As the two spaceships drew closer, Son Goku and the others on Earth soon sensed their energy.
"They're here!"
Krillin said gravely.
As soon as he finished speaking, two bright streaks of white light appeared in the sky.
Those two streaks of white light were Vegeta and Nappa's spaceships.
With two thunderous crashes, the spaceships slammed into the ground.
A huge cloud of dust immediately billowed up.
A moment later, the dust settled, revealing two sizable craters in the ground.
Vegeta and Nappa opened their spaceship doors at the same time and stepped out.
"Th-they're the two companions Raditz told us about?"
Yamcha asked in fear.
He had been confident that he could put up a fight, but Vegeta and Nappa's energy was far beyond anything he had imagined.
"Whoosh..."
"Thud..."
Just then, Vegeta and Nappa flew up from the craters their spaceships had made and landed on the ground.
"Kakarot, you really did come back to life!"
Vegeta said to Son Goku with a smile.
Son Goku nodded.
"Are you Raditz's companions?"
"That's right, Kakarot. My name is Nappa, and the man standing beside me is His Highness Vegeta, prince of the Saiyans!"
"The Saiyan prince!"
"One, two, three... seven, eight. Quite a crowd!"
Vegeta said, counting Son Goku and the others.
"Nappa, why don't you play with them for a while?"
"Yes, Your Highness Vegeta!"
As he spoke, Nappa switched on the Scouter over his left eye.
"Beep, beep..."
"1,220..."
"1,083..."
"1,480..."
"1,830..."
"610..."
"What a joke! They're all weaklings!"
Nappa said disdainfully as he looked at the numbers displayed on the Scouter.
"Nappa, what's Kakarot's battle power?"
Vegeta asked.
"I haven't checked yet, but I doubt it's much higher than theirs!"
"Nappa, don't let your guard down. Kakarot may not be as simple as you think!"
Vegeta scolded him.
Krillin and the others all looked tense. Only Son Goku and Son Gohan remained completely calm.
With his many years of battle experience, Vegeta could tell that Son Goku and Son Gohan were no ordinary opponents.
"...Yes!"
Nappa was startled by Vegeta's warning and immediately aimed the Scouter at Son Goku.
"Beep, beep..."
"1,000..."
Seeing the reading on the Scouter, Nappa immediately let out a sigh of relief.
"Your Highness Vegeta, Kakarot's battle power is 1,000!"
"Only 1,000? And here I was, getting my hopes up! What about that brat?"
Vegeta looked at Son Gohan.
Nappa aimed the Scouter at Son Gohan.
"Beep, beep..."
"980..."
"980!"
Nappa reported Son Gohan's battle power.
Vegeta rubbed his chin with his right hand.
Then, as if he had figured something out, he said,
"I get it. Kakarot and that brat are hiding their battle power. That's why they're so calm!"
"Hiding their battle power?"
"Nappa, have you forgotten? Kakarot had a battle power of only a little over 400 when he fought Raditz. Somehow, he later raised it to over 900!"
"I see! But even if Kakarot is hiding his battle power, there's no way it can be higher than mine, is there, Your Highness Vegeta?"
"In theory, that's unlikely. But you'd better be careful anyway!"
"I understand, Your Highness Vegeta!"
Nappa nodded.
"Are you two going to get started or not?"
Son Goku said, after watching them talk for a while.
Nappa smiled.
"Kakarot, are you that eager to die?"
"Eager to die?"
Son Goku looked at Nappa in confusion.
Nappa's energy was powerful, but Son Goku was still confident he could beat him.
As for Vegeta... that was harder to say.
Nappa gave a cold laugh, walked over to a patch of earth, and planted several seeds.
"What's he doing?"
Yamcha asked, puzzled.
"I don't know!"
Krillin shook his head.
Just then, the ground gave a loud rumble, and six short, green monsters burst out of the soil.
The monsters were called Saibamen, one of the Saiyans' traditional weapons.
But they weren't invented by the Saiyans. They were creatures the Saiyans had discovered on a planet long ago.
Saibamen could fight on their own and were convenient tools, but their cultivation seeds were difficult to harvest. They were scarce and precious, so not everyone could use them.
The Saibamen had a battle power of 1,200. In terms of strength alone, each could match Raditz, whose battle power was 1,500. Though they held a low status, they were terrifyingly powerful.
"These are Saibamen. Each one has a battle power of 1,200!"
"1...1,200? Isn't that close to Raditz's battle power?"
Krillin asked in fear.
"That's right. But Raditz was only one person, and there are six of them!"
Krillin swallowed nervously.
"Yamcha, are you sure you want to take them on by yourself?"
"Well... I guess we could all take them on together!"
Piccolo snorted, looking disdainful.
Krillin and the others' expressions turned serious.
Nappa gave a cold laugh and swept his hand toward the Saibamen.
"Attack!"
The six Saibamen immediately charged at Son Goku and the others.
Son Goku moved and punched through the body of one of the charging Saibamen.
Son Gohan casually thrust out his right hand and fired a blast of energy, destroying one of the charging Saibamen.
Krillin saw this and raised his right hand, forming a rapidly spinning disc of light in his palm.
"Destructo Disc!"
Krillin shouted as he hurled the disc in his hand at a charging Saibaman.
"Whoosh..."
With a slicing sound, the Saibaman was cut in half and fell to the ground.
"Nice!"
Seeing that, Yamcha's confidence soared. He formed a Spirit Ball in his hand and sent it flying at a Saibaman.
Just then, the Saibaman's head suddenly split open down the middle, and it spat out a stream of corrosive liquid.
Yamcha saw it and hurriedly jumped backward, guiding the Spirit Ball—which the Saibaman had dodged—to turn around.
Boom!
With a tremendous explosion, the Saibaman was taken out.
Seeing this, the two remaining Saibamen grew timid.
"Don't you dare retreat!"
Seeing that the Saibamen were afraid to advance, Nappa immediately shouted.
"Ha!"
The Saibamen had no choice but to charge at Piccolo and Tien Shinhan.
Piccolo snorted and drove his right fist into the belly of the charging Saibaman.
"Ah!"
With a scream, the Saibaman fell to the ground in pain.
Piccolo fired a blast of energy from his left hand, destroying the Saibaman.
