Organization

History

Kumogakure was among the forces active during the Third Shinobi World War. Its ninja were recognized for having the highest offensive power among the Five Great Villages, relying on lightning-enhanced mobility and weapon strikes. 34

During a later confrontation involving Konoha, Iwagakure, and Kumogakure, Cloud Ninja outnumbered Sunagakure’s forces by more than two to one. Their direct fighting style, however, left them vulnerable to Sunagakure’s specialized methods. 36 37

After a brief peace following the Third Shinobi World War, Kumogakure launched a new conflict by invading Yugakure with a 3,000-man elite vanguard. The force rapidly defeated Yugakure’s defenders and challenged Konoha to battle. 234 The ensuing clash demonstrated both the Cloud Ninja’s strengths and their costs: although their formations were less disciplined than Konoha’s, their fierce spirit and suicidal high-speed assaults inflicted severe losses. All 3,000 vanguard shinobi were killed, alongside more than 2,000 Konoha ninja. 239

Kumogakure also pursued southern expansion against the Land of Frost, occupying territory over successive wars and maintaining border forces capable of further conquest. 242 During the conflict around the Land of Frost, A led elite troops in pursuit of Kagetsu Qi and the Huiyue Clan, prioritizing their bloodline techniques over the recovery of civilian captives. 253
