Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Trailblaze Divine Power / Domain Anchor attunement 1, 5 Survived Belobog’s snowfield by drawing on a Domain Anchor’s Path energy; the energy replenishes him and suppresses Honkai erosion rather than purifying it. 1 5
Honkai-energy integration 5 Honkai energy begins coexisting within his body after Path energy halts its erosion. He can release dark-purple electrical discharges and reinforce himself. 5
Honkai Killer 6 Develops a contact-based energy-draining technique capable of absorbing Honkai, kinetic, potential, chemical, internal, and rest energy from targets. 6
“Winter” and “Spring” states 8 Names his low-function suspended state “Winter” and his restored, high-output bodily state “Spring” after replenishing Path energy and restoring circulation to his damaged right hand. 8
Interdimensional transport experiments 12 Learns to carry dead or living matter through dimensions, though weight and energy impose limits. 12
Honkai-core circulation insight 17 By probing Sato Yuno’s Pseudo-Herrscher core, he gains a model for energy circulation and improves his control of Honkai-derived power. 17
Pathwalker awakening 20–22 Confronts his “dark self,” recognizes himself as a Pathwalker associated with Nihility, and gains the capacity to wield Destruction. His self-destruction manifests as a miniature sun and a stellar cataclysm. 20 21 22
Jizo Mitama integration 23–25 Refines the blade left by Rin and forms a spiritual, biological link with it, allowing the weapon to function like an external organ. 23 24 25
Biological force field 24 Activates a Path-energy field that he estimates can endure a planetary-scale explosion for roughly five seconds at full output; at 1% output, it can be sustained with continuing energy replenishment. 24
“Stage Three” development 25 Produces large-scale electromagnetic effects and black lightning, but acknowledges he lacks the microscopic control of a true Herrscher of Thunder. 25
Lower Herrscher authorities 41 Possesses residual lower-tier authority connected to Life and Death, rapidly developed Thunder authority, and Erosion-based inorganic projection; he is wary of advancing too quickly. 41

Background / History

Arrival and survival

Fang Jie was transported into the Honkai: Star Rail setting after his phone battery ran low. He spent roughly a month stranded in Belobog’s snowfield, surviving on scarce food, a shelter, and energy obtained from a Domain Anchor before reaching another world through his return ability. 1 5

In Changkong City, Kiana Kaslana found him collapsed outdoors. Fang Jie identified her immediately and revealed that he came from outside her world, although Kiana initially treated his claims with suspicion. 1 He later learned that Honkai energy had begun eroding him and that he had only about two and a half weeks before it would overwhelm him. 2

Fang Jie intervened when he discovered Sato Yuno being abused at home. Recognizing the Honkai energy accumulating inside her, he tried to stabilize her emotions and prevent her from becoming a Herrscher. 3

Great Eruption and Changkong City

After returning to Belobog’s snowfield, Fang Jie absorbed Path energy from the Domain Anchor and discovered that he could coexist with, absorb, and discharge Honkai energy. He returned to Changkong City during the Great Eruption to exploit its abundant Honkai energy. 5

He developed Honkai Killer while fighting Death Troopers and a Chariot-class Honkai Beast, then escorted Kiana, Raiden Mei, and Bronya through the ruined city. 6 7 Despite Kiana’s attempts to stop him, he returned alone to Changkong City to continue gathering energy; Murata Himeko gave him the three-star Composite Blade: Willow Leaf for the journey. 8

Fang Jie later fought Sato Yuno after she became the Herrscher of Poison. He resisted her vines, poison, and regeneration, ultimately helping Himeko subdue her and draining Yuno’s power. 13 15 16

Rin, Yae Sakura, and the Path

When Higokumaru attacked Himeko and Yuno through Yae Sakura’s body, Fang Jie used the Synesthesia Beacon to address her as “Rin.” He then used an intensified Honkai Killer to contain and teleport the threat away, choosing containment over an immediate retreat. 18

After surviving the resulting collapse, Fang Jie continued trying to communicate with the fragmented Herrscher of Erosion rather than kill Yae Sakura. Rin’s erosion proved largely ineffective against him, and their confrontation led Fang Jie into a spiritual awakening involving Nihility, Destruction, and his “dark self.” 19 20 21

