Magic and Chakra

Finding a secluded spot nearby, Uchiha Iori began attempting to convert the magical techniques of the Heroic Spirits into ninjutsu or Nintaijutsu.

He had quite a few optional skills on hand, but the most useful and promising one to complete was Mana Burst.

Mana Burst: An ability that strengthens one's weapon and body by imbuing them with magical energy.

While the description sounded plain and simple, it was, in reality, an incredibly practical ability.

[The problem is, although both magical energy and chakra are extracted from life force.]

[Magical energy is refined from life force through magic circuits, while chakra is a combination of physical and mental energy.]

[Hmm, I suppose I have to account for the vegetative nature of the Ninja World's inhabitants as well.]

His gaze flickered as he pondered rapidly in his mind.

[Essentially, this ability is just using energy to reinforce the body.]

[The Ninja World actually has many ninjutsu with similar effects, such as Lightning Release Armor, the Eight Inner Gates, and the Earth Spear technique. It would be great if I could use those as references.]

Iori thought to himself, a glimmer of anticipation flashing in his eyes.

Thanks to Medea, Uchiha Iori didn't need to worry too much about the safety risks of developing new ninjutsu; as long as he didn't learn himself to death, he would keep pushing until he did.

He focused his mind, circulating chakra throughout his body and attempting to use it in the manner of Mana Burst. After several experiments, Uchiha Iori successfully managed to put himself into a near-death state.

"No wonder the Second Hokage and Orochimaru resorted to human experimentation. If you do it yourself, you don't have enough lives to waste."

He gave a wry smile, cold sweat beading on his forehead from the pain.

"Is it a problem with the Heroic Spirit's constitution, or is chakra simply too violent?"

Iori couldn't fathom the reason. After healing himself, he tearfully abandoned the idea of quickly transitioning from an agile warrior to a heavy-armor warrior.

"Fine, I'll lower my requirements this time. I won't consider full-body release; as long as I can succeed with just my hands or legs, that'll be enough."

He sighed helplessly, lowering his expectations.

Reinforcing his hands would increase his offensive power, while reinforcing his legs would boost his mobility. Succeeding in either would enhance his immediate combat effectiveness.

Iori carefully guided his chakra to his legs, slowly increasing it to the limit of his fine control, mimicking the form of Mana Burst.

Swish... swish... swish... He tried running and discovered his speed was far greater than before, with better results than the standard ninja sprint.

"I wonder if I can layer the Body Flicker Technique on top of this. If I can, my speed probably won't be any worse than Shisui's in the future."

He couldn't help but mutter to himself, a hint of excitement flashing in his eyes.

"Though it probably still can't compare to the Flying Thunder God. Space-time ninjutsu really is on another level."

Thinking of Obito's Kamui and Minato's Flying Thunder God, Uchiha Iori almost shed tears of envy and jealousy.

Iori attempted to use the Body Flicker Technique while maintaining Mana Burst.

Bang! A sharp pain erupted from his lower leg as the uncontrolled chakra shredded his flesh. Iori had to stop his training to heal his injuries first.

"Mana Burst is usable in its preliminary form, but it cannot be mixed with other self-targeting ninjutsu. I'll refine the specifics after I return to the village to study more medical and ninjutsu knowledge."

Iori recorded most of his thoughts in his notebook, keeping only the key information in his mind to facilitate future practice.

"It's about time. Let's head back."

Iori thought, feeling somewhat exhausted from the repeated cycle of injury and healing.

"I can ask the Hall of Heroes later. Even if that half-baked druid Cú Chulainn is unreliable, there's still Miss Medea. She is a magus from the Age of Gods, after all."

"Iori, are you saying you want me to help you change the energy used to activate magic from magical energy to what you call chakra?"

Medea (Lily) felt very happy; being needed made her feel delighted.

"Yes. I don't know much about magical energy, and my understanding of chakra isn't very deep either. I hope you can help me handle the magical energy side of things, while I collect and organize data on chakra in the Ninja World."

Iori sat beside her, projecting the information he knew into a notebook and handing it to her.

"Oh, magical energy and chakra? I'll analyze them. Leave it to me."

Medea (Lily) patted her chest, saying proudly:

"Don't let my young appearance fool you. I am a priestess of the goddess Hecate, and a magus of the Age of Gods, you know!"

"Yes, yes, Miss Medea is truly amazing."

Iori said with a doting expression. He had always wanted a younger sister, and Medea (Lily) perfectly filled that void.

Jason is truly detestable, and Aphrodite is no good either. For such a wonderful child to end up so miserable later on—no matter how he looked at it, it was their fault. Iori's thoughts drifted far away.

"Iori, what are you thinking about? I'm talking to you."

Medea (Lily) puffed out her cheeks, saying with a hint of annoyance.

She had finished reading the data Uchiha Iori gave her, but she hadn't received a response while talking to him.

"Oh, oh, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I was just thinking about what kind of special desserts I could find in the Ninja World to give to you."

Iori quickly covered up his thoughts. He couldn't mention those things in front of her; she would surely be heartbroken if she remembered.

"Really? I'm looking forward to it!"

Medea (Lily)'s eyes lit up as she asked with curiosity.

"In my memories, the Three-Color Dango of Konoha seems quite delicious; many ninjas love to eat them. Once I return to Konoha, I'll bring you a few skewers first. If they taste good, I'll see if I can get my hands on the secret recipe."

Uchiha Iori finally recalled the specialty of Konoha, the favorite of Anko Mitarashi and Itachi Uchiha: the Three-Color Dango.

"I shall look forward to it."

Medea (Lily) sat down in a ladylike manner.

"Let me first analyze the generalities for you. On our side in the West, we generally have the five great elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Ether, plus the two imaginary elements of Void and Nothingness, totaling seven."

She paused for a moment and continued, "As for the Ninja World where you reside, it consists of Water, Fire, Lightning, Earth, and Wind, plus Yin and Yang."

"To activate magecraft, we need to make contact with the magecraft foundations already inscribed upon the world to trigger the incantations," she explained.

"Whereas in the Ninja World, it is activated by controlling the flow of chakra through the method of hand seals."

"Iori, have you discovered any commonalities?" Medea (Lily) asked.

"Except for the Lightning attribute, the other basic attributes overlap. The Ninja World lacks magecraft foundations, but one could consider replicating the types through the method of hand seals."

Iori replied, his brows furrowing slightly as he began to ponder.

"Correct. I will help you organize suitable magecraft related to Earth, Water, Fire, and Wind first. Once you have collected the data regarding ninjutsu and chakra, I will help you adjust them."

"As for Heroic Spirit skills like Mana Burst, your previous line of thought was quite good," she continued.

"For now, on one hand, you lack control over chakra; practicing medical ninjutsu should be helpful. On the other hand, there is the issue of the difference between mana and chakra, which still requires your data."

Medea (Lily) said helplessly; even a clever housewife cannot cook without rice. Without understanding chakra, she could not make a judgment.

"Once the war ends, I will collect it as soon as possible. And your Three-Color Dango—I won't forget that either." Iori set a flag.

"Then it's a promise." Medea (Lily) said with a smile, filled with anticipation.
