Kuro returned to Kirigakure under the identity Shiina Sora, balancing the village’s reforms with his secret plans and growing Mangekyō powers. After Akatsuki began testing him, Mei Terumi hired the organization to investigate the Uzumaki ruins, and Kuro accepted the mission.
Kuro accompanied Mei Terumi on a covert mission to investigate the ruins of the Land of Whirlpools, but an unexpected reunion with Jiraiya led to a clash over Konoha and Kuro’s refusal to return. After escaping with Pain’s intervention, Kuro and Mei reached the ruins and recruited the reluctant ninja cat Cook to help them navigate.
Kuro explored the Uzumaki ruins, absorbed the ocular power sealed there, and relived the history of Indra, Asura, Ori, and the origins of the Uzumaki Clan. Back in the present, he confronted Orochimaru after the rogue attacked Jūzō Biwa and Kimimaro, then used his Mangekyō Sharingan to bring Orochimaru under control as a masked man appeared.
Kuro watched Jiraiya return to Konoha, where Minato and Kushina revealed the truth about their survival and Konoha’s recent turmoil. As Kakashi’s delegation met with Kuro and the controlled Fourth Mizukage, Mist Village and Konoha moved toward an alliance against Akatsuki.
Kuro faced Kakashi and Might Guy in the Land of Water, revealing why he had left Konoha and fighting them without exposing his full power. Afterward, he investigated Orochimaru’s connection to Danzo and learned that Danzo was hiding in the Land of Rice Fields.
Kuro killed Danzo and took in the surviving children, while Itachi and Kuro were assigned to hunt Orochimaru in the Land of Lightning. Hatake Sakumo and Asuma arrived there seeking Kuro and clashed with Sasori, but Kuro left with Itachi to pursue a hidden tomb, refusing to return to Konoha.
Kuro and Itachi pursued Orochimaru to an Uchiha mausoleum, where they discovered the Totsuka Blade was already gone. After the Fourth Raikage tried to recruit Kuro and capture him, Kuro escaped with Flying Thunder God and reached a hidden cavern in the Cloud Thunder Mountain Range.
Kuro gained the power he needed to reshape the Ninja World, then returned to Konoha with Mist Village’s alliance proposal and confronted Sasuke about training him. Sasuke refused to trust Kuro until Kuro revealed his Mangekyō Sharingan.
Kuro reconnected with Sasuke, then revealed the truth about Obito and his past to Minato and Kushina while refusing to return to Konoha. After an emotional reunion with Anko, Kuro disappeared again, but later appeared at the Ninja Academy with Kakashi, Kisame, and Utakata.
Kuro strengthened ties with Konoha and continued building his own place in the Mist Village, while Akatsuki recruited new members and assigned its teams. Raiga revealed the existence of Madara’s secret organization, Moon, and Obito brought him to Night City as Hiruko’s Chimera Technique project advanced.
As Akatsuki and the Sand Village launched their attack during the Chunin Exams, Kuro protected Konoha and confronted Pain’s forces. He trapped the Akatsuki inside a barrier and prepared to fight them in Sage Mode.
Kuro defeated Pain and confronted Obito, then exposed his identity as Uchiha Kuro to Mist Village before leaving. As Obito’s allies regrouped and Kuro sought support against the coming threat, Mei Terumi arrived to negotiate an alliance and reconnect with him.
Kuro reconciled with Mei and learned that Madara had survived and manipulated the conflict behind the Eye of the Moon Plan. After taking Nagato’s Rinnegan and dealing with Itachi, Kuro prepared to bring Naruto and Sasuke to the Land of Rice as Madara’s threat loomed.
Kuro summoned Hashirama and Tobirama to help stop Madara, then gathered the nations’ leaders and revealed the threat of the Eye of the Moon Plan. After refusing Madara’s vision of peace, Kuro and Hashirama fought him, while Kuro sensed Indra’s chakra merging with Asura’s in his right eye.
Kuro gained Six Paths power and prepared the allied forces for the final battle against Madara and Obito. After Hashirama was revived and empowered to face Madara, the Fourth Shinobi World War began, while Kuro's whereabouts and the true identity of his guiding jonin remained uncertain.
As the Allied Shinobi Forces fought the White Zetsu army and Madara’s allies, Kuro obtained the power to become the Ten-Tails’ Jinchuriki and confronted Madara. Their battle shook the Ninja World, while Obito approached Mei Terumi and Karin to discuss Kuro.
Kuro defeated Madara and entrusted the future of the Ninja World to peace, while Obito atoned by reviving the dead and reuniting with Rin. The resurrected Uchiha learned the truth behind the massacre, accepted Konoha’s apologies without seeking revenge, and prepared to leave for the Land of Rice.
