Background / History

Tang San is the “second-generation” Tang San: a God King reborn after the God Realm was destroyed by a sudden eruption of space-time turbulence while he was suppressing the Golden Dragon King and the God King of Destruction. He retains memories and cultivation knowledge from his previous life, but begins again with the strength of a young Soul Master. His stated objective is to return to the God Realm and take revenge on those he holds responsible for its destruction. 11

Dugu Bo brings Tang San to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to learn how he cured Dugu Yan’s poison. Tang San immediately turns the encounter to his advantage by identifying Dugu Bo’s chronic poisoning symptoms and threatening the old man with both his own death and Dugu Yan’s early demise. 11

At the well, Tang San sees through Ling Xiao’s disguise with the Purple Demon Eye and mistakes Ling Xiao for Tang Hao. He interprets Ling Xiao’s seizure of the immortal herbs and descent into the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well as his father secretly carrying the burden of revenge alone. Rather than expose him, Tang San resolves to cultivate harder and “share” that burden. 15 16

After Ling Xiao takes the well’s herbs and subdues Dugu Bo, Tang San is left behind to face Dugu Bo’s anger. Flender, Liu Erlong, and Yu Xiaogang intervene by revealing Tang Hao’s identity as Tang San’s father; Dugu Bo relents but demands that Tang San restore the damaged valley himself. Tang San treats the labor as another trial arranged by his supposed father. 18 19

Personality

Tang San is calculating, prideful, and highly self-assured in the knowledge carried over from his former life. He internally regards himself as a God King above the people around him, yet he is cautious enough to avoid personally intervening in Ling Xiao and Dugu Bo’s confrontation while his current cultivation remains inadequate. 11 15

Seeking the Soul Bone prize and a foundation for opposing Martial Soul Hall, Tang San provides advanced cultivation methods to Shrek Academy’s members and joins the Soul Fighting Arena’s wager matches. He is wary of Fei Xue despite Shrek’s confidence that she can be easily defeated. 35 43

Battle Against Fei Xue

Matched against Fei Xue—Qian Renxue in disguise—Tang San employs Blue Silver Grass, Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track, the Mysterious Jade Hand, the Dragon Whisker Needle, the Eight Spider Lances, the Purple Demon Eye, and the Clear Sky Hammer. 44 46

His Purple Demon Eye creates an opening for a near-fatal Clear Sky Hammer attack, but Qian Renxue evades. Residual sword qi pierces Tang San’s chest, destroys the Eight Spider Lances, and leaves him severely wounded. His redirected Eight Spider Lances fragment is intercepted by the spiritually responsive Star Sword before it can kill Qian Renxue. 46 47

The arena presents Qian Renxue as achieving ten consecutive victories, while the subsequent account describes the match as a draw resulting from an unknown intervention. Tang San loses consciousness after the battle. 46 47
