Arc 5Genya’s Rise and the Grass War

Genya became the Fifth Hokage, consolidated control over Konoha, and led a decisive campaign against Kumogakure in the Land of Grass. After securing Kusagakure’s submission and protection, he sent Itachi and a Hyuga Jonin to investigate a red-haired woman held in a dungeon.

  • Jiraiya confronted Xuanye over Mount Myoboku and the Uchiha’s political ambitions, while Xuanye showed him evidence of Danzō’s crimes and defended the statue exposing them.
  • Xuanye challenged Hiruzen over his ties to Danzō, then assured Jiraiya he would avoid a political purge, and the jonin elected Xuanye Hokage by more than nine to one.
  • Xuanye reshaped Konoha’s security and intelligence forces, appointed Kakashi to lead Anbu, Orochimaru to lead research, and pressed clan leaders to commit to his rule.

  • Xuanye secured Kusagakure’s plea for Konoha’s protection, then sent Itachi and a Hyuga Jonin to find a red-haired woman and her possible daughter, and they entered a dungeon after defeating its guards.
Chapters 101–125 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 101Mount Myoboku, Jiraiya

Jiraiya visited the Uchiha compound and confirmed Naruto was thriving there, then learned Xuanye had publicly killed Danzo and displayed a statue of him as a criminal. When Jiraiya confronted Xuanye, Xuanye challenged his loyalty to Konoha and accused him of belonging to Mount Myoboku.

  • Fugaku told Jiraiya that the Uchiha supported Xuanye, and Jiraiya saw Naruto and Sasuke happily tussling in Mikoto's care.
  • Jiraiya decided to leave Naruto with the Uchiha and went to meet Xuanye at the Security Division.
  • Jiraiya saw a statue of Danzo outside the Uchiha compound and learned that Xuanye had killed him for abducting villagers and conducting illegal human experiments.
  • Jiraiya entered Xuanye's office and tried to dismiss Mount Myoboku as merely a title his friends used.
  • Xuanye questioned whether Jiraiya would prioritize Konoha or Mount Myoboku if their interests conflicted, leaving the two in a tense confrontation.

Ch. 102Statue of a Criminal

Xuanye confronted Jiraiya over Mount Myoboku and the Uchiha’s conflict with Sarutobi Hiruzen, then showed him evidence of Shimura Danzō’s crimes. After learning Xuanye had put up a kneeling statue of Danzō with a list of his crimes, Sarutobi Hiruzen realized the display could push the remaining undecided clans toward the Uchiha.

  • Jiraiya struggled to answer Xuanye’s questions about Mount Myoboku and admitted he had returned to compete for the Fifth Hokage position.
  • Xuanye accused Sarutobi Hiruzen of either permitting or failing to stop Danzō’s kidnappings and Sharingan experiments, and Jiraiya accepted that either possibility disqualified Hiruzen as Hokage.
  • Xuanye listed the clans and ninja who had aligned with him, leaving Jiraiya despairing over his chances.
  • Jiraiya thanked Xuanye for helping on the Night of the Nine-Tails and protecting Naruto, then asked about the statue of Danzō.
  • Xuanye gave Jiraiya evidence of Danzō’s crimes and explained that the statue was meant to warn Konoha schemers and preserve Danzō’s evil reputation.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen learned Xuanye had erected a kneeling statue of Danzō with a stone tablet listing his crimes, and feared it would drive more clans to support the Uchiha.

Ch. 103At the End of the Road

Sarutobi Hiruzen went to the Konoha Security Division to challenge Uchiha Genya over the public disgrace of Danzo’s name, hoping Jiraiya could help restrain Genya. He found Jiraiya already meeting amicably with Genya and demanded to know why he was there.

  • Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu urged Sarutobi Hiruzen to respond to Genya’s public attack on Danzo’s reputation.
  • Hiruzen headed to the Konoha Security Division, encouraged by Jiraiya’s return and his ability to use Senjutsu.
  • Hiruzen saw villagers spitting on Danzo’s Bronze Statue and was stopped at the entrance until Genya allowed him inside.
  • Hiruzen entered Genya’s office and confronted him about disgracing Danzo, then noticed Jiraiya was there and getting along with Genya.
  • Hiruzen asked Jiraiya why he was at the Security Division, fearing that Jiraiya had joined Genya’s side.

