Only Dead Bugs Are Good Bugs
The specific location is...
"Tang Ming Street, Block 411, Northern District of Ma Sara City. It can be found on any satellite map, Marshal."
"Transmit my orders to General James Raynor, instructing him to immediately lead his troops to the aforementioned location to carry out a rescue mission. Note that the target of the rescue is the Protoss." Augustus relayed his orders accurately using his communicator.
"Yes, Marshal's batch of spaceships is about to launch, and the Chief of the General Staff asked me to inquire about it with you."
"I'm staying on the surface, young man, until everyone is safely evacuated."
As Augustus spoke, he had already approached the defensive fortification wall outside the airport and was climbing the reinforced and widened defensive fortification wall using a pieced-together metal ladder.
Holding a C-10 rifle, the red-haired ghost Kerrigan followed closely behind Augustus, followed by Corporal Faraday, Tychus, and a squad of Marshal Guard soldiers.
"That's fucking amazing. Jimmy Boy will be so surprised, won't he? He'll definitely ask our Marshal if he's kidding me." As the burly Tychus climbed the ladder in his Power Armor, the soldiers behind him felt the ladder was about to collapse.
"I learned a lot from the Tal'darim. Protoss are an extremely arrogant and life-contemptuous race. Like insects, it's useless to talk to Protoss about morality and mercy, because they simply don't have that concept. Their temper is like a rock in a Protoss, smelly and hard." Tychus continued to share his views on the Protoss race with Augustus.
"I agree with you, Tychus. But in other words, this statement applies perfectly to you as well." Augustus climbed the wide defensive wall and looked down at the city of Mar- Sara outside the wall.
The Revolutionary Army's engineering corps constructed this formidable defense in less than four days using modular panels and all the materials they had at Mar-Sa Airport and the Confederacy Engineering Station, but all were only hoping it would hold off the Zerg for as long as possible.
Fully armed Revolutionary Army soldiers stood atop the fortified walls, equipped with electromagnetic cannons, Gauss heavy machine guns, and flamethrowers, while dozens of rotating ground-attack missiles were ready to fire at any moment. As Augustus ascended the fortified walls, the officers and soldiers there immediately saluted Augustus.
After Augustus appeared, the warriors were clearly in high spirits. Presumably, even if they were sent to storm the Zerg's lair, these iron-blooded warriors would not hesitate for a moment.
"I don't see it that way." Tychus's eyes narrowed, and he was about to explode, but he didn't dare to vent his anger on Augustus. Tychus, his face turning purple with suppressed rage, then heard a burst of laughter, and could only shout angrily at the Marshal Guard's guards behind him.
"Don't laugh! Damn it, you idiots are only fit to kiss my ass!"
"What do you have to say about my Marshal Guard? Every single one of them is a hundred times better than you. If they were still in the Army, they would be officers by now." Faraday, standing behind Tychus, had his face covered in the other man's spittle.
Faraday immediately retorted angrily, "And who do you think you are? If it weren't for Marshal Augustus's high regard for you, you'd be nothing more than a robber or a bandit by now."
Tychus immediately stood still, his face contorted with rage, veins bulging on his cheeks, looking ready for a fight.
But Tychus wasn't a fool; all his bluffing was to achieve his own ends. Tychus knew that the marshal's personal guards were deeply trusted by him, and offending them was no good—he feared nothing more than whispering in their ear.
"Now is not the time for a fight. Next time, I will definitely have a proper contest with you." Tychus said this politely before slinking off after Augustus.
"The Protoss have indeed helped us a lot, Tychus." Augustus ignored the furious Tychus, knowing that the latter would calm down just as quickly as he did when he was angry.
"There are eyewitness reports from Protoss ground forces all over the place, and at least tens of thousands of people have been saved because of their operations against the Zerg. Moreover, if the Protoss don't care about our lives, they can use their planet-destroying weapons to destroy the entire Mar Sara." Augustus look at Tychus, but stared into the deep darkness outside the fortification walls.
"This proves that the Protoss hope—or rather, they are trying to—that humanity survives. As for those planets, cities, and people that the Protoss deems infected and beyond saving, they will not hesitate to burn them along with the Zerg."
The area in front of Augustus was once a central park surrounded by greenery. In the arid and barren city of Mar- Sara, this central park was an extremely rare and beautiful sight, as it had a dozen Fountain and dense woods at its center. The people of Mar- Sara once described it as the worst vanity project of the end of the century, but now this beautiful park is covered with a thick, purplish-black Creep.
