Although it fell short of Nawaki's highest expectations, Konoha's new aircraft had proven remarkably effective. Sunagakure's fighters suffered heavily in their very first exchange, with several hundred shot down.

After coming under attack, the remaining Sunagakure aircraft immediately launched a counterattack against Konoha's air force. In their view, mechanical hidden weapons could do nothing to fortress strongholds, but they were perfect for dealing with Konoha's "defenseless" air force.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh..." Pitch-black hidden weapons shot toward Konoha's air force, streaking through the sky like trails of light.

Most of the hidden-weapon attacks were nimbly evaded by Konoha's aircraft. The few that struck their targets were blocked by a thin, transparent barrier. None of Konoha's aircraft suffered any damage, and they launched a second assault against the enemy, shooting down large numbers of Sunagakure aircraft once more.

Lasers and missiles against primitive mechanical hidden weapons; wooden shells against defensive barriers—Sunagakure's much-anticipated Flying Eagle I was comprehensively crushed by Konoha's aircraft in every aspect of performance.

The two sides fought fiercely in the air, trading blows back and forth. Though Sunagakure's air force fought tenaciously, it could not alter the outcome of defeat.

More and more Sunagakure aircraft fell toward the ground, while Konoha's air force remained completely unscathed. Some Anbu proficient in the Six Powers even destroyed the enemy puppets outright in close combat.

The pride in the hearts of Sunagakure's puppet masters was shattered. Ancient traditional craftsmanship had been crushed on the battlefield by newly born science and technology.

"Retreat! Retreat!"

Seeing that the situation was hopeless, the commander of Sunagakure's air force finally gave the order to withdraw, leading the few hundred surviving aircraft back.
