Soon, the infantry and some adventurers at the rear caught up with the main force. Taelan Fordring finally reunited with his brother.

He activated Cleansing Aura again, restoring and bolstering the warriors who had rushed to catch up.

His warhorse had been killed, so he had to request another. He had only just built trust and teamwork with that white horse. Now he had to start all over again. Even with the blessing of the Holy Light, an ordinary warhorse couldn't escape death on the battlefield.

Angela saw Taelan Fordring covered in wounds, with an arrow still lodged in his back. She hurried over and beat Kaelin to him, removing the arrow for him before deftly bandaging the wound on his arm.

He said softly, "Thank you, Angela. I'm all right now.

"Be careful out there. When we get back, tell me about Tina."

In truth, Taelan was wounded all over. Only the powerful damage reduction from Holy Armor kept the blood loss from killing him.

The cavalry led by Davi had completed its first attack. Rather than charge straight into the mass of Trolls, they had swept along the edge of their ranks, striking as they passed. The Paladins' fierce attack had reaped a wave of deaths.

They thundered past, leaving a lone warhorse behind. It lifted its head and snorted, waiting for its master...

The charge slowed the Trolls' pursuit. They stopped and formed a crude line, preparing to fight.

But Davi didn't stop to engage them in a pitched battle with sabers, as an ordinary human cavalry unit might have. Instead, he sped away from the battlefield and charged into the endless wilderness.

That charge had brought Taelan Fordring back to the main force and bought the following troops a brief chance to form their ranks.