The park, once filled with cars belonging to dignitaries and their families, had now been transformed into twisted alloy steel frames encased in tumors and viscous fluid. The ground was littered with shards of broken glass and paving stones, and countless Zerg were gathering in the darkness, their red eyes gleaming in the shadows.
The Swarm is coming from the south of the airport. Large numbers of Zerg are rushing north across the central park in front of the defensive walls. The Zerg closest to Augustus's location are only two or three hundred yards from the Revolutionary Army's machine gun muzzles. The soldiers on the wall can even see the glowing red eyes of the Zergling and the colorful crests of the Hydralisk under the searchlights.
The sound of countless claws stomping on the ground mingled with the rustling of the Hydralisk's horny scales scraping against the earth, creating a deafening roar. In Augustus's memory, he had only ever heard such a sound in documentaries on the documentary channel—the sound of millions of wildebeest herds running simultaneously on the African savanna.
What puzzled Augustus was that most of the Zerg ignored the brightly lit airport and headed towards the northern part of the already fallen city.
"That direction... is that the Protoss?" Augustus looked in that direction.
"The Protoss are far more attractive to the Zerg than humans." Kerrigan stopped to Augustus ' right and tapped her goggles on her forehead.
"Find and devour all the Protoss —this is the deepest imprint etched into the Zerg's genes. The Zerg react strongly to our Psionics, perhaps because they mistake human Psionics for Protoss." She carefully sensed the thoughts of all the Zerg within a mile radius and discovered that their simple and singular mind was filled only with the desire to devour Protoss.
"The Taldarim have already made it very clear to us that every Protoss in their race is Psionics, and the Zerg love Psionics the most." Tychus patted his behind and walked over.
"Every Protoss is a hateful telepath; all Protoss can read minds. A single Level 5 Psionics can make the Zerg rush over from over ten light-years away just by smelling them. If so many Protoss were gathered together, the Zerg would surely go insane."
"We still know very little about these two races," Kerrigan shook her head.
"Why did the Jormungand Brood —or rather, the Zerg— invade the Sara System? What is the historical connection between the Protoss and the Zerg?" she said. "It's obvious; the Protoss and the Zerg knew of each other's existence long before we did."
"Humans wage war for many reasons, such as cultural clashes and the pursuit of territory and resources. But the Zerg and Protoss —we can't understand their thoughts, just as we can't understand what humans are thinking."
"We'll figure it out; we just lack one deep conversation with the aliens," Augustus.
"Perhaps we can reason with the Protoss, but what about the Zerg?" Kerrigan said.
"To deal with the Zerg, all we can do is unite with the Protoss to crush them." Augustus said, activating a Holographic Projection device he carried with him. "Of course, what I hope for most is to be able to directly or indirectly control a Zerg hive force."
This Holographic Projection device only has the function of projection; its sole and primary purpose is to project a small Holographic Projection map of the city of Sara in front of Augustus.
On this Holographic Projection map, the Zerg are represented by red triangles, while the Protoss are represented by ice-blue squares. At this moment, a large number of red triangles are converging towards the north of the city, resembling steam and heat escaping from the pressure relief valve of a battlecruiser against the fluorescent green background.
The ice-blue square representing the Protoss is being devoured by the Zerg at an alarming rate, while the dark green icon of the human rescue force is like a sharp knife tearing a gash through the Zerg.
"Well done, Jimmy," Augustus said, looking at the screen.
As they were talking, the roar of a transport ship taking off and the cheers of the crowd came from behind Augustus and his group, as more people fled this de facto hell on earth.
In the distance, the Swarm responded with roars, their sharp chirping and flapping wings growing ever closer, as if millions of giant locusts were flapping their wings simultaneously.
"Insects aren't blind, after all," Tychus said slowly in his deep, magnetic voice. "They're coming."
As Tychus said, the sudden appearance of a large number of Zerg flying creatures in the sky sounded an alarm for people.
The enormous Overlord resembled a hot air balloon suspended high in the sky. Although it appeared to humans on the ground as nothing more than a black dot overhead, this bizarre creature, a hybrid of crab claws, jellyfish body, and carapace, was far larger than Zergling or Hydralisk on the ground.
Thousands of Overlord floated high in the air, like balloons hovering between the skyscrapers of the central city of Ma Sara.
