Background / History

Yu Xiaogang was an old friend and former traveling companion of Shrek Academy dean Flender. He became Tang San's teacher before arriving at Shrek Academy. 36

After the death of Nuoding Academy's headmaster, Yu Xiaogang lost his standing there. Other teachers assaulted him and expelled him from the academy, leaving him to seek refuge with Flender in Suotuo City. 68

At Shrek Academy, he learned that Lin Xiao had selected a hundred-year soul ring for Tang San. Believing a thousand-year ring would be more suitable, he confronted Lin Xiao and demanded approval over his disciple's future soul-ring absorption. Lin Xiao dismissed his expertise and intimidated him with his Soul Power. 37

Personality

Yu Xiaogang is fiercely protective of Tang San and outspoken when he believes the boy's cultivation is being mishandled. His objection to Lin Xiao's choice of soul ring came from this concern, even though the confrontation exposed the vast difference between their strength. 37

His experiences at Nuoding Academy left him resigned to the rule of strength in the soul master world. Despite Flender's anger over his treatment, Yu Xiaogang stated that he did not blame those who had driven him out. 68
