Background / History

During the Nine-Tails' attack on Konoha, Minato confronted the beast from the rooftops and used the Flying Thunder God Technique to teleport its Tailed Beast Bomb to a remote mountain range, preventing it from destroying the village. Before he could seal the Nine-Tails, he was ambushed by a masked Sharingan user later identified as Obito Uchiha. Minato escaped the opponent's space-time technique, exploited the instant Obito had to materialize, and struck him with a Rasengan. 1 47

After returning to the sealing site, Minato found Kushina critically injured and their newborn son Naruto in danger. He accepted Lin Zi's offer to help reseal the rampaging Nine-Tails into Kushina rather than use the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. When Kushina entered a coma after the sealing, Minato asked Lin Zi to find Tsunade, framing it as a father's request. 3 5 6

With Konoha devastated but himself and Kushina alive, Minato began overseeing reconstruction while facing casualty reports, damage assessments, unstable allies, and political pressure from Danzō. Minato later permitted the alternate Orochimaru to live near his home, both to monitor him and to ensure Kushina could receive Ryūchi Cave Senjutsu if needed. After Orochimaru suppressed the Nine-Tails' malice in Kushina, Minato bowed deeply in gratitude. 27 30
