Background / History

Sasuke is the younger son of Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha and the younger brother of Itachi Uchiha. He greatly admires Itachi, eagerly seeks his instruction in shurikenjutsu, and resents the repeated postponement of their training time together 5 21.

He first meets Naruto when Naruto delivers food to the Uchiha household. Sasuke initially considers Naruto rude and foolish because of his concealed clothing, but their argument develops into a competitive training partnership. Fugaku and Mikoto invite Naruto to regard the Uchiha household as family, and Sasuke accepts Naruto as a brother-like presence 4 5.

Sasuke's rivalry with Naruto accelerates his growth. He trains with Naruto in shurikenjutsu, taijutsu, chakra control, and natural-energy body tempering; the pressure of trying to surpass Naruto contributes to his early Sharingan awakening 6 8 28.
