At the sight of Young Naruto's smug smile, Thanatos furiously shoved him away and swept his death god's scythe upward. "Why can't you just die quietly, you annoying pest?"
A Blade Arc shot from the scythe toward Young Naruto. Startled, he hastily dodged it. It skimmed past his face and carved a deep gash into the ground. Seeing his attack miss, Thanatos was about to unleash another, but Young Naruto refused to let him have his way. He quickly blocked Thanatos's scythe and engaged him in close combat.
Using the Flying Thunder God Marks on his six Truth-Seeking Orbs, Young Naruto positioned the orbs around Thanatos and repeatedly used Flying Thunder God to evade his attacks. He relied on his speed to keep Thanatos locked in close combat. Whenever Thanatos tried to break out of the encirclement, Young Naruto attacked from every angle, preventing him from putting any meaningful distance between them.
Thanatos felt utterly stifled. His opponent was far weaker than he was, yet had still managed to tie him down. And because Young Naruto was fighting with taijutsu, the chakra he had spent was slowly recovering with the Nine-Tails' help, ruining Thanatos's carefully laid plans.
Young Naruto kept attacking Thanatos and even gained the upper hand for a time. The Nine-Tails smiled and said, "That's right, Naruto. Keep this up, and I can replenish the chakra you've used and keep you in peak condition. Once the others get out, we can join forces and kill him immediately."
Furious, Thanatos kept trying to break through Young Naruto's encirclement and gain some distance. But every time he stopped attacking and tried to retreat, the insect who had done nothing but dodge would strike at him. And whenever he retaliated, that crafty pest would use his space-time technique to evade him.
