"Nothing much. I just did push-ups every day, and Aunt Bulma made me a Gravity Chamber with a hundred times normal gravity!"

"A Gravity Chamber?"

"That's right, Dad!"

As Son Gohan spoke, he took out a Hoi-Poi Capsule, pressed its switch, and tossed it onto an empty patch of ground nearby.

A cloud of white smoke appeared, and a semicircular house materialized.

This was Son Gohan's Gravity Chamber.

"Dad, this is Aunt Bulma's Gravity Chamber!"

As Son Gohan spoke, he opened the door and led Son Goku and Piccolo inside.

Son Goku looked around the living room.

"Gohan, isn't this just an ordinary house?"

"Dad, this is the living area. The Gravity Chamber is inside!"

"Really?"

After hearing that, Son Goku immediately followed Son Gohan inside.

A little while later, the three of them arrived at the Gravity Chamber.

Son Gohan briefly explained how it worked to Son Goku.

"It can go up to three hundred times normal gravity?"

"That's right, Dad! If you want to increase the gravity beyond that, you'll have to ask Aunt Bulma for help!"

"Don't worry. I won't need more than that for now anyway!"

Son Gohan nodded.

Afterward, the three of them began training in the Gravity Chamber.

Mount Paozu, Son Goku's home.

Chi-Chi was checking the exercises that Son Gohan's clone had just completed.

She looked over the answers and saw that the clone had gotten every exercise right.

"Excellent! You got them all right. My Gohan really is the smartest!"

"So, Gohan, what would you like for dinner? I'll make it for you!"

"Braised pig's trotters, sweet-and-sour ribs, ..."

Son Gohan's clone listed many of the dishes Son Gohan liked.

"Oh, all right! Then keep studying hard, Gohan!"

"Okay!"

Son Gohan's clone nodded.

Seeing this, Chi-Chi immediately left Son Gohan's room.

"What kind of dish are sweet-and-sour ribs?"

Evening.

Son Gohan felt he had done enough training for the day, so he took out the Heaven-Reaching Mirror to check on his family.

Through the mirror, Son Gohan saw Chi-Chi cooking in the kitchen.

After checking on things at home, Son Gohan used Instant Transmission to return to his room and switch places with his clone.

Time flew by, and more than half a month passed in the blink of an eye.

Throughout that time, Son Gohan trained with Piccolo and the others.

North Galaxy.

A huge, disk-shaped spaceship was heading toward Namek.

It was Frieza's spaceship.

After Vegeta's defeat, Frieza learned from his subordinates why Vegeta had gone to Earth.

Then he suddenly remembered that Namek also had Dragon Balls, so he ordered his men to take him there.

Inside the control room of Frieza's spaceship, Frieza held a wineglass filled about a third of the way with red wine in his right hand and gazed out at space.

"How much longer until we reach Namek?"

Zarbon: "At this rate, about ten minutes, Lord Frieza!"

"Oh!"

Frieza replied indifferently, then lifted his glass and took a sip of wine.

"Lord Frieza, since you're going to Namek yourself to collect the Dragon Balls, what wish do you intend to make?"

Dodoria was so bored that he asked Frieza out of curiosity.

Frieza smiled.

"I want eternal youth. That way, I can rule forever!"

"I see. That's certainly a fine wish!"

Frieza nodded.

Frieza Planet 79 was one of the planets under Frieza's control.

Vegeta's spaceship had now landed on the planet.

Vegeta was so badly injured that he had already fallen unconscious.

Before he passed out, however, he had kept muttering Son Goku and Son Gohan's names.

With a soft sound, the spaceship's door opened.

Frieza's men knew the spaceship belonged to Vegeta, so as soon as it landed, they stood respectfully on either side, ready to greet him.

Once the door had opened all the way, Frieza's soldiers quickly spotted the gravely injured Vegeta.

"Prince Vegeta!"

When one of Frieza's squad leaders saw that Vegeta was unconscious, he immediately ordered his men to carry him away for treatment.

On Earth.

Son Gohan was training when he suddenly heard the system's voice in his ear.

"Ding! Congratulations, Master. Your battle power has reached one billion. As a reward, you have received the ability to survive in the vacuum of space, the Shadow Battle Axe, the Super Spirit Bomb (you can now borrow other people's energy without raising your hands), and 999 Senzu Beans!"

"The Shadow Battle Axe!"

After the system finished speaking, memories about the Super Spirit Bomb immediately appeared in Son Gohan's mind.

A purple axe appeared in the system's inventory, and his Senzu Beans increased from 88 to 1,087.

"System, why'd you give me an axe? Am I supposed to chop firewood?"

"Ahem!"

The system cleared its throat.

"Master, the Shadow Battle Axe can cut through iron as easily as mud. It's an excellent weapon for killing!"

"But I don't like using weapons!"

"That's all right, Master. Even without you controlling it, the Shadow Battle Axe can still help you deal with your enemies!"

"I don't have to control it?"

"That's right, Master. This is the most advanced battle axe there is. Just tell it whom to kill, and it'll kill them!"

"That powerful?"

"Of course!"

After hearing this, Son Gohan immediately took the Shadow Battle Axe out of the system.

The Shadow Battle Axe weighed a thousand pounds, but it felt like nothing in Son Gohan's hands.

"Shadow Battle Axe, chop down that tree in front of me!"

Son Gohan pointed to the large tree ahead.

The Shadow Battle Axe received Son Gohan's command and immediately swung at the tree.

With a soft whoosh, the Shadow Battle Axe chopped the tree down in one stroke.

"Not bad! Shadow Battle Axe, can you chop down ten trees at once?"

At his words, the Shadow Battle Axe spun once in midair and transformed into ten Shadow Battle Axes.

Then all ten axes flew toward the ten trees ahead.

With a soft whoosh, all ten trees fell at once.

The ten Shadow Battle Axes suddenly blurred like phantoms and merged back into one.

"Shadow Battle Axe, what's the most axes you can create at once?"

After hearing the question, the Shadow Battle Axe spun once in the air.

More than a hundred Shadow Battle Axes appeared, arranged neatly in ten rows.

"One hundred!"

The Shadow Battle Axe nodded forward like a person.

Just then, the system's voice suddenly rang out.

"Master, Frieza and the others have already set off for Namek. They'll arrive in one minute!"

"Okay, I know!"

As he spoke, Son Gohan used his hair to create a clone and left it there. Then he used Instant Transmission to appear in a village on Namek.
