"Infighting"
This sudden attack not only startled Fran, but also stunned the Necro-Skeleton Mage was preparing to attack.
Fran was stunned because she could tell that Anna had launched the attack; she hadn't expected her to do so at this moment.
What she didn't expect was that Anna didn't choose to attack her, but instead attacked her former teammate directly.
At that moment, Fran even wondered if she had suspected the wrong person. Anna wasn't even a member of this team; her encounter with Anna was purely coincidental...
Fran had originally planned that when the squad tried to attack her, they would find they still had five Shield Spell spells on them, which might lead to utter despair...
But to her utter surprise, Anna launched an attack so quickly, and instead of hitting her, she hit the person she suspected was also Anna's teammate.
Meanwhile, the Necro-Skeleton Mage on the other side thrust its head forward, and if it weren't eyeless, Fran would have wondered if it would have widened its eyes.
It really couldn't understand why these humans had started 'fighting amongst themselves'.
As an undead, it couldn't distinguish between humans, and from the moment it was born, it believed that all humans were one group.
So even though Fran had just come in and probably eliminated the seven skeletons it had placed outside to block the road, it didn't panic at all.
Based on the six humans it had encountered earlier, these humans were only slightly stronger than its Skeleton Soldier.
Unexpectedly, after Fran and the human behind her entered, they directly attacked the two humans who were fighting with it.
What's going on here? Is this some kind of internal strife?
Meanwhile, Gavin, standing to the side, was startled by the sound of something being pierced after the arrow struck its target; he had a bad feeling.
Gavin turned his head sharply and saw Grant, who had been shot through the neck with an arrow, unable to make a sound. He could only clutch his neck and fall backward to the ground with a heavy thud.
"That powerful mage Grant, just like that, is dead?" Gavin couldn't believe it.
Ever since he met Grant, he had never stopped envying Grant's magic. Grant not only had protective and powerful offensive spells, but also many spells that could control targets. Not to mention Grant's previously unseen Spirit Realm Talent.
Since joining the team, Grant has been a powerful force, defeating all sorts of formidable Magic Creature with his magical spells.
This event was so shocking to him that he was completely stunned and didn't even have time to react at first.
He completely forgot that they were still in the middle of a battle. Although the people on all sides on the Battlefield were stunned, the Skeleton Soldier who only followed their masters' orders didn't care about anything else.
They don't have much rationality; they only have the basic ability to distinguish friend from foe and to control weapons. So, if the humans on the other side fall, so be it.
What does this have to do with them?
Gavin, slightly regaining his composure from the immense shock, immediately noticed the arrow in Grant's neck; he seemed to recognize it...
Just then, the skeleton slashed down behind him with a single blow. Even though he was a warrior who had risen from the Spirit Realm, his physical attributes were undoubtedly at the First Order.
But even after taking that blow, he still felt unwell, and only then did he realize that he was in the middle of a fight.
He quickly retreated, gripping his weapon tightly to prevent it from slipping from his hand.
When he had created some distance between them, he glanced back and saw Fran standing there, looking at him with a curious and inquisitive gaze.
That look made him feel uneasy from the bottom of his heart, and an ominous feeling enveloped his mind.
That was the Talent [Danger Sense] he obtained from the Spirit Realm, a Talent that allowed him to avoid many risks during his Mercenary career.
He sensed the danger coming from Fran, since the arrow had only been fired from behind Fran, striking Grant.
But as he watched Fran remain motionless, and a sense of unease grew stronger within him.
At that moment, he turned around abruptly, only to be met with a tremendous force that grabbed his neck from behind and forced him to the ground.
When he lay on the ground and saw that familiar face, he froze.
"Anna, what happened?!"
He stared at the other person in disbelief, never expecting that they would attack them directly after disappearing!
Gavin's pupils contracted slightly, and even his struggle faltered for a moment.
But Anna was completely unaffected. Instead, she pulled out a small knife from her waist and stabbed it straight into her chest, near her heart.
Even though Gavin tried his best to grip the blade with his hand, even though the blade scraped his palm raw, it was all in vain, because the current posture made it difficult to exert force.
He could only watch helplessly as the small knife pierced his chest, drawing blood.
Just then, Anna breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that she had struck a vital spot. She gently said to Gavin:
"I'm sorry, Gavin, but I can't let you fail and hand that thing over to its owner, or perhaps the Goddess of Ocean Currents..."
"You, Grant, and I are alright, we're all alone, but Jett and Keen, who died in the previous battle, are different. They still have families."
"Taking that thing out of here will harm their families."
"Why are your ears...?"
Gavin's eyes widened, all his strength drained away, and he became a corpse forever.
Anna breathed a sigh of relief when she arrived. Ever since escaping the mine, she had been thinking about how to make the item disappear and prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.
She knew there was a Northern Lands Society in the Northern Territory and had originally planned to try her luck there, but unexpectedly, she saw a fellow countryman as soon as she stepped out the door, who was also the Alliance mage.
She believed that this was God helping her. As long as this fellow countryman called for support from the Northern Lands Society, then neither the Mercenary nor the Church of the Goddess of Ocean Currents would be able to slink back in disgrace.
However, after witnessing Fran's formidable fighting prowess, she had no choice but to temporarily change her plans. If Fran had been slightly weaker, her plan to dissuade her from calling for reinforcements would have been more reasonable.
But Fran is already so strong, why call for help? She can just fight directly.
However, she believed that as long as Fran encountered that thing, she would definitely call for help from the Northern Lands Society.
Anna forced a smile, stepped back slightly, and said to Fran:
"These people are in the way, I'll help you clear them out. You just focus on eliminating that Undead."
Fran responded with a playful smile, Fran turned to the side and pointed her longsword at the Undead.
