This was an immensely vast plain, with a magnificent ancient city at its center. Its walls bore all manner of marks left by time, like the scars of blades, spears, swords, and halberds.
The walls were packed with warriors in armor, carrying spears and bows. At the very center of the city, inside a lavish palace, a pale-faced middle-aged man in fine clothes grinned lecherously as he held a beautiful woman in his arms, roaming over her body with both hands. Outside, cries of battle shook the heavens, brains splattered, and blood stained the ground, but he paid it no mind.
Below the walls, a vast army surrounded the ancient city on every side, leaving not a single gap.
High above, Wang Yang leaned forward and looked down. Countless people were attacking the city below, their killing intent soaring into the sky and scattering the clouds. Even from several thousand meters up, the sounds of battle were audible.
Just then, Paragus flung a blue energy sphere down ahead of them.
"What is that?" The man directing the battle suddenly noticed something strange in the sky. Frowning, he asked the person beside him.
"Congratulations, Your Majesty! This is an auspicious sign—a divine being has come to congratulate us. We are sure to overthrow the tyrant's rule in this battle." An old man with a long, flowing beard prostrated himself on the ground, his face alight with joy as he offered his congratulations to the imposing man seated above him.
"Hahaha! So that's what it is! Give my order: the entire army will attack! We'll take the Imperial City today, kill the tyrant, and destroy the Baojin Dynasty!" The War King was overjoyed and waved his hand, issuing the order.
Once I take the Imperial City, I'll be the new emperor. I'll be the one to write the next chapter of history.
On the battlefield, more and more people spotted the orb of light speeding down from the sky. Many stopped what they were doing and looked up.
Just then, the orb landed among the troops attacking the city from the east. A dazzling light burst out at once, brighter and hotter than the sun. Then came a thunderous explosion. Everyone caught in the blast was reduced to ash, while those at its edges were sent flying in every direction by the tremendous force, screaming.
As the dust dispersed, a gigantic crater a thousand meters across came into view.
The walls, solid as rock, were blasted open by the shock wave, leaving a massive breach.
In a distant tent, the War King stared at the scene in stunned disbelief. Cold sweat dripped uncontrollably from his forehead.
The old man saw what had happened and lost all strength, collapsing onto the ground.
"Didn't you say this was an auspicious sign?" the War King asked, his expression dark as he glared at the old man.
"Y-Your Majesty, it really is auspicious! Look, the city wall has been breached," the old man stammered, pointing at the gap in the wall.
"You still dare to make excuses? Guards! Drag this bastard away and chop off his head!" the War King roared, his face livid. Damn it, I actually believed you. I threw all my elite troops into the attack. Thinking of the quarter of his finest soldiers who had just died, he felt as if his heart would stop from the pain.
Three figures slowly descended from the sky. Those who had survived the blast fell to their knees and prayed to them.
Wang Yang frowned as he looked at the crater below.
"Who's in charge? Get out here!" Paragus hovered in midair, looking down over the land with a cold gaze.
Everyone in the distance turned to look at the War King.
"Stop panicking! Have you no dignity?" The War King shouted abuse at those around him. Inside, he was panicking like crazy, but he kept up a calm front as he climbed onto his warhorse and slowly made his way forward.
"Greetings, Great Immortal." The War King saw a man and two children hovering in the air at a distance, and his palms grew sweaty.
Paragus didn't understand what "Great Immortal" meant, but he assumed it was something like a divine being on this planet.
"You're the leader of this planet?" Paragus looked down at the War King, who was bowing respectfully below.
"Uh, I'm not the leader just yet. The tyrant inside is." The War King didn't know what a planet was, but he more or less understood what Paragus meant. He cautiously pointed toward the Imperial City. Better him than me. I'll push that guy inside out here to take the blame first.
The War King had lived through most of his life and was skilled at reading people. From Paragus's every move, he could tell the man wasn't someone to be trifled with. Whatever he wanted with the leader, it couldn't be anything good.
"Bring him out," Paragus ordered.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! Guards, drag the tyrant out here!" The War King gave the order. A man in silver armor then led a group of people through the section of the wall that had vanished and into the city.
The defenders didn't dare stop them—or perhaps they didn't want to anymore. The tyrant's actions had chilled their hearts. Even with the enemy at the gates, he was still inside indulging in pleasure.
When the emperor was brought before Paragus, bound hand and foot, Paragus ignored the tyrant's tearful pleas for mercy. He pressed his rough palm to the emperor's forehead and fired a blue energy sphere.
Bang!
The tyrant's head exploded in an instant. He crumpled to the ground and lay motionless.
Seeing this, the War King's heart spasmed with fear.
Good thing I was quick-witted. Otherwise, I'd be the one dead right now.
"This planet is under my control now. Anyone who dares to resist will end up just like him." Paragus aimed his palm at the army to the south and threw an energy sphere at them.
"Please, no!"
The War King and the others were so terrified that they felt their hearts and guts turn to ice.
Holy shit!
Wang Yang was startled. Without a second thought, he fired a shock wave. It overtook the energy sphere and struck it, then the shock wave curved in a spinning arc and flew toward a towering mountain in the distance.
As everyone watched, the distant mountain, a thousand zhang high, collapsed with a roar.
Countless people stared dumbfounded at Wang Yang, who was still a baby. Could a human really do that? No, this isn't a human—it's a god.
"They've already submitted to you completely. You don't need to slaughter innocent people. Acting like this won't make you seem superior. It'll only make me think you're weak in front of certain people, and that you're covering up your own insignificance by killing indiscriminately." Wang Yang was furious. He stopped holding back with Paragus.
"Damn brat, you're asking to die!" Paragus saw Wang Yang interfere with him, and Wang Yang had hit on what was deep in his heart. Enraged, he aimed his palm at Wang Yang. Energy gathered in his palm as he continued to build up power.
"You want to trade blasts with me? Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Energy surged in Wang Yang's hand as he stared coldly at Paragus.
Seeing that Wang Yang was unafraid, Paragus watched the light flicker in his palm and weighed his options. With his battle power of 3,201, he probably, more or less, couldn't beat Wang Yang and his battle power of 5,001.
"I'll let you off this time. If you dare ruin my plans again, you'll pay for it." Paragus's expression shifted between light and dark as he withdrew the energy he had gathered. He glanced at Broly, resolving to make sure Broly listened to him from now on. Then he'd deal with this guy properly.
Wang Yang also let the energy sphere in his hand dissipate. He wasn't afraid of Paragus in a beam struggle, but he couldn't beat him in close combat.
After that, cowed by Paragus's cruelty, the War King had no choice but to bow and submit.