Ch. 104I'll Live Off You for the Rest of Your Life

Xuanye threatened Hiruzen with more revelations about his cooperation with Danzo and made clear he would use the evidence to control him indefinitely. Hiruzen restrained himself rather than risk his life and Konoha in a fight with the Uchiha, while Jiraiya tried to prevent their conflict from escalating.

  • Xuanye rebuked Hiruzen for entering without knocking, and Jiraiya tried to calm them down.
  • Hiruzen asked whether Xuanye had commissioned the bronze statue exposing Danzo’s crimes, and Xuanye confirmed it was meant to warn others.
  • Xuanye threatened to add Hiruzen’s cooperation with Danzo and the Konoha F4’s families to the statue’s record.
  • Xuanye laughed at Hiruzen’s belief that political leverage could only be used once and resolved to hold the evidence over him for the rest of his life.
  • Hiruzen considered fighting Xuanye but feared his death would trigger an Uchiha rebellion and leave Konoha vulnerable to invasion.
  • Jiraiya urged Xuanye and Hiruzen to remember they were on the same side and avoid civil war.

Ch. 105The Hokage Election Begins

Genya assured Jiraiya that he would not purge the Hokage Faction if he became Hokage, while Jiraiya openly supported an Uchiha taking the office. Sarutobi Hiruzen stormed out, and the Fifth Hokage election began with Genya facing little opposition.

  • Jiraiya asked Genya how he would treat Sarutobi Hiruzen and the advisers if he became Hokage, and Genya said political purges weakened villages.
  • Jiraiya told Sarutobi Hiruzen to accept Genya's assurances and argued that the Uchiha deserved a chance to produce a Hokage.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen accused Jiraiya of betraying the village's founding principles and left in anger.
  • Genya ended the meeting and said the Fifth Hokage selection ceremony would begin the next day.
  • The Jonin Council convened, and Jiraiya received little support as the Hokage Faction's candidate because Sarutobi Hiruzen's reputation had collapsed.

Ch. 106Fifth Hokage

Uchiha Genya won the Jonin Council’s vote by an overwhelming margin and became Konoha’s Fifth Hokage. He took office, received a system reward, and promised the village that he would lead it to victory over its enemies.

  • Jiraiya showed little interest in becoming Hokage, while more than ninety percent of the jonin supported Genya.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen abstained, and the vote elected Genya by a margin greater than nine to one.
  • Inabi helped Genya put on the Hokage robe and hat, completing Genya’s system quest and granting him a lottery draw and Yang Release Chakra transformation.
  • Hiruzen formally handed the position to Genya, who accepted without feigning reluctance.
  • Genya promised the jonin that Konoha would reclaim what it had lost, and the assembled Shinobi shouted, “Long live Konoha!”

Ch. 107The Victor's Rewards (Part One)

Xuanye began rewarding his supporters after becoming the Fifth Hokage and explained his plans for the Security Division and Anbu. He left Fugaku to choose whether to retain the Uchiha’s captaincy, while proposing that the division eventually pass to someone outside the clan.

  • Xuanye asked Fugaku whether he wanted to remain Captain of the Security Division or become an adviser without real authority.
  • Fugaku asked whether the position mattered to the Uchiha, and Xuanye stressed its importance and outlined separate jurisdictions and intelligence networks for the Security Division and Anbu.
  • Xuanye said the two departments would monitor each other, require his written order to arrest one another’s members, and abolish Root.
  • Xuanye reprimanded Fugaku for failing to address him as Lord Hokage, and Fugaku complied.
  • Xuanye said the next Security Division captain could be an Uchiha, but later captains should come from civilian backgrounds or other clans.

Ch. 108Winner's Settlement Screen (Part 2)

Xuanye negotiated the Uchiha Clan’s control of the Security Division and reorganized Konoha’s key forces after becoming Hokage. The chapter ended with Kakashi taking charge of the Anbu and receiving orders to expand it into an intelligence-gathering force.

  • Xuanye offered Fugaku the choice of remaining Security Division captain for five years or stepping down while an Uchiha held the post until Itachi came of age; Fugaku chose to stay.
  • Xuanye appointed Inabi vice captain and ordered Itachi and Uchiha jonin with Three-Tomoe Sharingan to transfer from the Security Division to the Anbu.
  • Xuanye promised Hizashi an advisory Elder position for the Hyuga Clan and said qualified Branch Family members could join the Anbu or Security Division.
  • Xuanye appointed Kakashi as Anbu head and ordered him to identify Sarutobi Hiruzen’s loyalists and move them away from key positions.
  • Xuanye told Kakashi to expand Anbu recruitment and training, shifting its main focus from assassination to intelligence gathering across the Ninja World.

