Tarsonis
This is the origin of the Terrans. The leaders of the Confederate Congress and the Old Families call this warm and pleasant world the beacon of human civilization in the Koprulu Sector.
Tarsonis.
This world, once renowned for its lush landscapes and enchanting lakes and seas, is the economic and political center of the Terran Confederacy. In this era, the wealth and resources flowing in from hundreds of colonies make Tarsonis shine ever brighter.
From the porthole of the traveler's ship carrying Augustus, the Tarsonis City —a city far more magnificent than Sterling— stretched all the way to the horizon.
Countless towering buildings seem to support the sky, their jagged edges hidden in the hazy mist, while the city's colorful lights remain bright even in the early morning when the sun is about to rise.
Every tower that Augustus saw seemed to be an artist's masterpiece; all the towering towers strived to stand out among thousands of towering buildings through their graceful curves and unique architectural art.
Tarsonis City was so magnificent and vast that even after an hour of travel, the spaceship had not yet touched any of its boundaries. Even Sterling City, with its five million inhabitants, was merely one of Tarsonis City's hundreds of districts, and the population living in the city's suburbs alone exceeded the combined population of many colonies' entire planets.
Inside the spaceship, an intelligent machine announcer connected to the main signal tower was introducing the history of Tarsonis to the passengers in a precise, fluent, but emotionless voice. However, after Raynor, who was drowsy from being unable to adjust to leaving the hyperspace travel state, turned down the volume, the sound of Harnack and Josephine chewing broad beans immediately drowned out the mechanical voice.
"This place is fucking huge," Harnack remarked.
"Sterling is nothing but an infant compared to Tarsonis," Josephine added. "And your hometown, Shiloh ... well, it's just a clump of mud in this quagmire of the universe."
"Hey, buddy. I can't pretend I didn't hear that." Raynor seemed a little better.
While still in Shiloh, Raynor spent a long time persuading his father to give up his work on the farm. After a formal bonus distribution document was issued, his parents finally agreed to use a small portion of the money to improve their living standards, which left Raynor exhausted.
"This place is truly a paradise for mankind! I heard from ' No-Legs George, ' the bartender at the Fleets Bar, that all the most beautiful women in the world are here. I hope the prices aren't too high, or I'll be broke again soon." Tychus looked out the window at the skyscrapers of Tarsonis City and the endless stream of vehicles on the main roads with great interest.
"I just remembered something, Boss Mengsk, could you lend me some money?"
"How come you're broke again? Tens of millions!" Augustus rarely showed such extreme surprise.
"How many women did you see in one night? Eight or ten? Are you an animal?"
"Not that many. Of course, you know the situation," Tychus said vaguely.
Tychus Finley loved money, but he wasn't a miser or a hoarder; he preferred to squander and enjoy life, spending his money on women, alcohol, and cigars.
"Boss, you have no idea what outrageous things Tychus did while you were away from Meinhoff." Josephine was sitting next to Augustus: "Haji's imported cigars, each one rolled on the thigh of a chocolate-skinned beauty, cost almost a thousand credits each. A box of them would be enough for me to pawn my pants, and he bought them by the truckload."
"Tychus also likes to stuff money into girls' breasts as soon as they meet them; Porter of 2421 Quinn Winery are nothing to him. Every night he wants the top girl, and he always books out the entire strip club, having dozens of women strip naked and dance around him, indulging in debauchery in pools filled with fine wine. Perhaps only a man can satisfy him."
"You're just jealous of me, you spineless Josephine," Tychus glared at her.
"Alright." Augustus told Josephine to stop, otherwise Tychus would eventually call him to the bathroom alone.
"Don't tell me, Tychus, that you've spent all your money again. I know you must have made a lot of money when you sold the crystals, but even so, money isn't endless," Augustus said to Tychus.
"I'm not so extravagant as to be wasteful," Tychus said nonchalantly. "But who knows what little mishap might happen one day."
"Alright, if you ever need money, you can come to me anytime," Augustus. "I assure you, I have the resources to give you the life you want. The condition is..."
"On the condition that I'm worth the price. Listen, you might think old Tychus is a bastard, but as long as the money's right, I'd blow up this Tarsonis." Tychus said with great satisfaction.
"You make me sound like a villain," Augustus. "I don't need you to destroy the world."
By this time, the spaceship carrying them had entered the city center of Tarsonis City. The number of high-rise buildings gradually increased, and the spaceship traveled through the clouds, with red laser beams for air defense identification constantly sweeping past below it.
Ahead, Augustus saw several buildings far taller than ordinary skyscrapers. These colossal structures Sky Tower, known as Sky Tower, overlooked the entire city like Giant, each belonging to a powerful Old Families.
Augustus saw nearly ten Sky Tower. These Sky Towers were all different in style; some were Gothic black spires, some were ornate Baroque buildings, and others were even more bizarre, resembling a piece of transparent crystal or a majestic and angular black steel structure.
These unique architectural styles are closely related to the preferences of each Old Families and the family businesses they focused on.
On these Sky Tower, Augustus saw magnificent English letters, marking the surnames of each family: Kucinis, Duke, Terra, Calabas, De Abanwells, Bennett.
Then the spaceship began its descent. No civilian or military ships were allowed to fly over the Family Sky Tower, so Augustus and his Heaven's Devils had to travel by car to the Sky Tower of the Tagore Family to make an appearance at the birthday banquet of the family matriarch, Andrea Tagore.
"Will the other members of the Old Families participate?" Lisa Cassidy asked as she disembarked from the spaceship and boarded a hoverbus on a wide road leading to the Tagore Sky Tower.
"Yes, unless they want to break with the Tagore Family," Augustus. "Each family will send one or two members, and those closer to the Tagore Family will send more."
"So, there will be many beautiful ladies and noblewomen attending the banquet?" Lisa asked again.
"That's right, but that's irrelevant," Augustus said to his men. "I may not be able to take all of you in."
"But you can stay in the side hall where ordinary guests are received."
A chorus of sighs immediately rose from the surrounding area, with Tychus's voice being the loudest.