Each Overlord was surrounded by dozens or even more Mutalisk. These flying Swarm, incorporated into the swarm's gene pool, possessed terrifying sharp teeth and claws, as well as a pair of broad, membranous wings. Their serpentine bodies occupied most of their bodies, resembling biological cannons that constantly spewed acid.
Each of the Mutalisk possesses numerous pairs of orange-red eyes, resembling red dots in the air that symbolize danger.
Surrounding the Overlord and the Mutalisk were a large number of creatures resembling flying crabs and large bats. The latter, in particular, were flesh-colored bats with large wings that were clearly not afraid of human firepower.
Upon seeing human fighter jets or spaceships, they would charge headlong into them. Even disregarding the terrifying explosions produced by their internal chemical catalysis, the mere fact that they collided head-on with a high-speed fighter jet or starship at their flight speed would be a horrific disaster.
On the ground, the number of Hydralisk in the Jormungand Brood even exceeded the number of Zergling. On the surface, about seven or eight giant Hydralisk with blood-red carapaces and huge crests were leading their swarm.
"The bugs are coming!" the soldier on the watchtower shouted, and everyone rushed to their posts.
"I need to kill a few tons of bugs to perk myself up." Tychus's nasty nature is evident in every aspect of his life, but he is undoubtedly a pest control enthusiast. "I've killed a lot of bugs, what's a few more?"
"Only dead insects are good insects."
Tychus walked up to the machine gun turret, politely asked the main gunner to get down, and then pulled up the crane gun and began firing happily.
This man may be a wicked villain, but when it comes to doing bad things or fighting, the great villain Tychus never hesitates.
"The enemy deserves nothing but to lick our asses!" Tychus roared, cursing as spent cartridges flew through the orange flash of his gun.
"Fire freely! Don't conserve ammunition!" When the commander on the fortified wall gave the order, everyone on the defensive wall opened fire simultaneously.
The front-line Zergling and Hydralisk immediately fell under the Revolutionary Army's concentrated firepower, and blood, shattered carapaces, and hisses instantly resounded throughout the night sky.
Before the battle, each soldier received a modified Umojan booster injection, which provided enough adrenaline to sustain them for over six hours.
One Zerg after another fell before the humans' Gauss Rifle; the 8mm caliber Piercer Spike Bullet could easily tear through human skin and body armor. However, the soldiers had to waste many bullets to penetrate the Zerg's hard chitinous carapace, and now, to deal with the Ultralisk, they had to use specially made depleted uranium armor-piercing rounds to see any initial success.
Augustus stood shoulder to shoulder with the other soldiers, gripping his Gauss Rifle, taking small shots at the Zerg approaching the defensive wall. At first, Augustus had the strength to aim, but later the number of Zerg had increased to the point that he could easily sweep them away without aiming.
It must be said that the recoil of the rifle and the wailing of the Zerg, with their shells flying everywhere, is indeed something that can easily cause an adrenaline rush.
Vast swarms of Zerg flying creatures swept past the fortified walls, spewing highly corrosive green acid at the human soldiers below. Even a tiny bit of the acid would melt the plates of their Power Armor. Many were completely dissolved in the acid spewed by the flying crabs of the Mutalisk swarm; they only had time to let out a few screams before writhing and collapsing, like pieces of paper dissolved in strong acid or thin paper figures curled up in flames.
Only a black residue remained.
The Revolutionary Army's anti-aircraft fire shot down many Zerg flying creatures, but they still numbered in large numbers.
Swarms of Zergling and Hydralisk fell before the fortification walls, until blood covered the ground, and fragments of entrails and carapaces were scattered everywhere.
Then, without any warning, the Zerg briefly retreated.
But soon, a non-human roar came from the darkness, a mournful cry from the parched vocal cords of humans.
One after another, the Infested Terran, staggering along, and one after another, the alien monsters who were once human began to approach the base from all directions. Some of the Infested Terran were even wearing tattered Power Armor, holding Gauss Rifle, and shouting that they were fighting for the ideals of the Confederacy or the Revolution.
Now, these humans, who have turned their allegiance to the Swarm, stagger toward their former brethren, baring their fangs and claws, their gaping mouths teeming with tentacles and saliva.
"Hold on, my warriors!" Augustus shouted.
"Neither the Confederacy, the Protoss, nor the Zerg can defeat us!"
