Earth Release

Rock Ninja are strongly associated with Earth Release, which gives them a major advantage whenever they can use the ground as a medium. This allows them to conserve chakra otherwise spent creating material and to project attacks over long distances. 261

History

During the Great Ninja War, Rock Ninja fought Konoha in formal engagements between the ninja armies of the Five Great Nations. Their forces formed part of the opening waves, while their Konoha counterparts were instructed to monitor the ground and maintain distance against Earth Release users. 16

Rock Ninja employed ambushes throughout the conflict. Qi disrupted one such ambush with Ice Release, killing eight enemies; later, after becoming separated from his team, he confronted a Rock Ninja Chunin whose greed for Qi's bloodline limit led him to underestimate his opponent. 17 18

Iwagakure also deployed elite personnel alongside Cloud Ninja during an operation involving Minato's group. Three Rock Ninja attempted to escape after Minato intervened, but ultimately retreated while vowing revenge. 37

The Rock Ninja army later invaded Kusagakure, devastating the village and nearly wiping out the Grass Ninja before Konoha reinforcements drove back its vanguard. 93