Rin later discarded her former Herrscher identity, forged Jizo Mitama, and became a reluctant traveling companion. Fang Jie used his newly developed Destruction and Erosion-related powers while traveling with Rin and the unconscious Yae Sakura toward Belobog. 23 24 25

Belobog and the Astral Express

In Belobog, Fang Jie aided March 7th, Dan Heng, and Stelle against the Silvermane Guards. He presented himself as an outsider and began forming a tentative connection with the Astral Express crew. 26

He explored Belobog’s upper and lower districts, worked with Seele against Cleft monsters, and openly used Destruction to burn away the planet’s cold and snow. His cooperation with Seele helped clear the Cleft threat, though one firestorm nearly endangered Belobog itself. 40 43 44

After discussing his origins and uncertain future with Welt and Himeko, Fang Jie chose to leave his past behind and join the Astral Express as a Nameless. 49

Appearance

Fang Jie is tall and lean, with a fashion-model-like build and a distinctly sculpted but somewhat effeminate face. His forest-green eyes, unkempt hair, tight-fitting clothing, cheerful smile, and fiery demeanor leave a strong impression on Seele. 44

  • Initially appeared exceptionally ragged and refugee-like after surviving the Belobog snowfield. 1
  • Has messy hair that resists being neatly styled. 44
  • His body becomes visibly cleaner and more refined after activating Path energy; impurities and debris are automatically destroyed or shed. 24
  • Frequently manifests dark-purple electricity, black lightning, frost, or fire while using his powers. 5 6 25 44

Personality

Fang Jie is fundamentally survival-driven, adaptable, and willing to take dangerous measures when he believes they are necessary. He treats information as a resource, plans around his own limitations, and prefers escape when a fight cannot be won. 1 6 12

Despite his pragmatism, he repeatedly protects people in immediate danger: he intervenes for Yuno, escorts Kiana’s group out of Changkong City, sends Himeko away during Higokumaru’s attack, and refuses to kill Yae Sakura merely to solve Rin’s possession. 3 7 18 19

He values honesty even when it is strategically unwise, openly telling Kiana, Rin, March 7th, and Dan Heng that he is from outside their world. His knowledge of possible futures is incomplete, however, and he admits that he needs guidance to avoid harming others through reckless action. 1 20 26 31

His developing Destruction power feeds an urge to advance and reshape circumstances. Fang Jie recognizes that this desire may compromise his humanity, making him cautious of further unchecked growth. 23 26 41

Abilities & Skills

Trailblaze Divine Power and teleportation

Fang Jie draws Path energy from Domain Anchors and uses it as the basis for his endurance, recovery, and interworld travel.

  • Path energy replenishes him and suppresses active Honkai erosion. 5
  • Can open short-lived wormhole-like passages to travel between distant worlds or locations. 5
  • Can teleport himself to evade pursuit, but deliberately conceals the ability and notes that it requires intervals and practical limits. 8
  • Can transport dead or living matter across dimensions, subject to weight and energy restrictions. 12
  • Can transfer Trailblaze energy to others, as when he reinforced Himeko’s chances of survival. 18

Honkai Killer

Honkai Killer is Fang Jie’s signature absorption technique. It drains energy through physical contact, devastating Honkai-based enemies.

  • Absorbs numerous forms of energy, including Honkai energy, kinetic energy, potential energy, chemical energy, and internal energy. 6
  • Can rapidly drain Honkai Beasts until their bodies collapse, freeze, and become inert wreckage. 6
  • Was used to disarm and weaken Sato Yuno and to drain Higokumaru’s power. 16 19
  • Requires contact; the contact surface becomes the effective “killing surface.” 6
  • Prolonged or full-body use risks severe erosion, immobilization, and self-freezing, so Fang Jie commonly confines the technique to a limb. 6 15

Destruction Path and biological force field

After awakening as a Pathwalker, Fang Jie gains Destruction-based firepower and extreme defensive potential.

