Background / History

Loxi was fishing by the sea when Bandejie and his crew forcibly took him aboard as a cabin boy. Unable to swim because of his Devil Fruit, he remained hidden in the ship's storage room after Bai Ina defeated the crew. Bai Ina permitted him to stay after learning that Loxi could bandage wounds. 6

He quickly became indispensable aboard Bai Ina's ship. Loxi navigated, managed supplies and expenses, prepared meals, and collected Bandejie's 500,000 Beli bounty from a Naval Base. 7 10 His sharp sense of smell exposed an ambush before he could see the attackers, though he was shot in the thigh and captured while refusing to surrender the money. Bai Ina rescued him. 8

After their ship was destroyed, Bai Ina brought the injured Loxi to Kubo Yamato's dojo. Loxi became connected to Kubo's disciples and later the Revolutionary Army; he helped Bai Ina pursue Zongcilang and Hijikata Yoshitoyo after CP9 abducted Kubo. 12 23 25 He knew the truth surrounding Kubo's death and carried that grief alongside Bai Ina for years. 64

Following the destruction that ended the Revolutionary Army's East Blue period, Loxi recovered and voluntarily joined the Navy's kitchen staff. While Bai Ina withdrew into alcoholism and isolation, Loxi secretly trained in the Six Powers so he could protect him. 63 64 66

Nine years after their separation, Loxi recognized CP9 agent Kalifa as his younger sister. Kalifa confirmed his identity, and the siblings reunited. 199

Personality

Loxi is outwardly gentle, sunny, and easygoing. He treats people warmly, handles domestic responsibilities without complaint, and is notably attentive to Bai Ina's food, injuries, and emotional state. 10 65 70

His kindness has a sharp boundary: anyone who endangers Bai Ina can face a cold, methodical killer. He deliberately chooses secluded quarters to conceal retaliation, trained himself in combat during Bai Ina's decline, and kills when he believes exposure or danger threatens his companion. 63 64 68

Loxi is also perceptive and resolute. He understands Bai Ina's grief and destructive impulses better than most of their allies, confronts him when necessary, and remains convinced that Bai Ina would never harm those he considers his own. 31 34 64
