Background / History

Tang Hao is a renowned Clear Sky Sect powerhouse and the father of Tang San. He once fought Pope Qian Xunji, leaving the latter fatally injured with a hammer strike; the conflict also left Tang Hao with severe hidden injuries. Following the events involving Tang San's mother, the Hundred-Thousand-Year transformed Blue Silver Emperor, he concealed himself in Holy Soul Village as a blacksmith while raising Tang San. 89 91 93 136

Tang Hao harbors profound guilt over Ah Yin's fate. He admitted that he knowingly brought the already conspicuous transformed soul beast back to the Clear Sky Sect, contributing to the exposure of her identity and the ensuing pursuit by Qian Xunji's forces. 26

After Tang San's defeat by Lin Nuo at Nuoding Academy, Tang Hao privately observed the incident and considered killing Lin Nuo. He restrained himself because attacking a child connected to Bibi Dong and Martial Soul Hall could bring further disaster upon the already weakened Clear Sky Sect. Instead, he decided Lin Nuo would serve as a “whetstone” for Tang San's future growth and entrusted Tang San to Yu Xiaogang before leaving Nuoding City. 22

Tang Hao later returned in panic when the restriction he had placed around Ah Yin's hidden waterfall cave was breached. He discovered that the Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor Right Leg Bone he had reserved for Tang San was missing; Ah Yin's Seed of Life had also been removed from the cave. 26 28 89

Tang Hao later monitored Tang San from the shadows around Shrek Academy and the Heaven Dou Great Soul Arena. He defeated Zhao Wuji and attended the Imperial Fighting Team–Shrek Academy match in secret, where Lin Nuo's martial soul provoked him into renewing his intent to eliminate the boy. 72 127 128

Seeking to secure Tang San's future, Tang Hao infiltrated the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and threatened Ning Fengzhi, Chen Xin, and Gu Rong against targeting either Tang San or Xiao Wu. He regarded Xiao Wu's Hundred-Thousand-Year soul beast identity as an opportunity belonging exclusively to the Tang family. 121 128 129

After attempting to act against Lin Nuo, Tang Hao was ambushed by multiple Title Douluo. He survived attacks from three ninth soul skills but was left critically wounded, his Soul Power having fallen to the level of a Soul Saint. He entrusted Tang San, the Clear Sky Sect's secret techniques, and a relic of Tang San's mother to Yu Xiaogang before departing to recover in seclusion. 136

During the failed attempt on Lin Nuo's life, Tang Hao fought Yue Guan and Dugu Bo, detonated his soul rings, and unleashed the Great Sumeru Hammer. He fled using the recoil of Ring Detonation, but the escape cost him two Clear Sky Sect inheritance soul bones and devastated his foundation. 132 133 134

Later, while disguised as a disabled vagrant, Tang Hao learned that the remaining three Single-Attribute Clans had been exterminated. The news further inflamed his hatred toward Martial Soul Hall and reinforced his belief that his past had brought calamity upon those affiliated with the Clear Sky Sect. 161

Appearance

Tang Hao is a towering, rough-featured man with a stubbled face and calloused hands. He commonly conceals his identity beneath a hood. 22 121

  • His blacksmith life in Holy Soul Village allowed him to hide his identity as the Clear Sky Douluo. 93
  • He is described as moving like a black phantom while concealing his aura. 121
  • During his meeting with Yu Xiaogang after the failed assassination, he is drenched in blood and physically devastated by his injuries. 136
  • Following the destruction of his foundation, he was later seen in disguise as a filthy, disabled man with one arm and a lame leg. 161

Personality

Tang Hao is fiercely protective of Tang San and is willing to intimidate powerful sects, manipulate circumstances around his son, and plan years ahead to secure Tang San's advancement. He views hardships as necessary for Tang San to become a peerless powerhouse, which leads him to tolerate Lin Nuo's early victories rather than immediately retaliate. 22 121 129

His protectiveness is possessive and calculating. Tang Hao considers Xiao Wu's Hundred-Thousand-Year soul beast status a resource for Tang San and intends for her to eventually sacrifice herself willingly so that Tang San may gain her soul ring and soul bone. 74 129 136

His actions are also constrained by guilt and loyalty toward the Clear Sky Sect. Although he is prone to violent impulses, he recognizes that another reckless act could further endanger the sect, whose decline he associates with his past actions. 22 26 136

Tang Hao is deeply attached to Ah Yin and reacts with extreme rage to anyone who interferes with the relics and opportunities he had preserved for Tang San. 26 28
