"Konan, take him over there." Pain looked at Uchiha Itachi. "As for you, Itachi, I'll arrange your lodgings separately."
"Come with me, newcomer." Konan glanced at Chiya expressionlessly, then turned and walked out of the tower.
Chiya followed close behind.
Before long, Chiya had been settled in a rather luxurious suite.
It had three bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom, and even a kitchen. It had practically everything.
It was hard to imagine that such luxurious amenities were available inside the gloomy Clock Tower.
This was much better than those Japanese-style wooden houses in the Uchiha compound that didn't even have a bed.
"By the way, are all the Akatsuki members' rooms this luxurious? This place is almost as nice as the presidential suite back home." As soon as he entered the room, Chiya lay down with a contented sigh.
"No, this is just an exception. The leader and I are making a special allowance for you," Konan said mildly.
"Is it because of Danzo?" Chiya propped his hands behind his head and glanced at Konan, asking casually.
"Looks like you know quite a lot." Konan narrowed her eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in them.
"Don't look at me like that. I served in Konoha's Anbu for a year, after all. I know plenty about Konoha's dark side. Otherwise, I wouldn't have decided to defect so easily."
Chiya sprang to his feet and sensed his surroundings briefly. After confirming Zetsu wasn't secretly watching them, he said seriously, "Senior Konan, I'm sure you're suspicious of that Masked Man's identity too."
"What do you mean?" Konan frowned.
"Nothing much. I just want to make a deal with you." Chiya grinned.
"What kind of deal?" Konan's interest was piqued.
"I can secretly investigate the Masked Man's identity for you. In return, you and
