Naruto prepared his friends for a two-year journey to another world, strengthened his allies, and pursued peace while confronting threats across the shinobi world. As the group gathered at the Dragon Vein, Minato and his companions fought the Demon Race, and Obito and Rin drew closer to meeting them.

• Naruto gathered his friends for training in another world, chose Shizuka, Haku, and Yakumo as companions, and helped free Sai from Root while restoring the Third Hokage’s youth.
• Naruto led his companions to the Dragon Vein, where Jiraiya agreed to train them, and Sasuke accepted an orb that would take him to another world for two years.
• Obito fought Rin while her trident’s weapon spirit tried to control her, but Rin reclaimed herself and confessed her love to him.
• Naruto faced his dark self at the Lake of Truth, learned to use Kurama as the basis for combining his abilities, and gained chakra from the Eight-Tails.
• Naruto and Killer B defeated Hidan and Kakuzu after rescuing Yugito, and Naruto took Hidan to Tsunade for medical research.
• Karin and Hanabi followed Naruto to the cemetery, where they heard him mourn Anko and explain that he planned to leave for two years to grow stronger.
• Itachi received Naruto’s orb, scroll, and Spatial Ring, while Obito and Rin set out to find Minato and Kushina and Obito confessed that he had caused their deaths.
• Minato broke the Demon Race guards’ formation, killed Baker Charlotte, and sealed Baker and the guards in a scroll as Kakashi and Nawaki pursued the retreating soldiers toward a base where Obito and Rin waited.

Naruto and the others gathered at the Dragon Vein, where its eruption sent them through Spatial Gates to the Azure Continent. Naruto became entangled in Duanti Tian’s family troubles while Sasuke joined Wisdom Academy, and both began pursuing new power.

• Obito, Kakashi, Rin, Minato, and Nawaki defeated the Demon Race force, then negotiated its surrender on the condition that it return home and never invade again.
• Naruto befriended Fū and Utakata, helped them reconcile with their tailed beasts, and set out to find the remaining jinchuriki.
• Jiraiya’s mission to confront Akatsuki ended with Nagato, Yahiko, and Konan leaving him gravely wounded, and Itachi rescued him and brought him back to Konoha.
• The Five Kage gathered at the Dragon Vein, and its eruption pulled Naruto and the others through Spatial Gates to the Azure Continent.
• Naruto joined Duanti Tian’s party, defeated a Nine-Tailed Beast Fox that had targeted Duanti Lian, and sealed it inside himself.
• Naruto explained that Duanti Tian’s exile and his family’s hostility were a plan to protect him, then learned Li Muyun recognized his origins and wanted the crimson lotus blazing flame.
• Sasuke joined Wisdom Academy after meeting Vilis, while Naruto and Duanti Tian prepared to visit the palace and Sasuke headed to an auction after a confrontation over Vilis.

Naruto and Sasuke reached Wisdom Academy, proved their strength in the dean’s secret tests, and reunited with Sakura. Elsewhere, Minato inherited the Origin Land’s power and brought Obito back to his family and village.

• Sasuke staged Sain’s death while Naruto concealed the evidence, and the two friends made their way toward Wisdom Academy by separate routes.
• Naruto and Sasuke reunited, shared their plans to connect the two worlds, and traveled with Vilis toward the academy as their companions faced trials across the realms.
• Minato inherited Rule’s power and became administrator of the demiplane, while Itachi and Shizuka survived Chacha’s attack and Heaven Slayer led a group toward the Ōtsutsuki Clan’s seal.
• Naruto and Sasuke left their divine swords with Kaijin for repairs, then defeated the dean’s attacks and learned he had been testing them.
• Obito returned to Konoha with Kakashi and Rin, confessed to Minato and Kushina, and received their forgiveness as Minato prepared an expedition to the Origin Land.
• Minato recruited Kakashi, Obito, Guy, and elite Uchiha and Hyuga for the expedition, while Vilis told Carlo that Naruto and Sasuke were candidates worth recruiting.

The arc left Naruto and Sasuke searching for the Gnomes' Sacred Land after reuniting with Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji.

• Minato and Kushina welcomed their daughter Uzumaki Qingxi, while Minato and Tsunade challenged Danzo and the Third Hokage over plans to experiment on the remaining demons.
• Thanatos revealed himself through Madara Uchiha's body, directed Black Zetsu to continue the resurrection plan, and entered the Netherworld's forbidden zone.
