"Wow! Wang Yang, you really are amazing." Son Goku jumped out, his eyes shining as he looked at Wang Yang.
Wang Yang knew this guy's hands were itching, and seeing him, his own hands felt the same, so he gave him a cheeky grin.
Next came the drawing of lots: Wang Yang was number one, Yamcha number two, Tien Shinhan number three, Mercenary Tao number four, Son Goku number five, Chi-Chi number six, Krillin number seven, and Piccolo Jr. number eight.
"What a coincidence, we're matched up in the first round." Wang Yang smiled brightly at Yamcha.
"Hmph! Just wait until you see my ultimate technique!" Ever since seeing Wang Yang's battle with Shen, Yamcha had felt a bit intimidated, but he refused to lose his nerve—especially against a guy like Wang Yang; he would rather die than show weakness.
On the empty arena, the two stood facing each other.
Wang Yang had handsome features and a sturdy build, with smooth muscle definition and hair that stood up slightly, his two bangs on his forehead giving him a spirited look.
"Go! Go!"
Below, Bulma clasped her hands together and shouted loudly.
"Bulma, who exactly are you cheering for!" Oolong glanced at Bulma.
"I'm cheering for both of them, let them have a good fight!" Bulma thought for a moment, feeling that cheering for Yamcha was expected, but since Wang Yang was also her friend, she should encourage him too; thinking about it that way, it seemed perfectly reasonable.
"You two-timing woman!" Oolong muttered.
A jade-white fist descended from above, instantly raising a bump on its head.
"Shut up!"
"Take this! Wolf Fang Fist!" As the match began, Yamcha charged toward Wang Yang at high speed. Ever since learning of Wang Yang's strength, he didn't dare hold back, unleashing his signature move right from the start.
A fierce, vicious wolf appeared behind Yamcha, baring its fangs and claws as it lunged at Wang Yang.
Wang Yang watched Yamcha with a faint smile, arms crossed and standing perfectly still, letting Yamcha attack.
Yamcha's fists were like the wind, manifesting multiple arms, and his countless strikes all landed on Wang Yang. A moment later, he was horrified to discover that he hadn't felt the slightest resistance, as if he were only hitting afterimages.
"Afterimage Strike? But why didn't the afterimage dissipate after I attacked?" Yamcha backflipped three times to create distance, his face filled with shock.
"No, that's not the Afterimage Strike. It's just that Wang Yang's speed is too fast; he dodges Yamcha's attacks and returns to his original spot, making it seem like he hasn't moved at all." Tien Shinhan's three eyes were incredibly sharp, faintly catching glimpses of Wang Yang's astonishing speed.
King Piccolo's expression turned ugly. He felt that at the speed Wang Yang was displaying, he was practically his equal, which made his pressure increase significantly.
Of course, this was still Wang Yang suppressing a vast amount of energy to match Yamcha's level; otherwise, none of these people would have been able to see him at all.
Smack!
Suddenly, Yamcha felt a pain in his lower leg, his entire body instantly losing balance. A sharp pain followed in his chest, and he was sent flying toward the arena wall like a kite with a broken string.
"Your stance is unstable, your punches are weak and soft, like duckweed without roots. I suggest you train your legs properly! As the saying goes, if you train the body but not the legs, you'll be impotent sooner or later!" Wang Yang's gaze was sharp; he had immediately spotted Yamcha's flaw and offered the advice without hesitation, while taking the opportunity to tease him.
In truth, he held no ill will toward Yamcha. The reason he pursued Bulma wasn't just because she was the first woman to stir his heart since arriving in this world, but more importantly, because in the later timeline, Bulma was Vegeta's woman.
He had been nearly killed by King Vegeta the moment he was born, and he held a deep grudge. Even though King Vegeta was dead, this debt had to be settled—the father's debt must be paid by the son—which was why he had set his sights on Bulma.
If Bulma had been with Yamcha in the original story, even if he had feelings for her, he would never have continued to pester her.
"Damn it!" Yamcha wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, feeling that Wang Yang was mocking him.
There's no other way, I have to use my ultimate move.
Yamcha knew his chances of winning were slim, so he had to make one last desperate struggle.
Yamcha suddenly opened his right hand, palm facing up in a claw shape, his left hand gripping his right wrist. Yellow light flickered on his body as a yellow energy sphere slowly manifested above his palm.
"Take this! Spirit Ball!"
Under Yamcha's control, the yellow energy sphere flew rapidly toward Wang Yang.
Wang Yang walked toward Yamcha, and just before the energy sphere struck, he swayed his body, dodging the attack.
At that moment, the corners of Yamcha's mouth curled up slightly as he brought his index and middle fingers together and made a circular motion.
The energy sphere in mid-air made a sharp turn and headed straight for Wang Yang's back.
"You certainly have plenty of flashy tricks!"
It was as if Wang Yang had eyes in the back of his head; his right hand reached back, grabbed the energy sphere, and using the momentum of its own flight, he pushed it directly onto Yamcha's chest.
"What?" Yamcha's eyes widened, watching in panic as the energy sphere drew closer.
With a muffled thud, Yamcha was blasted away, collapsing to the ground and twitching uncontrollably.
"So powerful!" Krillin watched the scene in shock; he wouldn't have been confident in dodging Yamcha's ultimate move himself.
"What a spectacular scene! Contestant Wang Yang acted as if he had eyes in the back of his head, catching Yamcha's energy sphere and slamming it right back at him!" The announcer cheered loudly, feeling thoroughly thrilled.
In the matches that followed, even though Wang Yang clearly knew how things would end, he still watched with great interest.
The infighting between the uncle and nephew, Mercenary Tao and Tien Shinhan; Son Goku getting engaged to Chi-Chi; Krillin being defeated by Piccolo Jr.
Chi-Chi looks so beautiful at this age. If she hadn't taken the initiative this time, Son Goku would probably have been destined to be single forever.
Chi-Chi
The semi-final match was about to begin.
Ever since his defeat by Wang Yang, Yamcha had been sitting in the stands looking completely dispirited.
Clang!
The match began!
Wang Yang gestured with his right hand, inviting Tien Shinhan, who was standing guard opposite him, to make the first move.
"Since you insist, I won't hold back!" Tien Shinhan shouted, gathering his energy before charging toward Wang Yang.
Wang Yang blocked and parried, fending off Tien Shinhan's attacks.
With sharp, crisp sounds, the entire arena was filled with the noise of their collision.
Such incredible speed; I can't even see their movements clearly, Master Roshi thought, watching the ring intently.
"I can't see anything! How is the fight going?" Bulma yanked on Oolong's ear, making him wince in pain.
"Go Tien Shinhan! Beat him into the ground for me!" Blonde Launch shouted at the top of her lungs, her face full of fury as she cheered for Tien Shinhan in the ring.
"Go Wang Yang! Defeat Tien Shinhan!" Bulma waved her arms and shouted loudly.
"Go Tien Shinhan, go!" Launch glared at Bulma and pulled Oolong's ear even harder.
Oolong's face was twisted in agony, but he dared not speak a word of protest.
With a loud thud, a figure fell from the air—it was Tien Shinhan.
"Your speed is too fast; even three eyes are barely enough to keep up. But what about twelve eyes?" Tien Shinhan scrambled to his feet and wiped the dust from his face.
