First Test of Chidori!

The sun had already set, and the pale red afterglow draped a thin crimson carpet over the ground.

"You're going to the Land of Waterfalls?"

In the silent training ground, after hearing Sasuke recount the mission, Shisui, who was leaning against a tree, frowned and asked.

"Have you been to the Land of Waterfalls, Shisui?"

Blinking, Sasuke countered with a question.

"No, but I've heard intelligence officers mention that the Land of Waterfalls has many waterfalls. They rely on these massive cascades to deter invasions from other nations, and one of the largest waterfalls even conceals the Waterfall Hidden Village, which houses some excellent ninja."

Shaking his head, Shisui explained further.

"What a mysterious country. I'll have to see it for myself while on this mission."

Hearing this, Sasuke chuckled lightly.

"Although the mission will take a few days to complete, going out for field experience will be a great help to you. I think you should skip training today and go back early to prepare."

After a brief silence, Shisui suddenly said to Sasuke.

"Skipping training is fine, but before I leave the village, let's spar one more time!"

His lips curling, Sasuke scratched his head, a flicker of subtle playfulness flashing through his dark eyes.

Sasuke loved battling experts like Itachi, Shisui, and Kakashi; he could gain so much during the process of combat. These insights were things that could never be acquired through theory alone.

"Alright then!"

Looking at Sasuke, who was staring at him with a half-smile, Shisui could only shrug helplessly.

"It's too narrow here; let's head over there."

Giving Shisui a faint smile, Sasuke walked toward the center of the training ground.

Shisui nodded and followed quickly.

"Let's begin!"

Seeing Shisui draw a kunai, Sasuke pulled out his own and let out a sharp shout.

The moment Sasuke's voice fell, both he and Shisui moved almost simultaneously, their feet stomping against the ground as they shot forward.

"Clang!"

Sasuke and Shisui clashed with their kunai, and immediately, a series of metallic rings and sparks erupted.

In just a few breaths, Shisui had swung his kunai nearly thirty or forty times in a frenzy, yet these thunderous attacks were all blocked by Sasuke!

After a fierce exchange, both Shisui and Sasuke retreated a few steps.

"Sasuke, you've improved a lot!"

Looking at the sweat-drenched Sasuke, Shisui couldn't help but exclaim.

Shisui's superior movement and attack speed usually left his opponents completely on the back foot, yet Sasuke had actually kept up with him.

"As expected of Shisui, that speed is truly terrifying..."

At this moment, Sasuke, whose arm was numb, muttered to himself. If he hadn't gritted his teeth and held on, he likely would have suffered a crushing defeat in that exchange.

"To beat Shisui, I can't hold anything back!"

Thinking calmly for a moment, he tossed his kunai toward Shisui and quickly wove a series of hand seals. A moment later, he tilted his head back, puffed out his cheeks, and suddenly opened his mouth, spitting out a continuous stream of fireballs.

"Phoenix Sage Fire Technique?"

After batting away the incoming kunai, Shisui saw the trajectory of the fireballs Sasuke spat out resembled the seeds of a balsam flower and immediately realized he was using the Phoenix Sage Fire Technique.

This was a basic jutsu commonly used by the Uchiha clan; Shisui knew it well and understood it thoroughly.

"An attack of this level certainly won't hurt me!"

Seeing the fireballs about to strike, Shisui smiled confidently and instantly vanished from his spot, reappearing in mid-air.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

The title of Body Flicker Shisui was not earned in vain; Sasuke's fireballs failed to match his speed and ended up smashing harmlessly into the ground.

"Shisui, don't forget, I know the Body Flicker Technique too!"

Lifting his face to look at Shisui in the air, Sasuke gave a brilliant smile. With a light shout, he stomped hard on the ground, and in an instant, his body shot toward Shisui, his fist raised to strike.

A flash of surprise crossed Shisui's eyes, but perhaps Sasuke's movement was too fast, as he didn't have time to react.

As Sasuke's fist landed, the force surged into Shisui's body, but an unexpected scene unfolded: the Shisui he had struck turned into a log.

"Substitution Technique?"

Muttering to himself, Sasuke, still in the air, knew this attack had failed as well.

"Hehe... Sasuke, didn't I teach you? A ninja must never be careless during battle!"

On the ground, the real Shisui reappeared and chuckled softly.

"Shisui, I've always remembered that!"

Sasuke, still in the air, smiled back at him.

After Sasuke's laughter faded, the Sasuke in the air suddenly turned into a puff of white smoke and vanished.

"Shadow Clone Technique? This is bad..."

Shisui's expression changed abruptly, a look of gravity quickly flashing through his pupils.

"Chidori!"

Just as Shisui sensed something was wrong, a brilliant flash of lightning suddenly erupted from behind a nearby tree, and Sasuke charged out.

Could this be Senior Kakashi's Lightning Blade?

Watching the lightning, which looked like thousands of thin rays of light, coiling around Sasuke's right hand, Shisui could hardly believe his eyes.

One had to know that just two months ago, Sasuke was still training in chakra nature transformation; he never expected that in such a short time, Sasuke would have mastered such a powerful S-rank Lightning Release ninjutsu.

Now, Sasuke wanted to defeat Shisui with Chidori, but Shisui had no intention of admitting defeat just yet.

Closing his eyes and opening them again, Shisui's eyes underwent a massive change; his originally black pupils had turned blood-red, and three evenly spaced tomoe appeared within them.

Clearly, Shisui had activated his Sharingan.

As the Sharingan began to spin, Shisui immediately saw through Sasuke's attack trajectory, and with a Body Flicker Technique, he bypassed Sasuke.

Shisui flickered abruptly, and a sharp kunai came to rest against Sasuke's back.

"Sasuke, you've lost..."

Pointing the kunai at Sasuke, Shisui said softly with a smile.

"Sigh! It seems I need to be more careful next time!"

Controlling the lightning on his hand to dissipate, Sasuke couldn't help but sigh.

After Shisui activated his Sharingan, Sasuke knew he was going to lose, because Kakashi had previously mentioned the weakness of the Chidori: once an opponent sees through the attack path, it becomes impossible to track their counterattack.

Of course, Sasuke did not complain about Shisui using the Sharingan; in Sasuke's view, if Shisui had intentionally let him win, he would have been unhappy instead.

Since it was a spar, they should use their full strength to fight; that was the true way to respect an opponent.