Ch. 109The Ino-Shika-Cho Dilemma

Xuanye assigned Kakashi, Orochimaru, and the Inuzuka Clan new roles and benefits while placing his own people across Konoha's departments. He then demanded that the Ino-Shika-Cho clans choose whether to pledge loyalty to him, leaving Nara Shikaku weighing the consequences.

  • Xuanye promised Kakashi's Anbu operatives funding equal to that of Security Division personnel and appointed Orochimaru to lead the Research Department.
  • Xuanye ordered Inuzuka Tsume to send five Inuzuka Clan Shinobi and their fierce-looking canine partners to the Security Division.
  • After other attendees left, Xuanye demanded a definite answer from the Ino-Shika-Cho clan heads about abandoning their policy of supporting whoever held the Hokage's seat.
  • Xuanye accused the three clans of betraying Sarutobi Hiruzen and warned that their wavering loyalty made them unfit for special responsibilities.
  • Xuanye offered the clans equal rewards for their contributions but said they would receive no advance notice of village plans unless they chose loyalty to him.
  • Nara Shikaku considered the difficult choice and recognized that Xuanye would have to expand outward or take resources from Konoha's people to fund his plans.

Ch. 110Yang Release Fusion

Genya rejected the Nara clan’s request for time, then fused Yang Release and began a Myriad World Lottery. In Kumogakure, A learned how Konoha had treated his envoys and called for war, while Dodai first sought to hear the full account.

  • Genya dismissed Nara Shikaku and the other clan representatives after they refused to commit to an alliance with the Uchiha.
  • Genya claimed his reward and fused Yang Release, sensing it strengthen his body and gradually increase his Mangekyō’s ocular power.
  • Genya began the Myriad World Lottery as the surviving Kumogakure envoys returned, one missing an arm.
  • A ordered Kumogakure’s troops to assemble and march on the Land of Fire, but Dodai told him to hear the envoys’ account first.
  • The envoys described their beating in Konoha, their leader’s death after attempting to abduct a Hyuga heir, and Genya cutting off one envoy’s arm before expelling them.
  • After hearing the account, A renewed his anger and challenged Dodai to accept Konoha’s treatment without retaliation.

Ch. 111Esdeath

Kumogakure’s leaders decided to answer Konoha’s provocation with a limited war in the Land of Grass, while Xuanye gained Esdeath’s ice-controlling Demon's Extract. The chapter ended with Xuanye drinking it and his Eternal Mangekyō effortlessly crushing its mental contamination.

  • A demanded war after learning that Uchiha Genya had been elected Konoha’s Fifth Hokage, while Dodai urged caution and verified the news.
  • Dodai proposed a limited campaign in the Land of Grass because Kumogakure could not afford a large invasion, and A agreed to send two thousand troops with Yugito and Killer B.
  • Xuanye drew Esdeath and received Demon's Extract, an Imperial Armament that granted powerful ice-control abilities to anyone who survived its mental contamination.
  • Xuanye drank Demon's Extract, and his Eternal Mangekyō crushed the contamination without difficulty.

Ch. 112The Daimyo? A Walking Moneybag

After gaining Water nature through the Demon's Extract, Xuanye watched the Daimyo of the Land of Fire arrive in Konoha and saw Sarutobi Hiruzen provoke him into demanding an audience. Xuanye recognized Hiruzen's scheme and prepared to confront the Daimyo on his own terms.

  • Xuanye drank the Demon's Extract, gained Ice Release and Water nature, and realized that mastering Earth nature would bring him closer to possessing every nature.
  • The Daimyo of the Land of Fire arrived at Konoha, where Sarutobi Hiruzen and two advisers waited to receive him.
  • Sarutobi Hiruzen told the Daimyo that the Fifth Hokage was too busy to greet him, stirring the Daimyo's anger toward Uchiha Genya.
  • The Daimyo ordered Sarutobi Hiruzen to summon the Fifth Hokage, and Hiruzen sent a Shinobi to notify Uchiha Genya.
  • Xuanye watched the exchange through the Telescope Technique, recognized Hiruzen's attempt to undermine him, and dismissed the Daimyo as a walking moneybag.

