Ji entered a palace. Everything was utterly silent, without a single guard in sight. She walked straight into the great hall, looked at the Throne above, and knelt. "My lord, Ji has something to report."
"Rise." The voice of Kuilian, the Lord of Annihilation, rang out.
Ji raised her head. Kuilian, the Lord of Annihilation, was now lounging on the previously empty Throne.
"Thank you, my lord," Ji said respectfully. Only after bowing again in thanks did she stand.
Kuilian smiled at Ji. "How did it go? How strong is that Child of the Heavenly Dao?"
Ji answered respectfully, "My lord, the Child of the Heavenly Dao has reached the peak of the Chief God realm, infinitely close to becoming a Half-Step Supreme God. He is far stronger than an ordinary Supreme God. If my power were not the power of annihilation, I might not have been a match for him."
"Oh..." Kuilian's expression shifted. A trace of surprise appeared in her eyes, yet there was also a contradictory look that suggested she had expected as much. Her expression was exceedingly complex.
After a moment of silence, Kuilian smiled faintly again. "All right, I understand. I never imagined the Child of the Heavenly Dao would be so powerful. It surprises me, yet somehow it also feels perfectly natural. How irritating."
Ji asked in puzzlement, "My lord, there is something I wish to ask, but I do not know whether I should."
Kuilian smiled. "Hehe... Go ahead."
Ji asked, "My lord, since you are so concerned about the Child of the Heavenly Dao, why not eliminate this problem now, while he is still weak?"
Kuilian smiled. "It is not that I do not want to. I simply cannot. This is an enormous gamble. Not only am I forbidden from acting, but
