Background / History

Liu Ying was Yao Lan's third clone, dispatched to East Sea Academy to observe Tang Wulin and collect data on the divine power leaking from him. Herta provided a recommendation letter claiming that Liu Ying had talent but could not attend school because of financial hardship. Liu Ying approached Wu Zhangkong timidly and asked to remain at the academy despite arriving after enrollment had closed. 39

Wu Zhangkong allowed her to enroll if she could demonstrate her strength against Tang Wulin. Liu Ying defeated him, joined Class Five, and entered Wu Zhangkong's special training alongside Tang Wulin and Xie Xie. Her stated reason for enrolling concealed her true mission, but she also genuinely wished to experience ordinary school life. 40 41 110

Herta later disclosed that Liu Ying suffered from Entropic Disintegration Syndrome, an incurable condition that slowly caused her to disappear. Yao Lan had specifically sent her to East Sea Academy to fulfill her wish of studying among peers and making friends. Liu Ying tried to hide the illness from Tang Wulin, Xie Xie, and Xu Xiaoyan so that she would not burden them. 110

At Shrek Academy, Liu Ying led Tang Wulin's group through the entrance examination and class-committee competition. Her overwhelming power secured her position as class monitor, while her rivalry with Tang Wulin developed into mutual respect. 113 115 119 120

Kafka recovered and revived Liu Ying with a green pill, after which she received power from Yao Lan's main body. Having completed her surveillance mission—concluding that Tang Wulin would no longer be led astray by outside influences—she joined the Stellaron Hunters and left without saying goodbye. 215
