Background / History

Qi was born into the Yuki Clan and trained under Yuki Zi. When the clan faced extermination by the Daimyo, its elder entrusted him with Yuki secret techniques and Water Release before sending him to the Kaguya Clan, hoping to preserve the clan's future 2.

At the Kaguya Clan, Qi accepted the name Kaguya Qi and began conditioning under Kaguya Ogata. The clan considered his body too weak for its combat arts, and Ogata subjected him to harsh, repetitive taijutsu training that later gave him unusually solid fundamentals 3 370.

After escaping the Land of Water and entering the Land of Fire, he joined Konoha. Orochimaru tested Qi's resolve, accepted him as a disciple, and brought him to the battlefield to develop through real combat rather than sheltered training 12 13. During the war, Qi formed lasting bonds with Uchiha Xiu, Hyuga Tong, Kakashi, and Obito, while establishing Ice Release as his defining combat ability 14 20.

Qi later learned that Konoha's bloodline users faced political danger. Though the Uchiha offered him protection, he refused to abandon Ogata and chose to defend his master himself 42. His loyalty to both the Yuki and Kaguya legacies eventually drove him to found the Huiyue Clan, intended to unite their surviving arts and become one of Konoha's great clans 184 188.

Following years of growth and conflict, Qi became head of the reorganized Konoha Anbu after purging disloyal Root members 366. He subsequently became the instructor of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno, training them through the same uncompromising methods Ogata had used on him 369 370.

Appearance

Qi wears standard Konoha shinobi clothing beneath a long black robe with sleeves that conceal his hands. He carries two short swords crossed on his back 23.

  • Konoha flak jacket beneath a long black robe 23
  • Two chakra tantō gifted by Uchiha Xiu 20 22
  • His third-order Ice Release causes a physical transformation accompanied by pain 161

Personality

Qi is pragmatic, survival-driven, and intensely devoted to becoming stronger. Having already died once before arriving in the ninja world, he refuses to waste time or rely solely on foreknowledge; he trains relentlessly because he considers strength the only reliable protection 7 50.

He is fiercely loyal to his masters and companions. Although suspicious of political factions and bloodline clans, he refused the Uchiha Clan's offer of safety when he believed Ogata might be in danger 42. His attachment to the Yuki and Kaguya clans is deeply rooted, and insults toward either can provoke overwhelming anger 160.

Qi can be ruthless in combat and increasingly treats killing as routine, particularly after leaving the Land of Water 296. He nevertheless shows concern for allies and civilians, including Konoha shinobi endangered by the Time skeletal incarnation's Yin Release 361.

  • Enables high-speed, hand-signless combat that unsettles even Cloud Anbu specialists 286
  • Was passed down to the Huiyue Clan as its foundational combat art 370

Sensory and Assassination Skills

Qi developed stealth, sensory, and battlefield-survival skills through his years in the Land of Water and Konoha's wars.

  • Detects residual chakra through moisture in the air 5
  • Can evade Genin-level search parties and identify hidden sentries in mist-heavy terrain 5 26