Ch. 113That Man

Xuanye moved to consolidate control in Konoha, ordering arrests of Shinobi connected to Sarutobi Hiruzen and sending Kakashi to recruit a finance expert. He kept the Daimyo waiting at the gates, while Sarutobi Hiruzen turned the Daimyo against Uchiha Genya.

  • Xuanye ordered Kakashi to have Uchiha Fugaku and the Security Division arrest and interrogate Shinobi who had contacted Sarutobi Hiruzen, and he sent Kakashi with Might Guy to retrieve a man from the Underground Exchange.
  • Xuanye forced Sarutobi Shinnosuke to kneel and ordered him to report to the Security Division, removing him from his Anbu duties.
  • Xuanye decided to keep the Daimyo as a puppet and studied Konoha’s financial reports, concluding that he needed a capable head for the Finance Department.
  • The Daimyo waited at Konoha’s gates while Xuanye ignored his visit, and Sarutobi Hiruzen blamed Uchiha Genya’s lack of etiquette for the insult.
  • The Daimyo grew angry at the Uchiha after Sarutobi Hiruzen reminded him of his ties to the Senju.

Ch. 114Transcription Seal, Controlling the Daimyo

Genya used a Mangekyō technique to manipulate the Daimyo and let him leave without confronting him, while Sarutobi Hiruzen’s attempt to use the Daimyo’s funding to restrain Genya backfired. Genya then warned Hiruzen that his promise not to purge the village applied only to Hiruzen and two others, and hinted that he would investigate the four great families’ embezzlement.

  • The Daimyo arrived at the Hokage Office, but Genya ignored him and said they were on opposing sides because Sarutobi Hiruzen had invited him.
  • When the Daimyo tried to leave, Genya used Transcription Seal to plant a suggestion and imprint Mirror Flower, Water Moon’s ocular technique in his mind.
  • The Daimyo left without realizing Genya had manipulated him, while Sarutobi Hiruzen was stunned that their meeting had gone differently than planned.
  • Genya confronted Sarutobi Hiruzen about using the Daimyo and funding to keep him in check, and refused to apologize.
  • Genya told Sarutobi Hiruzen that his promise not to carry out a political purge applied only to the three of them, then threatened to act against those who had undermined him.

Ch. 115Common Sense Rewritten

Uchiha Genya retaliated against Sarutobi Hiruzen for the Daimyo compensation scheme, while the Daimyo’s altered judgment kept him from recognizing Xuanye’s influence. Hiruzen sent Asuma to serve the Daimyo, then learned that the Security Division had detained clan shinobi connected to him and his allies, leaving the elders facing demands for payment.

  • Xuanye threatened Hiruzen with punishment and possible conflict with Kumogakure, then ordered him to leave.
  • Hiruzen caught up with the Daimyo, soothed his anger, and offered Asuma Sarutobi as a member of the Twelve Guardian Ninja.
  • The Daimyo accepted Asuma and ordered him to report to the Daimyo Mansion.
  • Mitokado Homura and Utatane Koharu told Hiruzen that the Security Division had summoned their clan shinobi and would keep them imprisoned unless their clans paid.
  • Hiruzen realized Xuanye was retaliating against their clans, while Homura and Koharu demanded that he find a solution.

Ch. 116Kumogakure's Challenge

Sarutobi Hiruzen and the elders accepted that they had to ransom their captured Shinobi and keep a low profile as Kumogakure issued Konoha a challenge. Hokage Uchiha Genya prepared to use the limited war to establish his prestige and bring Kusagakure under Konoha’s control, ordering the village to march in one day.

  • Sarutobi Hiruzen overruled Utatane Koharu and told the elders that each clan would ransom its own Shinobi and avoid confronting Uchiha Genya for now.
  • Fourth Raikage A challenged Konoha to a limited battle in the Land of Grass, with each side deploying two thousand Shinobi.
  • Uchiha Genya convened Konoha’s leaders, and Nara Shikaku suggested Kumogakure was limiting its forces to guard against Iwagakure.
  • Uchiha Genya explained that Konoha needed a contained war it could win to build his prestige among its Shinobi.
  • Uchiha Genya declared that Konoha would subdue Kusagakure and ordered Nara Shikaku to allocate forces and resources for a march in one day.

Ch. 117The Eve of War

Xuanye refused Itachi’s request to let Shisui join the war, but offered a chance for Shisui to regain a pair of Three-Tomoe Sharingan if Itachi distinguished himself. The next morning, Xuanye prepared to lead Konoha’s elite force against Kumogakure, leaving Fugaku and Shikaku to guard the village.

