As Sasuke's Qilin descended, the Lightning Mages hidden nearby unleashed the lightning magic they had prepared in advance: the Lightning Strike Technique. Hundreds of Lightning Mages cast it at once, and lightning rained down as though the heavens had erupted in fury, delivering divine punishment to annihilate the world.
The sixth- and seventh-rank demon beasts were suddenly struck by lightning. Although it could not do much to them, the paralysis it carried caused them to fall behind. Seeing them stunned, Sasuke seized the opportunity, swiftly formed hand seals, and unleashed another Chidori Stream.
The demon beasts roared in frustration at the sudden paralysis. They also spotted the mages who had ambushed them and glared furiously at them. Had their bodies not been paralyzed and unable to move, they would already have charged over and torn those mages to shreds.
Seeing that the demon beasts were temporarily immobilized, Naruto immediately ordered, "All Lightning Mages, aim at the water! Hit the surface with your Lightning Strike Techniques!"
Although the mages did not understand the point of doing this, Naruto was their commander, so all they had to do was obey. Another wave of Lightning Strike Techniques descended, but this time they struck the water beneath the demon beasts' feet rather than the beasts themselves.
Though the lightning did not strike them directly, the demon beasts were all standing in water. The water conducted the electricity, paralyzing them once more and keeping them from moving. Naruto then gave another order. "All Fire Mages, get ready! Launch your Fireball Techniques!"
The Fireball Technique was only first-rank magic. Every member of these mage corps could cast it instantly.