  • Created a miniature sun during his self-destruction event, triggering a catastrophic stellar-scale explosion. 22
  • Can create firestorms and burn away Belobog’s cold and snow. 44
  • Activates a biological force field powered by Path energy for defense. 24
  • At full output, the field can only be maintained briefly due to immense energy expenditure. 24
  • Reducing output to 1% allows sustained defensive use under normal replenishment conditions. 24

Psychic abilities

Fang Jie describes his psychic ability as more intuitive and natural to him than breathing, although he deliberately avoids relying on it excessively. 17

  • Uses psychic control to ease Himeko’s Honkai-related pain. 17
  • Draws Path energy from the Domain Anchor through this ability. 17
  • Can probe a Pseudo-Herrscher core and perceive its energy circulation and authority. 17
  • His developing mental faculties improve memory, thought speed, danger perception, opponent simulation, and predictive capability. 24

Jizo Mitama and Herrscher-derived techniques

Jizo Mitama gives Fang Jie access to Erosion-related projection and supports his manipulation of electromagnetic and Honkai-based phenomena.

  • Forms a spiritual link with Fang Jie and functions as an external organ connected to his cellular bio-field. 25
  • Enables mental projection: projected manifestations can strike targets within his perception. 25
  • Four Souls Severed — A projected slashing technique used to destroy Cleft monsters. 25
  • Can corrode and control Cleft monsters, allowing Fang Jie and Seele to navigate the Cleft. 43
  • Electrostatic Field / Lightning — Generates electric fields and black lightning capable of carving a deep trench through snow, ice, earth, and rock. 25
  • Can manipulate particles into force fields through Herrscher of Thunder-derived principles. 26

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Composite Blade: Willow Leaf — Three-star saber gifted by Murata Himeko. It was designed for cutting power, can absorb and release Honkai energy, and was durable enough to sever large Honkai Beasts. Higokumaru later destroyed it. 8 11 19
  • Jizo Mitama — A blade forged from Soul Steel, an Erosion Core, Herrscher of Corruption material, and Path energy. Fang Jie refines it after Rin leaves it behind. 23 24 36
  • Synesthesia Beacon — Basic technology found in a snowfield shelter that provides real-time translation, including interspecies communication. Fang Jie used it to reach Rin during Higokumaru’s attack. 1 18
  • Phone interface / Return Ticket — Fang Jie’s remaining phone-based interface contains game icons and the Return Ticket associated with his world-crossing ability. 2

Relationships

  • Kiana Kaslana — First person Fang Jie meets after reaching Changkong City. Their relationship begins with mutual suspicion, but he escorts her, Mei, and Bronya out of the Great Eruption; Kiana remains concerned whenever he returns to danger. 1 6 7 8
  • Murata Himeko — Ally and comrade-in-arms. Himeko gives him Composite Blade: Willow Leaf, fights beside him against Yuno, and later trusts his decision to contain Higokumaru. 8 16 18
  • Sato Yuno — A girl Fang Jie tries to save from abuse and Herrscher transformation. After she becomes the Herrscher of Poison, he fights, restrains, and drains her rather than immediately killing her. 3 15 16
  • Rin / Higokumaru — Initially a hostile Herrscher of Erosion who possesses Yae Sakura. Fang Jie repeatedly tries to communicate with and contain her; after her transformation, they travel together in a tense but increasingly cooperative arrangement. 19 20 25
  • Yae Sakura — Fang Jie refuses to kill her despite Rin’s possession and protects her while she is unconscious. After she awakens, he invites her to stay with him and find a new purpose. 19 25 47
  • March 7th — An Astral Express companion with whom Fang Jie shares a teasing, playful dynamic while exploring Belobog. 30 37 38
  • Dan Heng — A cautious acquaintance who questions Fang Jie’s origins. Fang Jie respects Dan Heng’s judgment and wishes to learn how to navigate the world without causing harm. 26 31
  • Stelle — The Stellaron Spirit whom Fang Jie treats with sibling-like affection; they engage in playful fights and mutual teasing. 30 46
  • Seele — Begins as a suspicious local guide, then becomes Fang Jie’s partner in clearing Cleft monsters. Their conversations and joint experiments help both develop greater confidence. 37 40 41 44
  • Welt Yang — A source of perspective and reassurance before Fang Jie joins the Astral Express. Welt’s encouragement helps him accept that miracles and hope remain possible. 49
