Kaguolet had already found the First Prince's words repulsive, and he found the prince's actions utterly unforgivable.
Kaguolet raised a hand, and a white spear pierced straight through the First Prince's body.
Everyone present froze. No one had imagined that Kaguolet would actually kill the First Prince.
"He was the city lord's proudest son!" a guard said to Kaguolet. "Though what he did enraged both heaven and man, no one ever doubted his talent."
"You should run," the guard told Kaguolet. "Now that you've killed him, the city lord will never let you off."
"I'll explain this matter clearly to the city lord myself," Kaguolet said.
Without another look back, Kaguolet headed toward the main city.
The young woman had also been so terrified by the scene before her that she stopped crying. She stood there blankly, not knowing what to do.
"Run! What are you still doing here?" the guard said to the young woman.
"This is a disaster! All of us will be implicated. Hurry and leave!" the guard continued.
Hearing the guard's words, the young woman hurriedly ran outside.
The two guards looked at each other. "Lord Kaguolet is in trouble now. Trading one life for another would be the best outcome."
"I only hope the city lord won't make things difficult for Kaguolet," the other guard said helplessly. "And I hope he won't make things difficult for us either."
Once inside the main city, the city lord personally received Kaguolet with great warmth. He even came down himself to help Kaguolet up as he was bowing.
The two entered an inner room and sat down.
"It was hard on you to go to Red Rock City this time. How did things go? The losses weren't too great, were they? Are the people all right?" the city
