(This chapter explains why Champa was so confident when he challenged Beerus.)
After receiving Vermoud's telepathic message, Champa had hesitated. He wasn't stupid; he knew Universe 11 had a mortal whose power surpassed that of a God of Destruction.
But Universe 6 had no one like that. Hit was very powerful, but he still hadn't reached a God of Destruction's level.
Just as Champa was fretting, Vados reminded him, "It seems a rift has opened in our universe's space. Someone appears to have come through it."
Champa was taken aback. Anyone who could emerge alive from a rift in space had to be very powerful, didn't they?
Vados quickly pinpointed the newcomer's location. But when she saw him, she noticed that he looked remarkably like Son Goku—almost exactly the same.
The only difference was that this man, who seemed to be Son Goku, looked rather battered. His body was covered in wounds.
Champa said, "Come on. Let's go take a look. If he dares disrupt the order of Universe 6, I'll destroy him."
With that, Champa and Vados hurried toward the man who looked like Son Goku.
Vados used her staff to monitor his movements. After emerging, he had stopped among a field of asteroids and hadn't moved at all. It seemed he had fallen unconscious.
They soon reached the place where this "Son Goku" had passed out. Champa peered at him with his cat-sized eyes, trying to discern something from his appearance, but all he saw was a body covered in wounds.
Still, he really did look a lot like the Son Goku from Universe 7.
That's right—he was Son Goku from another parallel timeline, the Son Goku from Dragon Ball AF! (The exciting part is about to begin, everyone!)
At that moment, the Grand Priest also sensed that a Son Goku from another universe had torn through space and arrived in Universe 6.
The Grand Priest sent a telepathic message to Vados. "This is a Son Goku from another parallel timeline. The timeline he came from has already been destroyed. He tore through the void and reached our timeline by relying on his immense strength."
With that, the Grand Priest disappeared.
Vados told Champa what the Grand Priest had said. Champa asked her, "This Son Goku came from another parallel timeline? Is he strong?"
Vados replied, "Based on what we've seen so far, he was able to tear through space and reach this timeline, which means he must be quite powerful. At the very least, his strength should be on par with that of a mid-level God of Destruction."
As soon as Vados finished speaking, Champa's face lit up with a smile.
"Since this timeline hasn't rejected Son Goku, that means this Son Goku from another parallel timeline can survive in our universe," Champa said, staring at Vados.
Vados nodded in agreement. Champa narrowed his eyes, then suddenly burst out laughing. "This Son Goku is just what we needed! Now I won't have to fear Universe 7 or Universe 11. At last, we have a mortal with the power of a God of Destruction!"
He also knew that since the Grand Priest hadn't intervened, Son Goku was allowed to remain in Universe 6.
Champa beamed at Vados. "Vados, from now on, this Son Goku is one of us. Take him back and heal his wounds."
Vados was also delighted to have a Son Goku from another timeline join their universe. With him, their universe would become even stronger!
At the God of Destruction Realm in Universe 6, AF Son Goku's wounds had already been healed by Vados.
He opened his eyes and looked around, gradually growing wary. But when he saw that his wounds had been healed, he realized someone had rescued him.
Suddenly, Champa and Vados appeared before him. They had sensed him wake up the moment he opened his eyes.
AF Son Goku looked at them and asked, "May I ask who you are?"
Vados said, "Hello, Son Goku from another parallel timeline. We're the gods of this timeline. The timeline you came from has been destroyed, and you've arrived in ours."
Suddenly, Son Goku's head began to ache as memories flooded into his mind.
His eyes turned bloodshot. He fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face. His family and friends had all died in that timeline.
"I once heard from Old Kai that other timelines existed. At the moment the universe was on the verge of destruction, they used the last of their strength to send me away. I also relied on my own strength to cross the void and reach this place," Son Goku said, kneeling on the ground and weeping.
Vados and Champa could feel his grief. They stood silently to one side.
Suddenly, his gaze grew resolute. He stood up and wiped away his tears. "Thank you both for saving me. You already know my name, so it seems there's a version of me in this timeline too!"
Vados and Champa studied AF Son Goku closely. They realized they had underestimated his strength: he was many times stronger than the Son Goku in this timeline.
Champa told AF Son Goku, "I'm the God of Destruction of this universe, and its ruler. It's fate that you've come to our universe. I hope you'll stay in Universe 6."
"I know you're unwilling to accept what happened and want to become stronger. I can help you. Our timeline is far stronger than the one you came from!"
AF Son Goku knew he had no other choice. Vados told him, "Your universe was caught in the destruction caused by an unknown, immensely powerful being. When your timeline perished, its gods sent you away. They did so in the hope that you would survive."
AF Son Goku suddenly looked up. "An unknown, immensely powerful being? Who was it? Can you tell me?" He gazed at Vados with hope.
Vados shook her head. "Its power is too great. Even the most powerful being in our timeline—the Grand Priest—has no way to track down its location."
"But Son Goku, you can grow stronger, seek the truth, and then get your revenge," Vados said earnestly.
AF Son Goku's gaze had never been so resolute. He had to become stronger! Stronger!
He could tell that the two gods before him were powerful—far more powerful than a God of Destruction. They weren't even in the same league.
Son Goku said to them earnestly, "I can sense how powerful you two gods are. I'd be happy to stay in this universe. From now on, I'll be one of its people."
Champa and Vados nodded in satisfaction. They weren't just recognizing his strength; they also approved of him as a person.
Champa asked, "Would you show me your strength? Just a little."
AF Son Goku nodded. "Sure. My wounds are fully healed, so I can use my full strength."
They went to an open area, where Vados and Champa watched AF Son Goku intently.
AF Son Goku powered up, slowly rising from the first Saiyan stage to the perfect form of Super Saiyan 4.
Vados and Champa were both shaken by his power. Before they could recover from their shock, AF Son Goku let out a furious roar, and a violent aura surged from his body.
Lightning flashed, thunder rumbled, and dark clouds gathered. The entire God of Destruction Realm trembled. But AF Son Goku kept his aura contained within the realm as much as possible, preventing anyone else from sensing it.
A flash of golden light later, Super Saiyan 5 appeared before Vados and Champa.
Champa's eyes were already wide with shock. Vados covered her mouth and stared, her eyes wide. The violent aura washed over them both, and AF Son Goku's explosive musculature filled Champa with dread.
"This, this, this is way too... strong!" Champa said, sweating profusely.
AF Son Goku said calmly, "This is Super Saiyan 5, my full power at the moment."
Suddenly, AF Son Goku powered down. "You two, what do you think of my strength?"
Champa clapped as he walked up to AF Son Goku. "You're unbelievably powerful!"
"But this form is just the peak of mortal power. If you added divine power, you might become even stronger," Vados said.
Hearing that, Goku nodded. He knew Vados was a powerful god.
Champa folded his arms and said to Vados, "Vados, you can train Son Goku and make him even stronger. That would be a great boon to the future of our universe."
"Of course. Leave it to me. I'm sure Mr. Goku will grow even stronger under my tutelage," Vados replied with a smile.
AF Son Goku was delighted too. The only thing he could do now was grow stronger. He had to become strong enough to avenge his family and friends.
No matter the timeline, the Law of the Cosmic Forest was always this cruel. The higher gods didn't care whether lower life-forms lived or died.
What he didn't know was that this conviction was quietly changing AF Son Goku. The kindness and innocence he had once possessed in that timeline were gradually disappearing.
And so, Champa calmly challenged Beerus.
After that, Champa no longer paid any attention to the God of Destruction of Universe 11. After all, now that his bench was deeper, why should he keep smiling and joking around with you?
