Buyer

The Orlan Town is located seventeen miles north of Fort Howe, where thousands of vertical Gothic houses are built on the snow-capped New Hercules Mountain, which sits at an altitude of 10,000 feet.

This is the most famous skiing and resort destination in this hemisphere. The numerous hot springs formed by geological movements have created world-renowned hot spring hotels and holiday resorts in Orlan Town.

Before the outbreak of war, Orlan Town was a favorite resort for Turaxis II's social elites and dignitaries. The influx of wealthy people into this town, which had only been around for a little over twenty years, brought unprecedented prosperity. Commercial streets selling luxury goods and souvenirs were built around the ski resort, and the rich spent money to buy castle-like mansions here.

Of course, this all happened three years ago.

When Augustus and the 1st Squad of the Heaven's Devils arrived in this town, its former prosperity was long gone, and the streets were desolate. The dejected residents watched them warily, and there were more drunkards and sex workers than they had encountered in any other city or town before.

"Haven't you figured out what the buyer actually does?"

In the biting cold wind, Augustus leaned against the locked window of a ski equipment shop, his hands in his pockets, looking at the red brick street, where four or five Heaven's Devils stood in different postures.

Lisa Cassidy, wearing the same brown parka as Augustus, stood to his right. Her long ginger-yellow hair was tied into a long ponytail with a blue ribbon, which was gathered over her right shoulder and draped over her chest.

Most of these soldiers were tall and burly, their bodies honed through daily training and combat. Connor Ward, with his tanned dark skin, and Tychus Finley, with his perpetually menacing expression, looked like two upright, powerful bears. The tall, thin Harnack and Josephine had skull tattoos on their hoods that were faintly visible beneath the stand-up collars of their long coats, enough to scare away anyone with ill intentions.

"The buyer is a friend of a friend. He's supposedly a nouveau riche who made his fortune in the war and desperately needs some luxury goods and decent weaponry to expand his influence. But you know, you can't believe everything you hear."

"Smugglers, human traffickers, drug cartels, space pirates, and Scavengers who make a living by collecting interstellar junk. They could be any kind of person," Tychus said. "It's best not to get too involved with these people; digging too deep will make them wary. We don't know who they are, and they don't know we're the Marines, which is good for both of us."

Even if you get close enough to them, be careful that they don't just sell you out.

"Hmm, that makes me think. Should I trust you completely? Or will you just sell me off? Tychus." Augustus nodded, a strange meaning flickering in his cold gray eyes.

"My God, you won't find anyone more trustworthy than old Tychus. Back in my hometown, everyone says the Finley son is honest, trustworthy, and loved by all." Tychus put his arm around Augustus's shoulder.

"The version I heard is that you were willing to sell your mother just to drink," Augustus.

"Which son of a bitch said that?" Tychus's eyebrows furrowed, feeling genuine anger. "I truly love her, no one loves her more than me. But I had to leave that boring little town, where people buzz around like flies. In the summer, I could only sit in my dad's coffee shop, the customers always surrounding me, laughing like idiots."

"I've had enough of that kind of life, which is why I'm here, choosing to become a loyal soldier."

"How is your mother doing?" Augustus asked. Tychus rambled on and on, refusing to swear allegiance to him, but Augustus didn't really care.

"I often dream about her," Tychus replied.

At that moment, at a street corner, in a narrow alley between luxury shops and food stores, a man wearing a high-brimmed flat-topped hat and a low-class miner's uniform emerged.

He looked around, then pulled down his hat and walked toward Augustus and the others, followed closely by a man with a large, round belly and several burly bodyguards, one of whom was carrying two briefcases.

"What a beautiful sunny day, sir. It is at this time of year that I think of my wife who died in childbirth." The heavily pregnant man ran quickly to Augustus, stopped, and wiped his bald head with his silk handkerchief.

Do you have a wife?

"I have not seen my bride," Augustus. "We have brought the goods."

"Where are they? If Mr. Smith is correct, then we can get fifty Electromagnetic Rifle, two hundred KMC-12 automatic rifles, and a set of CMC Power Armor." The pot-bellied man stopped sweating profusely, his expression unusually calm, and a shrewd glint shone in his eyes, which were as thin as eyebrows.

"Are you Mr. Saint Nicholas Caesar Augustus?"

"That's right," Augustus replied without changing his expression. "Follow us. Don't ask questions, keep your eyes forward."

Seeing the other party nod, Augustus waved and left with the Heaven's Devils, while the buyer's men followed closely behind.

"11:346, this is Rick. No one is following you." The voice of Rick Kydd, the sniper from Heaven's Devils, came through a miniature earpiece made by Umojan, hidden in Augustus's ear.

I will report back in five minutes.

Last night, Augustus dismissed the commander of the resocialized platoon and, with his Heaven's Devils, inventoried the gang's supplies, finding over three hundred.50 caliber automatic rifles, dozens of boxes of copper bullets and Electromagnetic Grenade, as well as nearly one hundred old-fashioned Electromagnetic Rifle.

There were also fourteen Power Armor, two Goliath, and five assault Armored Vehicle. The gold and silver jewelry piled up in the warehouse made Raynor and Londerstein counting it.

Who knows how a gang leader could be so rich? Augustus was starting to wonder if there really was a huge organization called the Freedom Revolutionary Army.

Augustus gave some of the inferior equipment to Warfield, and the food was sent to the Fort Wait Refugee Camp in the name of the Heaven's Devils. The rest remained sealed in their original locations. Augustus originally wanted to keep all the equipment, but after a night of thought, he decided to sell a batch to test the waters first.

Korhal IV's independence is a foregone conclusion. As a member of the Mengsk Family, even if he wanted to escape, the agents of the Terran Confederacy would hunt him down to the ends of the earth. Augustus will inevitably be drawn into his father's revolutionary cause, bound to the war machine of Korhal IV. He will either be reborn with Korhal or perish together.

Since his Arcturus was determined to realize his life's dream in the mines, Augustus had no choice but to shoulder the burden of saving the Mengsk Family and Korhal.