  • Shikaku understood that Xuanye planned to use Kusagakure’s shinobi as cannon fodder to discipline the village and bring the Land of Grass under Konoha’s influence.
  • Itachi asked Xuanye to let Shisui take part in the war so he could redeem himself, but Xuanye refused and reminded Itachi that Shisui had tried to control and kill him with Kotoamatsukami.
  • Xuanye assigned Itachi tasks on the battlefield and promised to consider giving Shisui a pair of Three-Tomoe Sharingan if Itachi distinguished himself.
  • Konoha assembled eight hundred experienced shinobi, including elite members of the Uchiha and Hyuga clans, to fight Kumogakure.
  • Xuanye ordered Fugaku and Shikaku to remain in Konoha, left a Shadow Clone in his place, and authorized the Security Division to act against anyone causing trouble.

Ch. 118Why We Fight

Xuanye rallied Konoha’s army by explaining that the war against Kumogakure was a defense of every comrade and Konoha’s dignity, then led the force into the Land of Grass. After warning Itachi that weak villages were vulnerable to the greed of stronger nations, Xuanye ordered a surprise attack on Kusagakure.

  • Xuanye told Konoha’s assembled Shinobi that they were fighting to protect Hyuga Hiashi and Konoha’s dignity, not merely one person.
  • Hiashi offered his life to prevent the war, but Xuanye stopped him and declared he would fight for any comrade facing the same demand.
  • Xuanye’s speech raised the army’s morale, and he led Konoha’s elites out of the village with a week’s supply of military ration pills.
  • Konoha’s army reached Kusagakure before Kumogakure, and Xuanye told Itachi that weak villages could be bullied by stronger nations driven by greed.
  • Xuanye ordered a surprise attack on Kusagakure, with Uchiha elites leading the charge and Hyuga Shinobi helping clear hidden sentries.

Ch. 119The Plight of a Small Nation

Xuanye led Konoha forces in a surprise assault that quickly forced Kusagakure to surrender. He claimed Konoha had come to protect the Land of Grass from Kumogakure and ordered Kusagakure to gather its Shinobi for the coming war.

  • Konoha forces overwhelmed Kusagakure's Shinobi, and Hyuga Hiashi demanded their surrender.
  • Kusagakure's leader surrendered and met Xuanye, asking why Konoha had attacked despite their alliance.
  • Hiashi gave Xuanye scrolls listing Kusagakure's Shinobi, including twelve purported Elite Jonin.
  • Xuanye ordered Kusagakure's leader to gather every Shinobi by the next night and claimed Konoha had come to repel a planned Kumogakure invasion.
  • Kusagakure's leader swallowed his humiliation and agreed with Xuanye's explanation.

Ch. 120War on the Brink

Xuanye forced Kusagakure to send a thousand Shinobi to help Konoha against Kumogakure and seized the village’s secret technique scrolls as payment. At the Land of Grass border, Kumogakure learned that Konoha and Kusagakure were allied, and A struggled to contain his brother Killer B.

  • Xuanye intimidated Kusagakure’s leader into sending all its jonin and enough other Shinobi to make a force of one thousand.
  • Xuanye demanded Kusagakure’s Secret Technique scrolls as payment for Konoha’s help, including techniques that interested Orochimaru.
  • A Hyuga Shinobi told Xuanye they had not found the person they were searching for, and Xuanye decided to deal with Kusagakure’s leader after the war.
  • Kumogakure’s sensory Shinobi reported that Konoha had reached the Land of Grass first and that Kusagakure Shinobi were among its ranks.
  • A erupted at Kusagakure’s apparent alliance with Konoha, while Killer B tried to calm him with a rap.

Ch. 121A, Killer B, Yugito

Genya faced A, Killer B, and Yugito in a planned clash between Konoha and Kumogakure, then revealed his Susanoo and overwhelmed the battlefield with its first strike. He left A and the two jinchūriki dodging his attacks as they tried to counter.

  • Yugito urged A to attack Konoha's smaller force, but A chose to face them openly after learning they had been spotted.
  • Genya met A between the armies with Orochimaru and Hyuga Hiashi, and A mocked Genya's youth and challenged him to a one-on-one fight.
  • Genya activated his Sharingan and summoned his third-stage Susanoo, then brought its enormous blade down toward A.
  • Killer B entered Perfect Jinchuriki mode and pulled A aside while Yugito dodged with her chakra cloak, and Genya's strike carved a massive gash into the plains.
  • Genya pursued A, Killer B, and Yugito with Susanoo's weapons, taunting them as they fled until they prepared to counterattack.

