Background

Lin Yuan was an infant when hostile Soul Masters attempted to seize him. His dormant Nine-Nether Ao bloodline responded to the threat by releasing dark light and forming fine black scales over his skin. 3

Bibi Dong adopted and raised him. Over the years, Lin Yuan's care—such as providing medicinal salves after Bibi Dong over-cultivated—helped mend his relationship with Qian Renxue, who came to regard him as her younger brother. 9

At age six, Lin Yuan underwent his Martial Soul Awakening in the Pope's Palace. Qian Xunji secretly attempted to suppress him with Angel Divine Power, but the Nine-Nether Ao awakened, devoured that power, and devastated the palace.
