Iceburg completed a more comprehensive rebuild using Starfall Black Steel and Treasure Tree Adam. The completed Eclipse abandoned conventional sails in favor of three engines, deep-hull suspension propulsion, and stern blast vents. 84 95

Appearance

The Eclipse is a massive, streamlined black warship with a teardrop-shaped hull. Its armored frame bears dark-gold circuitry, while its bow is dominated by a sharp Vermilion Bird ram forged from Starfall Black Steel. 76 106

• Its hull is reinforced with Starfall Black Steel and Treasure Tree Adam. 95
