In March 2489, in the city of Korhal IV Sterling City, politicians in the city council hall, financial tycoons from the Victoria District, and nobles of high status keenly sensed a shift in the winds. Ambitious individuals sought to rise to power amidst the chaos, while those nobles and wealthy merchants who valued their lives simply wanted to escape to their private estates far from Korhal.

People calling themselves the Korhal Independence Party appeared in the city's squares, parks, stadiums, train stations, and all public places and towns. Their political demands received widespread support from the public and from a group of politicians and the new aristocracy led by Korhal Senator Angus Mengsk.

The revolutionaries spontaneously formed a militia organization whose numbers and strength expanded rapidly in a very short period of time. They recruited people from all walks of life and all social classes, including all passionate young people and ambitious individuals. This organization also recruited members of gangs with mafia-like characteristics.

As if overnight, these revolutionaries were everywhere, their activities and public speeches were ubiquitous, and pamphlets with dozens of political ideals were openly distributed to everyone, proclaiming the independence of the great Korhal Empire and the return of the sacred rights that originally belonged to the people to all.

Chaos ensued as revolutionaries began storming the speaking venues of some members of parliament who held differing views from Angus, using rotten eggs, tomatoes, or noise to embarrass the speakers and force them to step down. In recent days, there were even reports of a member of parliament having several ribs broken by angry, unidentified mobs.

Angus Mengsk's speech, marked by a fist-pumping gesture, was being shown on IAA Holographic Projection screens in many skyscrapers and business centers, and even the UNN branch building in Sterling began broadcasting Angus speech.

At this moment Augustus, who was signing documents while drinking strong coffee in the underground headquarters of the Korhal Revolutionary Army, was the mastermind behind all of this. Working day and night, Augustus slept four hours a day, and his dark circles and pale face made him look somewhat haggard.

It was the morning of March 18th. After working all night, Augustus suddenly put down his pen and lay back in his office chair for a while.

When Augustus awoke again, Lisa Cassidy was standing behind him, massaging his shoulders, her long, ginger-yellow hair making his nose itch.

"Have Yelude write a few more drafts reiterating the significance of Korhal IV's independence. Our bottom line is to make this planet a permanent autonomous dominion and a neutral country that will never go to war. Tell UNN's deputy editor, Xiao Bangke, that he wants to rewrite a speech analyzing the superiority of democratic systems," Augustus continued.

Where is Jim now?

"Jim is being trained by instructors from the Umojan Protectorate in New Amsterdam, a port city in the Southern Hemisphere—you sent him there the day before yesterday, and Tychus went with him because he heard there's money to be made there," Lisa replied.

"I thought it was yesterday." Augustus thought back carefully, "I agree that Jim wants to sail a big ship. But he doesn't understand what all those numerous indicator buttons and signals on a battlecruiser mean. A captain doesn't necessarily have to know how to pilot a warship, but I think Jim should learn."

"He's very smart; he can learn many things almost instantly, but I don't want him to always be a mediocre person."

"Jim is very happy because you also put him in charge of the newly formed Raynor's Raiders squadron. Most of the soldiers in this air force squadron are foreign nationals, with Mar Sara and Shiloh being the most numerous," Lisa said.

"Yes, I even came up with the name of this squadron," Augustus.

"Because I have very few reliable men at my disposal, handing the troops over to officers of Umojan is not a long-term solution, and promoting a commander from the rank of rank seems too hasty. Many people feel that it is hard to believe that a corporal can be the commander of a Fleets, but this is already the best of a bad bunch."

"They'll understand one day that Korhal Khar is no ordinary man."

"As for Tychus, forget it. I don't expect him to be of any use. I'll be grateful if he doesn't cause me any trouble." Augustus he thought of Tychus. This man was simply not cut out for revolution, nor did he want to bother commanding an army.

Perhaps all Tychus wants to do is eat, drink, and have fun; only partying with his enemies can ignite his meager passion.

"Londerstein officially assumed command of the 1st Division of the Sterling Revolutionary Army; Rick arrived at the 2nd Division headquarters today; Harnack gained command of the Provisional Firebat 1st Regiment by beating up all those who disagreed with him; Zander's 3rd Division is assembling on East Greenland, the largest island on the west coast Connor is overseeing the construction progress of the land-based missile base southeast of Sterling," Lisa reported to Augustus.

"The money we got from Meinhoff was used to form the Goliath Mech unit. Of course, right now we only have two training aircraft, which we obtained from the Turaxis gang. Currently, the nominal commander of this unit is Rory Swann."

"Everything is getting on track," Augustus nodded. "They're not officers who graduated from military academy, and some haven't even commanded anyone before, but compared to those who are all talk and no action, Jim and his men have at least seen real war. Given time, they'll be able to stand on their own."

"Is there anything else?" Augustus rubbed his throbbing head. "Oh, right, there's also the matter of reorganizing the political party."

"The new party name is the Pan-Terran National Unity Front, with the ultimate goal of uniting all Terrans, broadly defined by race and including the Tarsonis, into an allied republic. Our current task is to lead the revolution, with the party and its members sharing common ideals and aspirations, to achieve Korhal's independence and overthrow the tyrannical rule of the Confederacy."

"The new party will be led by professional revolutionaries, with a strict organizational structure and discipline, and will establish equally rigorous institutions for qualification review and purging traitors. We will only recruit those with progressive ideas, and will only make these people our core."

"I have already written the new party program and constitution. Contact the print publishing house and have them immediately publish the works of progressive revolutionaries such as Mark, including 'What is Our Task?', 'What is a Friend of the People?', 'A Biography of Angus Mengsk,' 'On Democracy,' and ' Korhal! Korhal!'."

"Okay, I'll contact the propaganda department and the Independent Party's party committee right away." Lisa said and prepared to leave.

"Wait," Augustus called to Lisa as she prepared to leave, "Have them intensify the propaganda offensive."

"The revolutionary April is approaching."
