History

Rebirth and survival

Wang Yang is reborn as an infant Saiyan on Planet Vegeta with a combat power of 5,001. He receives basic Saiyan technical knowledge through transmitted memories, including universal language, ki blasts, Artificial Moons, and flight; he quickly demonstrates ki manipulation despite his infant body 1.

Known among Saiyans as Kafra, he distrusts attempts to treat him as an ordinary newborn and uses energy spheres to escape danger 2. While traveling with Paragus and Broly after Planet Vegeta’s fall, he develops an attachment to Broly and regards him as a younger brother 3 4.

Blue-Green Planet

On the Blue-Green Planet, Wang Yang openly challenges Paragus’s cruelty. He agrees to assist in conquering the planet only if innocent people are not harmed, and he redirects Paragus’s attack on a civilian army 4 5.

During the full moon, he transforms into a Giant Ape and defeats Paragus, tearing away Paragus’s tail to prevent further transformations 7. He then challenges Great Ape Broly, is badly injured, and destroys the moon with his remaining energy to end Broly’s rampage 8. Separation from Broly and space cultivation

After two years, Wang Yang estimates his own combat power at roughly 15,000, while Broly’s suppressed power is around 30,000. Their frequent training battles deepen their bond, while Paragus grows resentful of their progress 11.

Paragus eventually escapes with Broly. Wang Yang’s desperate pursuit triggers the first successful use of his Protective Barrier, giving him a means to survive and travel through space unaided 14.

Rather than immediately travel the universe, Wang Yang cultivates alone for ten years in extreme environments, including deep ocean trenches, frozen peaks, and volcanic craters. His goal remains to achieve the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God transformations 6 15.

King Cold and Yardrat

Wang Yang’s power draws King Cold’s attention after his combat power is detected at over one million. King Cold attacks first, and Wang Yang destroys his ship before being forced into a prolonged battle against the vastly stronger Frost Demon 16 18 19.

Unable to defeat King Cold directly, Wang Yang uses Solar Flare, Destructo Disc, and the destruction of a planet’s core to sever King Cold’s arm and escape the explosion concealed in a boulder 22.

After helping a small humanoid race and briefly becoming known as their Great King, he learns to control his Great Ape power freely 22 23. He later studies under Elder Pybara on Yardrat, rapidly learning its secret arts before leaving Pybara a communication bead for emergencies 23.

Earth and the World Martial Arts Tournament

Wang Yang arrives on Earth, meets Bulma, and agrees to enter the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. He later discovers that Son Goku is also a Saiyan and reveals their shared origin on Planet Vegeta 25 26 27.

He suppresses his overwhelming ki during the tournament to gain genuine combat experience. He defeats Shen, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan, Piccolo, and finally Goku, winning the tournament 28 29 30 32.

His victory motivates Goku to train more seriously. Wang Yang later guides Goku toward Kami and King Kai, while continuing to pursue his own training through gravity training and space travel 33.