Ch. 122Fierce Battle in Kumogakure

Genya used Susanoo and Magnet Release: Railgun to overwhelm the Kumogakure Shinobi, piercing A despite Yugito’s attempt to save him. Genya then charged Yugito with a lightning-clad Susanoo as she began forcing out a Tailed Beast Bomb, leaving their confrontation on the brink of a deadly collision.

  • Gyūki warned Killer B that Genya’s Mangekyō Sharingan made him dangerous, but Killer B drew his eight blades to fight.
  • A used Lightning Release Chakra Mode and cracked Genya’s Susanoo with a Lightning Oppression Horizontal Chop.
  • Genya aimed a Magnet Release: Railgun shot at A, while Yugito formed a Tailed Beast Bomb and detonated it between them to knock A aside.
  • Genya’s Railgun pierced A’s body, and Yugito cried out as the Raikage was wounded.
  • Genya covered Susanoo in lightning and charged Yugito, who forced Matatabi’s power into a Tailed Beast Bomb as her Iron Armor Seal began to give way.

Ch. 123One Against Three

Genya used Susanoo to redirect Yugito’s Tailed Beast Bomb toward Kumogakure, then captured and subdued her. With A badly injured and Killer B unconscious, Genya stood over the battlefield as Konoha celebrated, while Kusagakure’s leader worried about the village’s position between the two powers.

  • Genya caught Yugito’s Tailed Beast Bomb with Susanoo and hurled it toward Kumogakure’s forces.
  • A intercepted the bomb while Killer B transformed into Gyuki and shielded them with his eight tails; the blast left Killer B unconscious and A badly wounded.
  • Genya’s Susanoo remained unharmed, while it held Yugito, whose partial transformation had left her attacking in a frenzy.
  • Genya tightened Susanoo’s grip until Yugito lost consciousness, then addressed Kumogakure while holding her captive.
  • Konoha’s forces cheered Genya, and Kusagakure’s leader worried about whether the village should support Konoha or avoid provoking Kumogakure.

Ch. 124Kumogakure's Crushing Defeat

Xuanye led Konoha and Kusagakure to rout Kumogakure after defeating A and the two Perfect Jinchuriki, capturing Yugito. With Kumogakure retreating and Konoha’s losses minimal, Xuanye left the battlefield in control of the captured Two-Tails Jinchuriki.

  • Xuanye ordered Konoha to attack, and the leader of Kusagakure joined the charge rather than risk facing Susanoo alone.
  • A ordered Kumogakure to retreat, leaving Yugito behind, and Killer B reluctantly helped lead the withdrawal.
  • Xuanye’s forces routed Kumogakure in less than an hour, killing more than a thousand Shinobi and capturing over five hundred while Konoha suffered fewer than ten casualties.
  • Xuanye handed the unconscious Yugito to Orochimaru, who reinforced her seal to prevent her from waking and going berserk.
  • Hyuga Hiashi and the other Konoha Shinobi pledged their service to Xuanye, while the leader of Kusagakure coveted Yugito before Xuanye’s warning stopped him.

Ch. 125Acting in the Shadows

Xuanye pressured the Kusagakure leader into seeking Konoha’s protection, then sent Itachi and a Hyuga Jonin to find a red-haired woman held in a hidden cave. They infiltrated the dungeon and swiftly killed its guards and two injured Jonin, leaving the woman’s fate unresolved.

  • Xuanye warned the Kusagakure leader that his village could not withstand Kumogakure’s retaliation and secured his plea for Konoha’s protection.
  • Xuanye sent Itachi and a Hyuga Jonin to locate a red-haired woman and her possible daughter while avoiding a confrontation with Kusagakure.
  • Itachi and the Hyuga Jonin followed injured Kusagakure Jonin to a hidden cave and used the Byakugan to assess its guards.
  • Itachi and the Hyuga Jonin killed the cave’s guards and entered the dungeon, where they found two Jonin drawing Chakra from a red-haired woman.
  • Itachi subdued one Jonin with his Sharingan while the Hyuga Jonin killed the other, and the chapter ended with them inside the dungeon.
