"Then I shall repair the genjutsu traps for you." The Three-Legged Golden Crow glared at Yashui. "Repairs complete. Can your body still hold out long enough to show me your Fire Release now?"
"No problem." Although Yashui detested the inexplicable knowledge that surfaced whenever he activated his Sharingan, these insights always seemed to aid him at critical moments.
Yet, Yashui did not want to rely on this uncontrollable power. He preferred to gain strength through his own training. Perhaps Yashui was diligent now, but he feared that one day he would become slothful due to such a simple and convenient shortcut to strength.
Yashui formed the hand seals for the Great Fireball Technique. He then exhaled a massive fireball toward the distance.
The fireball was over five meters wide, already far more powerful than when Sasuke had first debuted the technique.
Yashui had not expected such a result. Merely by training his chakra refinement speed and output speed, he had elevated a C-rank Fire Release to this degree.
"Fire Release is the best way to test a ninja's true strength. The power of a Fire Release does not depend on the rank of the ninjutsu, but rather relies more on the ninja's own capability. Your strength is already more than double what it was a month ago." The Three-Legged Golden Crow saw it in his eyes and felt joy in his heart.
"As for the next stage of training, you will have to practice at home on your own," the Three-Legged Golden Crow said.
"The next training... what is it?" Yashui asked.
"Everything I have had you train on so far has been the foundation of foundations. Now that you have mastered your chakra refinement speed, output speed, and the techniques of chakra refinement, the next step is to learn chakra control." The Three-Legged Golden Crow took a sip of rice wine. "The next item of training is something we birds have never needed to train, but you humans must. That is tree climbing."
Yashui had heard of this training; it was a mandatory course for every ninja.
"You will have to figure out the specific techniques yourself. This old one is going to sleep for a while." The Three-Legged Golden Crow turned around and closed his eyes.
The Three-Legged Golden Crow's teaching style was indeed unique; he disliked lecturing and preferred to let his students discover things for themselves.
"Understood, Master. Goodbye. Once I have completed this, I will come to find you again." Yashui formed the seals and returned to Konoha.
There were four days left until the Ninja Academy graduation exam. The graduation exam was extremely simple and could be passed with ease. Moreover, after the Three-Legged Golden Crow's guidance, Yashui's strength had greatly improved.
To say nothing of how strong he had become, at the very least, Yashui's current strength was enough to qualify him as a competent genin.
Yashui was not satisfied; he had to continue training. At the very least, he felt his strength needed to reach a level where he could contend with the Anbu of Konoha.
Konoha was somewhat lacking in certain facilities. For instance, the training grounds only contained local Konoha trees, which were only a few meters tall. It was rare to find taller trees in Konoha.
It wasn't that shorter trees wouldn't work, but perhaps Yashui was overthinking it; he worried that if the height wasn't sufficient, he wouldn't be able to train properly.
After much deliberation, Yashui decided to climb the rock wall carved with the faces of the past Hokage.
To avoid attracting attention, Yashui found a very secluded spot to begin his training. Tree climbing was truly not a simple task. In the anime, it looked like a move anyone could do later on, but starting from scratch, it was incredibly difficult.
Yashui looked at the sheer, vertical rock wall and pulled a kunai from his ninja tool pouch. He took a running start and rushed up. But after only a few steps onto the rock, he tumbled down.
Before falling, Yashui used the kunai to make a mark on the rock wall. While climbing, he had felt as though he had climbed quite high, but from the ground, it was only a little over two meters.
"I remember that Naruto and Sasuke both completed this training in a single day. My talent is not that of a genius, but it isn't bad either. I can do it too!" Yashui set a goal for himself, and his drive to charge upward surged.
With his training in chakra refinement speed and output speed as a foundation, Yashui's current training proceeded smoothly; at the very least, he no longer needed to stop halfway to refine more chakra.
Aside from a few mistakes in the first few attempts, once he gained a little experience, Yashui's progress became unstoppable. In just over half a day, he reached the summit of the rock wall.
Regarding this training, Yashui did not feel there was much technique to it. The only thing required was to inject sufficiently powerful chakra into the soles of his feet and use that chakra to support his body.
"Is that it?" Yashui stood at the top of the rock wall, looking down over the entirety of Konoha. Was this training a bit too simple?
Ever since he began training with the Three-Legged Golden Crow a month ago, he had never undergone such simple training.
He sat on the cliff edge and wondered, had he truly become that much stronger?
"Young man! How did you get up here?" Suddenly, someone called out to Yashui from behind.
Yashui was so startled he nearly fell off the cliff. If he had been careless and tumbled down, that would have been a legendary way to go.
Steadying his heartbeat, Yashui turned his head to look at the guy in front of him.
A green spandex suit entered Yashui's vision.
Good heavens! This wasn't a human! This was clearly a kappa come to life!
Yashui was so frightened by the man's appearance that he backed away repeatedly, and in his carelessness, he fell off the cliff. This time... it was truly game over.
"Wait! My summoning animal is a bird, why would I die?" Yashui said, biting his finger. "Ninja Art: Summoning Jutsu!"
An eagle appeared beneath Yashui, and it muttered, "Is it the long-lost Uchiha Clan?"
"Sorry... I nearly fell to my death, which is why I called you out..." Yashui scratched his head and hurriedly apologized to the eagle.
"Forget it. Do young people these days have so little respect for their summoning animals?" The eagle was covered in cold sweat. "Your level is truly pathetic; you can even fall off a cliff while training."
"Hehehe..." Yashui wore a face full of smiles, though in his heart, he was cursing that kappa-like creature from before.
"Anything else? If not, I'm heading back." The eagle returned Yashui to the ground, asked the question, and without waiting for an answer, unilaterally canceled the summoning jutsu.
"Was that your summoning animal just now? A truly powerful fellow." The guy in the green spandex had followed him down at some point. Yashui hadn't felt a thing.
Yashui looked closely and realized that the person before him was Might Guy, the man who had nearly kicked the series to its finale in one blow!
He was truly worthy of being a jonin; he had descended from such a high cliff without making a sound. There wasn't even a bead of sweat on him.
"Did you use this method to climb the cliff just now, young man?" Might Guy glanced at the cliff and praised, "To be able to sign a contract with such a powerful summoning animal at such a young age, you are truly extraordinary."
