Genya became the Fifth Hokage, consolidated control over Konoha, and led a decisive campaign against Kumogakure in the Land of Grass. After securing Kusagakure’s submission and protection, he sent Itachi and a Hyuga Jonin to investigate a red-haired woman held in a dungeon.

• Jiraiya confronted Xuanye over Mount Myoboku and the Uchiha’s political ambitions, while Xuanye showed him evidence of Danzō’s crimes and defended the statue exposing them.
• Xuanye challenged Hiruzen over his ties to Danzō, then assured Jiraiya he would avoid a political purge, and the jonin elected Xuanye Hokage by more than nine to one.
• Xuanye reshaped Konoha’s security and intelligence forces, appointed Kakashi to lead Anbu, Orochimaru to lead research, and pressed clan leaders to commit to his rule.
• Xuanye manipulated the Daimyo, retaliated against Hiruzen’s allies, and prepared Konoha for a limited war after Kumogakure challenged the village in the Land of Grass.

Xuanye secured Konoha’s gains in Kusagakure, negotiated with Kumogakure, and recovered the sealed Uchiha Hikari. Back in Konoha, he positioned Hikari to become clan head while managing the village’s rewards and political tensions.

• Xuanye took Kaho and Karin Uzumaki to Konoha’s camp, then ordered Kusagakure to transfer Hozuki Castle and assigned Orochimaru secret experiments there.
• Xuanye captured part of Matatabi’s Chakra, negotiated a ceasefire and ransom with Darui, and sent Kumogakure to attack the Land of Fire’s Daimyo in exchange for Yugito.
• Xuanye and Itachi found Uchiha Hikari’s sealed coffin, fought her after she awakened, and Xuanye subdued and sealed her before returning to Konoha.
• Xuanye welcomed the returning forces, rewarded Orochimaru and Konoha’s Shinobi, and learned that civilians opposing his rule had contacted the Sarutobi Clan.
• Xuanye told Hikari she would be his younger sister and persuaded her to consider becoming Uchiha clan head, while advising Itachi to keep his Mangekyō abilities secret.
• Xuanye brought Hikari to Fugaku’s home, revealed her centuries-old origins, and instructed Fugaku to present her publicly as his younger sister.

Xuanye brought Kakuzu to Konoha to audit the village’s finances, then forced Sarutobi Hiruzen and the other clans to repay their embezzled funds. He appointed Kakuzu to lead Finance and began a village-wide business expansion, ending with new terms for clan investment and a final favor to the Uchiha.

• Xuanye promised to remove Uchiha Hikari’s Sealing if she defeated Itachi without ninjutsu or the Sharingan, while Kakashi and Guy tracked down Kakuzu and brought him to Konoha.
• Xuanye hired Kakuzu to audit Konoha’s accounts, and the four major families grew alarmed as the audit exposed their past embezzlement.
• Attackers from the major clans tried to kill Kakuzu, but Shisui, Kakashi, and the Anbu captured them, including Sarutobi Shinnosuke.
• Kakuzu found more than thirty billion ryō in questionable accounts, and Xuanye confronted Sarutobi Hiruzen over the attack and the clans’ financial misconduct.
• Xuanye used Kakuzu’s audit to demand repayment of fifty billion ryō, and the clans surrendered money and property while Hiruzen agreed to retire.
• Xuanye paid Kakuzu with property deeds and appointed him head of the Finance Department, then won support for a plan to expand Konoha’s infrastructure and clan businesses.
• Xuanye set investment terms for the clans, accepted Kakuzu’s offer to invest, and gave Fugaku Kumogakure’s Lightning Release Chakra Secret Technique for suitable Uchiha.

Xuanye arranged for Kirigakure’s Kekkei Genkai clans to defect to Konoha, then fought through the village and confronted Obito. Obito escaped after using Izanagi, leaving Xuanye aware that his illusions threatened Obito but that Kamui remained difficult to counter.

• Fugaku took Xuanye to the Empty District, where Xuanye met Hikari and persuaded Cat Granny to accept Matatabi and train Ninja Cats with the Lightning Release Chakra Mode.
• Xuanye ordered Fugaku to pursue Kirigakure’s Kekkei Genkai clans, while Kakashi returned from escorting Yugito and received the Lightning Release Chakra Mode scroll.
• Xuanye traveled to Kirigakure with Orochimaru and Hizashi, convinced Hozuki Longchuan to bring the Hozuki, Yuki, and surviving Kaguya clans to Konoha, and entered the village openly.
• Yagura and Kirigakure’s defenders attacked Xuanye, who fought Mei, Ao, Fuguki, and Raiga, killed many shinobi, and claimed the Lightning Blades: Fang.
• Xuanye summoned Matatabi and unleashed Blaze Release against Kirigakure, surviving the resulting explosion behind Susanoo and Saha World.
• Yagura transformed into the Three-Tails, but Xuanye trapped Isobu and drove it back into Yagura, freeing him from Obito’s control.
• Obito attacked Xuanye, but Xuanye’s Mirror Flower, Water Moon Illusion Technique repeatedly thwarted Kamui, and Xuanye pierced Obito’s heart after disrupting his sense of time.
• Xuanye used Mahapadma to behead Obito and cut Black Zetsu in two, but Black Zetsu escaped with Obito’s head, and Obito returned using Izanagi before fleeing through Kamui.
