Background / History

Belobog is humanity's sole fortified settlement on its frozen planet, protected from the Eternal Freeze by an iron fortress and a mysterious power associated with the Aeon of Preservation. Beyond the city, the world is buried beneath snow and largely devoid of life. 26 28

The city has endured for approximately seven hundred years under successive Great Guardians. Its civilization survived by developing underground, where the City Builders excavated Subterranean Veins and established mining districts to sustain the city. 31 40

More than a decade before the current events, the upper city cut off supplies to the lower district to extend Belobog's remaining lifespan. Despite this sacrifice, the city's Subterranean Marrow reserves have dwindled to only days' worth of supply. 31

Government and Security

Belobog is ruled by the Great Guardian, whose authority determines major decisions concerning the city and its outsiders. Cocolia Rand holds the position during the visitors' arrival, while Bronya Rand is identified as Acting Great Guardian amid the rebellion. 27 29 32

The Silvermane Guards serve as Belobog's principal military force. Led in the field by figures such as Gepard Landau and later acting Garrison Officer Serval Landau, they defend the city against Cleft creatures, external threats, and perceived internal rebellion. 27 29 33

Threats

Eternal Freeze

The Eternal Freeze has isolated Belobog behind a snow curtain and prevented meaningful outward expansion. The city remains warm within its walls, but the frozen world outside offers little life or security. 26 28 30

Cleft

Cleft corrosion, created by a Stellar Nucleus, transforms matter and space into hostile Cleft phenomena. Cleft creatures are a constant threat to both the upper city and the Underworld, and eliminating them does not necessarily remove the underlying corrosion. 40

External Powers

Cocolia identifies the Anti-Matter Legion and the Company as dangers greater than the immediate Stellar Nucleus crisis. Belobog owes the Company an enormous debt while remaining vulnerable to the Legion's advance. 32

Internal Instability

Resource scarcity and political manipulation drive unrest within the city. Criminals hack the Silvermane Guards' automaton control system during a rebellion, while later events see Bronya accused of collusion and the Guards divided against one another. 29 36

Story Role / Major Arcs

Arrival of the Outsiders

Fang Jie, Rin, and Yae Sakura reach Belobog while March 7th, Dan Heng, and the Stellaron Spirit are already in conflict with Silvermane Guards. Fang Jie joins the fighting, and the clash with Gepard escalates before Gepard and Bronya arrange for the outsiders to meet the Great Guardian. 26 27 29

Upper-City Reception

The outsiders enter Belobog through its snow curtain and are escorted toward Clipper Fortress. Fang Jie and the Astral Express group explore the upper city, including the Eternal Freeze Monument, while Fang Jie and Cocolia separately discuss Belobog's collapsing future. 30 32

Cocolia's Reversal

Although Cocolia initially receives the outsiders, Serval soon arrives under her orders to arrest them as infiltrators inciting rebellion. Fang Jie remains behind to delay Serval while the others escape into the Cleft and descend toward the lower district. 33 34

Lower-District Crisis

Fang Jie and Rin enter the lower district amid supply riots, while Bronya escapes her own arrest and heads underground. Fang Jie later meets Seele and witnesses the disparity between the upper city and the Underworld. 36 37

Cleft Cleansing

With Natasha's permission, Fang Jie and Seele venture through Rivet Town to confront Cleft creatures. Fang Jie destroys numerous monsters and eventually reaches the surface, where his uncontrolled Destruction Path power burns away snow and threatens Belobog with a massive firestorm. 40 44
