Background / History

Tang San is a transmigrator who carries the Tang Sect's heritage and intends to restore the sect's glory on the Douluo Continent. He possesses Innate Full Soul Power and initially awakens Blue Silver Grass, a martial soul widely dismissed as useless. He later becomes Yu Xiaogang's disciple after kowtowing to him. 4 5

At Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy, Tang San responds violently to a gatekeeper's humiliation, preparing to fire a Silent Sleeve Arrow at him in public before Yu Xiaogang intervenes. 2

During a Soul Hunting Forest expedition, Tang San fights a Datura Snake to rescue Yu Xiaogang. He finds his teacher swallowed by the snake, cuts off Yu Xiaogang's infected arm to save his life, and initially attempts to absorb the snake's nearly four-hundred-year spirit ring. The absorption fails; he later receives a century-old plant-type ring instead. 11 12 13

Tang San's first major conflict with Lin Nuo ends in public defeat. Blue Silver Entangle is destroyed by Lin Nuo's Death Demon Scythe, and Tang San's Silent Sleeve Arrow is deflected. He is wounded and humiliated after attempting to justify the sneak attack as the “Way of Hidden Weapons.” 16 17 18

Years later, Tang San enters Shrek Academy and continues cultivating alongside Xiao Wu. His lingering rivalry with Lin Nuo intensifies when he learns that Lin Nuo is supported by Spirit Hall; Tang San resolves to avenge his family and sect. 65 156

Tang San later learns that Tang Hao is the Clear Sky Douluo, that Ah Yin was the Blue Silver Emperor, and that his concealed second martial soul is the Clear Sky Hammer. Tang Yuehua and Tang Xiao consequently support him as the Clear Sky Sect's heir. 136 156 162 166

After absorbing an approximately twenty-thousand-year strength-type left arm soul bone from Tang Xiao, Tang San becomes stuck at level 39. His failure to break through and the growing sluggishness of the Mysterious Heaven Skill lead him to question whether his Blue Silver Grass foundation was harmed by his prior cultivation path. 166 177

At the Blue Silver Forest, Tang San establishes contact with the Blue Silver King and learns that part of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline is absent and contaminated. His intended second awakening is interrupted before it can be completed. 181 182

Appearance

Tang San is depicted summoning a darkened Blue Silver Grass from his palm, accompanied by a pale-yellow century spirit ring during his early Soul Master period. 16

  • Blue Silver Grass appears deep purple-black or blackened in its early use. 16
  • Uses a concealed Silent Sleeve Arrow beneath his sleeve. 2
  • Was left facially wounded after his duel with Lin Nuo. 17
  • His second martial soul manifests as a pitch-black Clear Sky Hammer engraved with ancient patterns. 156
  • He later possesses an approximately twenty-thousand-year strength-type left arm soul bone. 166 177

Personality

Tang San is proud, competitive, and highly conscious of his status as a transmigrator and Tang Sect successor. He rejects the idea that he could be inferior to a native genius despite Blue Silver Grass's reputation as a “trash” martial soul. 4

He is fiercely loyal to Yu Xiaogang, risking himself to save his teacher from the Datura Snake and defending his teacher's honor in later conflicts. 11 12 123

His loyalty can turn into hostility and self-righteousness. He readily brands Lin Nuo with a “Way of Seeking Death,” holds a grudge after his humiliation, and attacks first during their confrontation at Nuoding Academy. 15 16 20

Tang San is deeply protective of Xiao Wu. Her abduction by the Titan Giant Ape drives him into a berserk rage, and his wish to protect her contributes to his breakthrough to level 26. 72 83

Repeated defeats, the damage to his Blue Silver Grass origin, and the failure of his spirit skills to meet expectations gradually erode Tang San's confidence in Yu Xiaogang's guidance. He openly calls Yu Xiaogang “Gangzi” during their argument after the Elephant Armor Team match, though he later apologizes to preserve their relationship. 181 187 208 209

Tang San remains determined to pursue immediate strength when Xiao Wu is endangered, even at the risk of wasting the long-term advantages of his Twin Martial Souls. This conviction leads him to insist on cultivating the Clear Sky Hammer ahead of schedule. 206 209 210

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass

Tang San's primary displayed martial soul is Blue Silver Grass. Though initially weak, Yu Xiaogang believes it has substantial future potential and intends to assist its awakening.

  • Damaged foundation — Tang San suspects that his early ring choices damaged the martial soul's origin after his cultivation stagnates and his fourth skill duplicates an earlier one. 177 187

Clear Sky Hammer

  • Reveals the unringed Clear Sky Hammer in public during the battle against the Elephant Armor Team, exposing his Twin Martial Souls to a wider audience. 206
  • Can employ the Nine Absolutes of the Clear Sky with the hammer, though its lack of spirit rings limits its ability to overcome high-grade defenses. 207
  • Intends to add spirit rings to the Clear Sky Hammer at the Soul Ancestor stage rather than wait for a formal Twin Martial Soul cultivation method. 209 210
